Thus he is called \u2018nahusha:\u2019 \u2013 the one who binds. The word \u2018nahyathi\u2019 (\u0928\u0939\u094d\u092f\u0924\u093f) means to bind. Thus, the etymologists indicate the meaning of this name as \u2018the one who binds\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>As the SvEthASvathara upanishath puts it, \u201cAll of these are bound in his mAyA\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: Since bhagavAn always binds the individual souls with his power of \u2018mAyA\u2019, he is called \u2018nahusha:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u091c\u0940\u0935\u093e\u0928\u094d \u0938\u094d\u0935\u092e\u093e\u092f\u092f\u093e \u0928\u093f\u0924\u094d\u092f\u0902 \u0928\u0939\u0941\u0937\u094a \u0928\u092f\u0924\u0940\u0924\u093f \u0938\u0903 |<\/p>\n<p>314) <u>vrusha:<\/u> (\u0935\u0943\u0937\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>The same bhagavAn \u2013 who binds the individual souls in this material creation with his strange power called \u2018mAyA\u2019 \u2013 also revives such souls stuck in the interiors of this ocean (called samsAra) with his nectarine words and charming beauty, and revitalizes them with his nectarine showers of love. Thus, he is called \u2018vrusha:\u2019 \u2013 the one who sprinkles\/showers.<\/p>\n<p>This divine name comes from the root \u2018vruSh\u2019 (\u0935\u0943\u0937\u094d), meaning \u2018to shower\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>mArkandEya maharishi says thus in the AraNya parva of mahAbhAratha: \u201cThence that boy with lotus-like eyes, a chest adorned with a mark called \u2018SrIvathsa\u2019, and a divine body full of effulgence spoke pleasing words to me thus: \u2018Oh mArkandEya, I have known you. Having uprooted twenty one generations of unruly kshathriyas, since bhagavAn as paraSurAma subdued his anger at the behest of kashyapa, he is called \u2018krOdhahA\u2019 \u2013 the one who subdued his anger.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: The one who subdued his anger that splay ill upon the kshathriyas, at the behest of kashyapa, is called \u2018krOdhahA\u2019.
