Thus he is called \u2018naikarUpa:\u2019 \u2013 the one who manifests in numerous forms.<\/p>\n<p>The manthra varNas in vEdhas hail thus while saluting bhagavAn: \u201cI salute repeatedly that bhagavAn whose form is universal\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In bhagavath gIthA, arjuna claims thus: \u201cI behold your glorious universal form which is infinitely expansive in all directions, with numerous heads, hands, abdomens, tongues, and eyes, which has neither a beginning nor an end\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: The one who always manifests in numerous forms is called \u2018naikarUpa:\u2019. With a multitude of forms, the one who is beheld by all of his devotees according to each of their levels of knowledge is called \u2018naikarUpa:\u2019. Thus, he is called \u2018bruhadhrUpa:\u2019 \u2013 the one who has magnanimous forms.<\/p>\n<p>In the bhagavath gIthA, arjuna hails bhagavAn\u2019s viSvarUpam thus:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour glorious form has completely pervaded all of the available space in all directions on this earth and in the skies, as well as everywhere in between\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: The one whose form(s) is (are) so massive as to pervade all space is called \u2018bruhadhrUpa:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u0935\u094d\u092f\u093e\u092a\u094d\u0928\u0941\u0935\u0926\u094d\u092f\u0938\u094d\u092f \u0930\u0942\u092a\u0902 \u0924\u0941 \u092c\u0943\u0939\u0926\u094d\u0930\u0942\u092a\u0903 \u0938 \u0915\u0940\u0930\u094d\u0924\u093f\u0924\u0903 |<\/p>\n<p>274) <u>SipiviShta:<\/u> (\u0936\u093f\u092a\u093f\u0935\u093f\u0937\u094d\u091f\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>The word \u2018Sipi\u2019 (\u0936\u093f\u092a\u093f) connotes \u2018ray of light\u2019. The word \u2018vishta:\u2019 (pravishta:) means that he pervades such rays.<\/p>\n<p>As yAska puts it, \u201cthe word \u2018Sipaya:\u2019 represents rays; since such rays are entered by bhagavAn, he is called \u2018Sipivishta:\u2019\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The scriptures declare that the body hair of bhagavAn is full of effulgent rays like the shining sun.<\/p>\n<p>The bhagavath gIthA says thus: \u201cOh bhagavAn, you pervade all creatures through these most effulgent rays, which seem to be so fierce that they are ready to burn up everything\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: The word \u2018Sipaya:\u2019 refers to the rays. Since bhagavAn manifests by pervading all of such rays, he is called \u2018Sipivishta:\u2019. I shall give you the divine eyes with which you can behold my universal form in all its glory. Similarly, the word \u2018thEja:\u2019 (\u0924\u0946\u091c\u0938\u094d) refers to the capacity to overpower others. It also refers to glory. The word \u2018dhyuthi:\u2019 (\u0926\u094d\u092f\u0941\u0924\u093f\u0903) refers to effulgence. Since bhagavAn possesses all of these \u2013 power, overpowering capacity, fame and effulgence, he is called \u2018<u>OjasthEjOdhyuthidhara:\u2019<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p>This is a single name, and should not be split.<\/p>\n<p>The scriptures hail bhagavAn\u2019s glorious attributes thus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cJust as flies fall into fire all by themselves, so also the rAkshasas come with utmost urgency to get killed by bhagavAn\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cOh hrushIkESa, I sing all your glories\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cbhagavAn\u2019s divine form is so effulgent that it looks like a thousand suns shining brightly together in the sky\u201d etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Etymology: Extraordinary power is called as \u2018Oja:\u2019. The capacity to overpower others is termed as \u2018thEja:\u2019. It also means glory. \u2018dhyutih:\u2019 means effulgence. Therefore, oh greatest of Yadhava clan, you must do me a favor\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Further, since bhagavAn remains fierce to all of his opponents, he is called \u2018prathApana:\u2019. This is as hailed in the scriptures thus: \u201c\u2026with your ferocity, all your opponents get burnt\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: The one who possesses an enviable character that is well accepted even by dullards is called \u2018prakASAthmA\u2019.
