Now, checking himself whether he possesses such devotion, since it is not there enough towards what matters (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>), he censures himself for starting to praise (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Introduction (given by <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/08\/pillai-lokam-jiyar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">piLLai lOkam jIyar<\/a>)<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In previous pAsuram, he said that if people of ill knowledge found faults then their words would be ornaments for him; in this pAsuram he thinks, look at me \u2013 I somehow gave some explanation about the faults found by those in the previous pAsuram, in reality there is no devotion \/ love from my side that would be fit for <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s greatness, who is famous in all (both) the worlds; even then I was happy to start praising <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a> (through the prabandham); what a grand act I attempted doing! \u201c<em>mahyam namOsthu kavayE nirapathra pAya<\/em>\u201d [sthOthra rathnam \u2013 7] (obeisance to me who is shamelessly trying to praise &#8230; developed (by them),<br \/>\n<em>madhi inmaiyAl<\/em> \u2013 (and) due to my foolishness<br \/>\n<em>mozhindhida<\/em> \u2013 (I am trying) to talk about<br \/>\n<em>avan than<\/em> \u2013 his (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s)<br \/>\n<em>perum kIrthi<\/em> \u2013 limitless glory.<\/p>\n<p>Or,<br \/>\n<em>payilum kavigaLil<\/em> \u2013 through <em>my <\/em>creation of poems,<br \/>\n<em>mozhindhida muyalginRanan<\/em> \u2013 trying to praise his names; <em><br \/>\npAvi nenjAl <\/em>\u2013 along with my mind of arrogance\/ignorance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>iyalum<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 the sound<br \/>\n<strong><em>poruLum<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 and the meaning(and along with them the rhythm of it)<br \/>\n<strong><em>isaiya<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 all these to be congruent<br \/>\n<strong><em>thoduththu<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 formed (thoduththu \u2013 like soft flowers are put together in to a garland), without any deficit to the correct words and meanings<br \/>\n<strong><em>een<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 (poets who) created (incarnated) the prabandham<br \/>\n<strong><em>kavigaL<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 (poets) \u2013 \u2018<em>vAcha yathIndhra! manasA vapushA cha yushmath; pAdhAravindha yugaLam bhajathAm gurUNAm\u2019 <\/em>[<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">maNavALa mAmunigaL\u2019<\/a>s yathirAja vimsathi-3] (wish to have the mind that is always thinking of the divine feet of preceptors like <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/14\/thirukkurugaippiran-pillan-english\/\">thirukurugaip pirAN piLLan<\/a>..) \u2013 such poets.<br \/>\n<strong><em>een kavigaL<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 distinguished poets<br \/>\n<strong><em>anbAl<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 because of their intense love<br \/>\n<strong><em>mayal koNdu<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 lost their state (became mad); doing strange loving things which a person who is aware of knowledge would not do; due to maturity of knowledge, their love intensifies and they behave as if they have lost their knowledge;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>vAzhththum<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 ((they) sing pallANdu);<br \/>\n<em>jayati sakala vidhyA vAhinee janma shaila: <\/em><em>jani patha parivriththi shrAntha vishrAnthi shAkhee <\/em><em>nikhila kumathi mAyA sharvaree bAla sUrya: <\/em><em>nigama jaladhi veLA pUrNa chandrO yathIndhraha: <\/em>[<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyar.wordpress.com\/2012\/09\/25\/sri-vedanthachariar-vaibhavam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vEdhAnthachAriAr\u2019<\/a>s yathirAja sapthathi &#8211; 28] \u2013 (he teaches us knowledge about how to cross the births; he is the comforting shadow in the hot path that is this birth; the young rays of sun to the darkness the mAyAvAdhis, who have lost their mind; he is the full moon that acts on the sea that is the vEdhas)<br \/>\n\u2013 such are the ways they praise\/sing pallANdu to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Also as:<br \/>\n\u201c<em>vAzhi ethirAsan vAzhi ethirAsan<\/em><br \/>\n<em>vAzhi ethirAsan ena vAzhththuvAr &#8211; vAzhi ena<\/em><br \/>\n<em>vAzhththuvAr vAzhi ena vAzhththuvAr thALiNaiyil<\/em><br \/>\n<em> thAzhththuvAr viNNOr thalai<\/em>\u201d [<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">maNavALa mAmunigaL<\/a>\u2019s Arththi prabandham &#8211; 1],<br \/>\n(~ those in srIvakuntam would bow their head to the feet of those who sing pallANdu (long live) to those who sing pallANdu to those who always sing pallANdu to yathirAja);<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201caRu samayach chediyadhanai adi aRuththAn vAzhiyE\u2019 <\/em>[Arththi prabandham &#8211; 31], and such vAzhith thirunAmams;<br \/>\n\u2018<em>vAzhiyarO, thakkOr paravum &#8230; mukkOl pidiththa muni\u2019 <\/em>[iyal sARRu] such mangaLAsAsanam to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a> by such great ones.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>rAmAnusanai \u2013<\/em><\/strong> such <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rAmAnujan<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>madhi<\/em><\/strong><strong> <em>inmaiyAl<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 As said in \u2018<em>agnyOyam Athma guNalesa vivarjithascha<\/em>\u2019 [<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">maNavALa mAminigaL<\/a>\u2019s yathirAja vimsathi-20], due to not having knowledge about his auspicious qualities,<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>payilum<\/em><\/strong><strong> \u2013 <\/strong>(poets\/poems) that talk completely about (his greatness)<br \/>\n<strong><em>kavigaLil<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 in such pAsurams, or, with such poets who sang such pAsurams<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/kooresa.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3708\" src=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/kooresa.jpg\" alt=\"kooresa\" width=\"295\" height=\"395\" srcset=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/kooresa.jpg 735w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/kooresa-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 295px) 100vw, 295px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong><em>paththi illAdha \u2013<\/em><\/strong> not having <em>any<\/em> bhakthi (devotion), whether based on knowledge or faith (in such poems or poets);<br \/>\n<strong><em>pAvi nenjAl<\/em><\/strong><strong> \u2013 <\/strong>with my mind that is not pure; even if there is no gyAna, bhakthi, etc., if the mind is at least pure, then it would be possible to develop those; but my mind is impure such that it is always going the wrong ways; such is my mind..<br \/>\n<strong><em>avan than <\/em><\/strong><strong> &#8211; <\/strong>his; he sings (later in this prabandham) \u2018<em>adaiyAr kamalaththu alar magaL kELvan kai Azhi ennum, padaiyOdu nAnthakamum padar thaNdum oN sArnga villum, pudaiyAr puri sankamum indhap pUthalam kAppadharkku enRu .. rAmAnusa muni Ayina innilaththE\u2019 (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s conch etc., became <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a> here to save this world) [33];\u00a0\u00a0 others sang \u201c<em>AnRa thamizh maRaigaL Ayiramum &#8230; vaLarththa idhath thAi irAmAnusan\u201d <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/03\/thiruvaimozhi-thaniyans-invocation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thiruvAimozhi thaniyan<\/a>]; as celebrated by himself and other <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/full-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AchAryas<\/a>;<br \/>\n<strong><em>perum kIrththi<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; his great fame would match his great stature; <em>\u201cshrIrangesha jayadhvajO vijayathE rAmAnujOyam muni:\u201d <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvAn <\/a>(and others) dhAtI panchakam -1],\u00a0\u00a0 <em>\u2018Eyndha perum kIrthi\u2019, \u2018eN thisaiyum Eththum ethirAsan\u2019 <\/em> &#8211; his fame is such a wealth;<br \/>\n<strong><em>mozhindhidavE \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>(trying to say about such greatness) \u2013 with my mind which does not have gyAna bhakthi, I am trying to do vAchA kainkaryam by creating this grantham, and dedicate it;<br \/>\n<strong>muyalginRanan \u2013 <\/strong>being enthusiastic about doing that. As said in:<br \/>\n<em>\u201cdhik asuchim avinItham nirbhayam mAm alajjam<\/em><br \/>\n<em> paramapurusha yO aham yOgivarya agragaNyai:<\/em><br \/>\n<em>viDhi siva sanakAdhyai:\u00a0 dhyAthum athyantha dhUram<\/em><br \/>\n<em>thava parijana bhAvam kAmayE kAmavruththa:\u201d <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/01\/alavandhar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ALavandhAr<\/a>\u2019s sthOthra rathnam]<br \/>\n(it is despicable that I who am impure, immodest, audacious, impudent, and self-willed, wish to be the\u00a0servant of You the supreme purusha whom even the best of yOgis like sanathkumAra, brahmA, and siva are not able to conceive in their minds {translation taken from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibiblio.org\/sripedia\/oppiliappan\/archives\/nov08\/msg00130.html\">http:\/\/www.ibiblio.org\/sripedia\/oppiliappan\/archives\/nov08\/msg00130.html<\/a> \u00a0on Aug 30, 2015}).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amudhanAr <\/a>wonders what an attempt he is making to say in words the greatness of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>. It is thus showing his naichya anusandhAnam (considering oneself as very lowly\/inferior).<\/p>\n<p><strong>From srI u.vE. thirumalai nallAn chakravarthy rAmakrishNa iyengAr\u2019s \u2018amudha virundhu\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Those words that make the mind cherish and enjoy \u2013 such are the ones created by the great ones;\u00a0Money is making others sing (in praise of the king, etc.); but here in the case of devotees of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>, it is their devotion that makes them sing praises.<\/p>\n<p>Their love made the <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/azhwars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AzhvArs<\/a> sing about emperuAn; they did not lose their state that much \u2013 they were able to sing a <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thousand pAsurams<\/a> (<em>avAvilandhAdhigaLAl Ayiram<\/em> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> 10-10-11); but here, those like <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvan <\/a>start to sing about <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a> but due to their devotion they are not able to complete it; they start with praises, but end up singing pallANdu to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Such is the trouble that their love creates!<\/p>\n<p><em>perum kIrthi mozhindhida<\/em> \u2013 isn\u2019t it my ignorance to try to use words to sing about <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a> whose fame is beyond words!\u00a0Due to their bhakthi causing them to lose their state, they start singing pallANdu to him; due to my ignorant mind, I am only trying to use the words to praise him (instead of doing pallANdu to him).<\/p>\n<p>In earlier pAsuram he said \u2018<em>pEr iyal nenjE<\/em>\u2019, praising it; now he is saying \u2018<em>pAvi nenju<\/em>\u2019.
