One is instantly freed of their sins just by hearing, thinking or reciting (\/depiction) of this episode of gajEndhra mOksha or liberation of elephant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In this way, he is called \u2018puNyaSravaNakIrthana:\u2019 \u2013 the one whose glories confer merits upon hearing or singing.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: Since one gets rid of their sins instantly upon hearing the glories of bhagavAn through the episode of gajEndhra mOksha, bhagavAn is called \u2018puNyaSravaNakIrthana:\u2019. Thus, he is called \u2018puNya:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: With the singing of this glorious gajEndhra mOksha episode, all of us are purified, which is why bhagavAn is called \u2018puNya:\u2019. He is only \u2018dhu:svapnanASana:\u2019 \u2013 the one who removes all bad dreams.<\/p>\n<p>bhagavAn himself claims this in the vishNu dharma, where he starts by saying \u201cThose who remember me, you and the pond&#8230;\u201d and concludes saying \u201c&#8230;they shall have no bad dreams\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It means that bhagavAn is capable of removing the effects of bad dreams.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: He, who instantly removes the effect of bad dreams for the chanters (or meditators) of gajEndhra mOksha episode, is called \u2018dhu:svapnanASana:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u0917\u091c\u0946\u0928\u094d\u0926\u094d\u0930\u092e\u094a\u0915\u094d\u0937\u0923\u093e\u0927\u094d\u092f\u093e\u092f\u091c\u092a\u093e\u0924\u094d \u0926\u0941\u0903\u0938\u094d\u0935\u092a\u094d\u0928\u091c\u0902 \u092b\u0932\u092e\u094d |<br \/>\u0928\u093e\u0936\u092f\u0924\u094d\u092f\u091e\u094d\u091c\u0938\u093e \u092f\u094as\u0938\u094c \u092d\u0935\u0946\u0924\u094d \u0926\u0941\u0903\u0938\u094d\u0935\u092a\u094d\u0928\u0928\u093e\u0936\u0928\u0903 ||<\/p>\n<p>927) <u>vIrahA<\/u> (\u0935\u0940\u0930\u0939\u093e) (also seen in 168 and 747)<\/p>\n<p>bhagavAn is called \u2018vIrahA\u2019 since he eliminated the trouble maker (crocodile) for the elephant.<\/p>\n<p>[NOTE: This crocodile itself is being called \u2018vIra\u2019 in this divine name, and bhagavAn is referred to as the slayer of the valorous crocodile]<\/p>\n<p>The vishNu dharma notes this by saying: \u201cbhagavAn freed the king of elephants \u2013 who had surrendered unto him \u2013 from the clutches of the crocodile\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: He is called \u2018vIrahA\u2019, who slew the valorous trouble causing crocodile that had come to the elephant in the form of its death.<\/p>\n<p>\u0935\u0940\u0930\u0902 \u0924\u0926\u094d\u092c\u093e\u0927\u0915\u0902 \u092e\u0943\u0924\u094d\u092f\u0941\u0902 \u0939\u0924\u0935\u093e\u0928\u094d \u0935\u0940\u0930\u0939\u093e \u0938\u094d\u092e\u0943\u0924\u0903 |<\/p>\n<p>928) <u>rakshaNa:<\/u> (\u0930\u0915\u094d\u0937\u0923\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>After killing the crocodile, bhagavAn protected the elephant by touching it, embracing it, consoling it etc. Thus, he is called \u2018rakshaNa:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The vishNu dharma says: \u201cHe touched the elephant with his hands&#8230;\u201d, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: Since bhagavAn protected the elephant by his touch, embrace, etc, he is called \u2018rakshaNa:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u0938\u094d\u092a\u0930\u094d\u0936\u0938\u0902\u0936\u094d\u0932\u0946\u0937\u0923\u093e\u0926\u094d\u092f\u0948\u0938\u094d\u0924\u0902 \u0930\u0915\u094d\u0937\u0924\u0940\u0924\u093f \u0938 \u0930\u0915\u094d\u0937\u0923\u0903 |<\/p>\n<p>929) <u>santha:<\/u> (\u0938\u0928\u094d\u0924\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>In this way, bhagavAn is ever united with his dear devotees who have surrendered unto him. Thus, he is called \u2018santha:\u2019. The root \u2018than\u2019 (\u0924\u0928\u094d) gets the \u2018da:\u2019 (\u0921\u0903) adjunct per grammatical rules.<\/p>\n<p>Alternately, bhagavAn lives exclusively for the sake of his devotees. Thus, he is called \u2018santha:\u2019. There is a transmutation of the number in this divine name in this case (singular v\/s plural).<\/p>\n<p>There is a third meaning to this as well. It means that bhagavAn bestows all the desires of his dear devotees. This is the nature of the \u2018giver\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: He who unites with his dear devotees who have surrendered unto him is called \u2018santha:\u2019. Alternately, he who lives exclusively for the sake of his devotees is called \u2018santha:\u2019, where the number is just a mutation. Thus, he is called \u2018jIvana:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The vishNu dharma hails thus: \u201cThat gandharva named \u2018hoohoo\u2019 himself attained the crocodile form due to the dhEvala maharishi\u2019s curse.
