agalgillEn&#8217; (would not leave even for a moment)<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 6.10.10])),<br \/>\n<em>porundhiya mArban \u2013<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAn<\/a> having such a divine chest where <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pirAttiar <\/a>stays every moment<br \/>\n<em>pugazh<\/em> \u2013 (whose) auspicious qualities<br \/>\n<em>malindha<\/em> \u2013 are filled in the<br \/>\n<em>pA<\/em> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a>,<br \/>\n<em>mannu<\/em> \u2013 which is filled in the mind of<br \/>\n<em>mARan<\/em> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(nam)AzhwAr<\/a>, (like he said in [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> 8-10-5] <em>kavi amudham nugarchchi uRumO muzhudhum<\/em>)<br \/>\n<em>adi paNindhu uyndhavan<\/em> \u2013 (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rAmAnujar<\/a>) lived by surrendering to (such <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AzhwAr<\/a>\u2019s) divine feet<br \/>\n<em>palkalaiyOr<\/em> <em>thAm<\/em> \u2013 even though they learned many sAsthras, they could not understand its inner meanings; and so after understanding it (from <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>)<br \/>\n<em>manna<\/em> \u2013 (they) surrendered to and stayed with (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>)<br \/>\n<em>vandha<\/em> \u2013 (such) avathAram (of)<br \/>\n<em>irAmAnusan<\/em> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>,<br \/>\n<em>charaNa ara<\/em><em>vindham<\/em> \u2013 (his) divine lotus feet<br \/>\n<em>nAm<\/em> \u2013 we (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amudhanAr<\/a> and his heart) who know that this (divine lotus feet) is the goal\/destiny for us,<br \/>\n<em>manni vAzha<\/em> \u2013 to live under it,<br \/>\n<em>nenjE<\/em>! \u2013 oh mind\/heart!<br \/>\n<em>solluvOm<\/em> \u2013 we shall recite<br \/>\n<em>avan<\/em> \u2013 his (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s)<br \/>\n<em>nAmangaLE<\/em> \u2013 divine names (only)<\/p>\n<p>Also:<\/p>\n<p><em>thAm manna<\/em> \u2013 the pundits themselves came and surrendered to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>.<br \/>\n<em>nAm manna<\/em> \u2013 we who had been under the feet of other insignificant matters all those countless lives, shall surrender to him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vyAkyAnam (provided by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/08\/pillai-lokam-jiyar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">piLLai lOkam jIyar<\/a>)<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>avathArikai (Introduction to pAsuram 1)<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>piLLai <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amudhanAr<\/a>, by the grace of his AchAryan (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a>), got the inner meanings of the two kaNdam (parts) of manthra rathnam (dhvayam), which are learned in protected ways (parama rahasyam \u2013 even the sound for dhvayam is not recited loudly; \u2013 change nArAyaNa to rAmAnuja and you get the inner meaning; and prApakam (destiny) is AchAryan\u2019s divine feet; and we can survive only based on AchAryan\u2019s loving acceptance of us (<em>Acharya abhimanamE uththArakam<\/em> [srIvachana bhUshaNam])), and as he wanted to share the experience of its meanings with others, like said in \u2018<em>Eka: svAthu na bhunjItha\u2019<\/em> (do not eat alone (share with others)), and like how one would want others to go with them when trying to cross a river having floods, as <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amudhanAr<\/a> was immersed in the flood that is the experience of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s auspicious qualities he wanted some company to enjoy that; <a href=\"http:\/\/ponnadi.blogspot.in\/2012\/10\/archavathara-anubhavam-andal-anubhavam.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANdAL <\/a>also wanted adiyArs<em> (<\/em><em>nIrAdap pOdhuvIr pOdhuminO<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2014\/12\/thiruppavai-01-margazhi-thingal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thiruppAvai 1<\/a>]) for sharing her divine experience;<\/p>\n<p>as he searched for such a company in both this world and the other world, the nithyasUris and mukthars, are, like said in<em> \u2018sadhA pashyanthi\u2019, <\/em>they were fully immersed in the enjoyment of parathvam (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAn<\/a> in srIvaikuNtam), happily singing sAma gAnam, and as said in<em> \u2018<\/em><em>na uba janam smaran idham sarIram<\/em>\u2019 (when an AthmA leaves, it sets sight only on the other world, and would not even see its own sarIram &#8211; body &#8211; and definitely not look at the relatives), the nithyasUris and mukthars are not paying any attention to leelA vibUthi (where <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amudhanAr<\/a> was present);<\/p>\n<p>in leelA vibhUthi, the samsAris were ignorant, and as said in \u2018<em>nandhanthi udhitha AdhithyE, nandhanthi asthamithEravau\u2019<\/em> (sun rises \u2013&gt; happiness because we are going to go out and enjoy the world; sun sets -&gt; happiness because going to enjoy with family at home; enjoying this world); and as said in \u2018<em>uNdiyE udaiyE ugandhu Odum im maNdalam<\/em>\u2019 [perumAL thirumozhi 3-4 of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/18\/kulasekara-azhwar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kulasEkara AzhwAr<\/a>] they were just happily involved in eating, dressing, etc., and as said in \u2018<em>puRamE puRamE Adi\u2019<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thiruvAimozhi <\/a>5.1.1] were focusing their mind on the hair of women and were not focused on the truth, and were deep in material aspects;<\/p>\n<p>{What about <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s adiyArs (disciples) who were living at that time with <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>? Would even they have ignored <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amudhanAr<\/a>\u2019s call for enjoyment?} &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Those with deep knowledge of the truth as having connection with <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>, were, like said in \u2018<em>pAlE pOl seer\u2019<\/em> [periya thiruvanthAdhi 58], finding joy in auspicious qualities of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAnAr<\/a>, and like <em>\u2018kAl Azhum nenju azhiyum\u2019<\/em> [periya\u00a0thiruvandhAdhi-34]<em> , <\/em>were deeply immersed in it;<\/p>\n<p>So none of these four were giving company to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amudhanAr<\/a>, and so he is calling his mind which is always commonly available during good and bad times, to give him company.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is a considerable parallel between this pAsuram and <a href=\"https:\/\/srivaishnavagranthams.wordpress.com\/purvacharya-literature\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">yathirAja vimsathi<\/a>. (Also, yathirAja vimsathi is pUrva kAndam for ramAnuja dhvayam; and <a href=\"https:\/\/srivaishnavagranthams.wordpress.com\/purvacharya-literature\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arthi prabandham<\/a> is uththara kAndam (srImathE rAmAnujAya nama:) \u00a0vEdhAnthAchAryar\u2019s yathirAja sapthathi includes both kAndams about <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rAmAnujar<\/a>\ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/pU_mannu_mAdhu_57wm3da.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3592\" src=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/pU_mannu_mAdhu_57wm3da-719x1024.jpg\" alt=\"pU_mannu_mAdhu_57wm3da\" width=\"319\" height=\"455\" srcset=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/pU_mannu_mAdhu_57wm3da-719x1024.jpg 719w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/pU_mannu_mAdhu_57wm3da-211x300.jpg 211w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/pU_mannu_mAdhu_57wm3da-768x1093.jpg 768w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/pU_mannu_mAdhu_57wm3da.jpg 843w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 319px) 100vw, 319px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>pU mannu mAdhu <\/em><\/strong> &#8211; pU -&gt; lotus; pU mannu -&gt; padhmE sthithAm -&gt; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pirAtti <\/a>well set in the lotus flower. (This is in the last part of pAcha rAthram, lakshmi thanthram where <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">periya pirAttiyAr<\/a> talks to indhran about her vaibhavam \u2013 that is srI suktham). <em>malar mEl mangai<\/em> \u2013 also means the same.<\/p>\n<p>It was as if the fragrance and beauty of the lotus flower was in the form of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">periya pirAttiAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It was as if the definition of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pirAtti<\/a> was to be on the lotus flower.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/mAdhu_porundhiya_mArban.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3594\" src=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/mAdhu_porundhiya_mArban.jpg\" alt=\"mAdhu_porundhiya_mArban\" width=\"469\" height=\"439\" srcset=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/mAdhu_porundhiya_mArban.jpg 961w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/mAdhu_porundhiya_mArban-300x281.jpg 300w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/mAdhu_porundhiya_mArban-768x719.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 469px) 100vw, 469px\" \/><\/a><em>mAdhu porundhiya mArban (one having lakshmi in his divine chest)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>(mAdhu) porundhiya mArban<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 but once <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAn <\/a>took her to be her consort, and as she enjoyed the divinity of his chest (mArbu), she forgot all about the lotus flower, and is always staying in his divine chest \u2013 <em>agalagillEn iRaiyum <\/em>(would never leave (his divine chest)) [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thiruvAimozhi <\/a>6-10-10] \u2013<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sarvEshwaran<\/a> who has got such a divine chest \u2013 mArban.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">amudhanAr<\/a> does not directly specify the name of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAn<\/a>, but says the one having the chest in which <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pirAtti <\/a>is always residing;<\/p>\n<p>mArban-&gt; mAdhu (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pirAtti<\/a>) is nirUpaka dharam (one who is the identifier) for <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">emperumAn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>visEshya bhUthan -&gt;
