BhagavAn becomes the cause of this cycle of creation and destruction through the four faced brahmA and rudhra. He resides right in the caves of their hearts\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cbhagavAn is verily the indweller in you and in me, as well as in all these different creatures bearing various bodies.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Etymology: The one who resides again within the various dhEvas including the four faced brahmA as their indweller is called \u2018punarvasu:\u2019. (BhagavAn is already the indweller of all entities \u2013 sentient and insentient. Since he was born as the youngest son among the twelve Adhithyas, and thus was born as the younger brother of indhra, he is called \u2018upEndhra:\u2019 \u2013 the brother of indhra.<\/p>\n<p>The scriptures hail bhagavAn\u2019s advent thus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cThat eternal supreme soul who is devoid of births (due to karma) is born as the most qualified of all Adhithyas (out of his own free will). Oh king, the sons of adhithi are twelve in number, the eldest being indhra. Among them, bhagavAn vishNu is born as the youngest son \u2013 in whom the worlds reside.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cvishNu was born as the younger brother of indhra\u201d, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Etymology: The one who is born as the younger brother of even lower mortals like indhra is called \u2018upEndhra:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u0907\u0928\u094d\u0926\u094d\u0930\u0938\u094d\u092f\u093e\u092a\u094d\u092f\u0928\u0941\u091c\u0924\u094d\u0935\u0946\u0928 \u091c\u093e\u0924\u0936\u094d\u091a\u094a\u092a\u0946\u0928\u094d\u0926\u094d\u0930 \u0909\u091a\u094d\u092f\u0924\u0946 |<\/p>\n<p>154) <u>vAmana:<\/u> (\u0935\u093e\u092e\u0928\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>Since bhagavAn \u2013 as upEndhra \u2013 walked up to the sacrificial pyre of bali chakravarthi in order to help indhra, he is called \u2018vAmana:\u2019 \u2013 the dwarf, or the one who confers happiness. The scriptures say that he is called \u2018vAmana:\u2019 since he confers happiness among those who see his divine body, with his own effulgence. They say, \u201c\u2026that vAmana is the bearer of the divine body\u201d, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: Since he is the one who is capable of conferring happiness \u2013 with his own effulgence \u2013 to those who see his divine body, he is called vAmana:.<\/p>\n<p>\u0926\u0943\u0937\u094d\u091f\u094d\u092f\u093e \u0938\u094d\u0935\u0915\u093e\u0928\u094d\u0924\u094d\u092f\u093e \u0935\u093e\u092e\u093e\u0928\u093f \u0938\u0941\u0916\u093e\u0928\u093f \u0928\u092f\u0924\u0940\u0924\u093f \u0938 \u0935\u093e\u092e\u0928\u0903 |<\/p>\n<p>155) <u>prAmSu:<\/u> (\u092a\u094d\u0930\u093e\u0902\u0936\u0941\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>bhagavAn manifested as \u2018prAmSu:\u2019 right there, in that sacrificial ground. The root \u2018aS\u2019 (\u0905\u0936\u094d) (to pervade) gets the \u2018u\u2019 (\u0909) suffix as per the grammar rules, and it results in this divine name. This divine name refers to the one who pervaded the whole universe by growing as \u2018thrivikrama\u2019 in an instant. This is as per the scriptural statements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cThe moment the water fell on the hands of vAmana, he was no more a dwarf! He instantly grew in size as thrivikrama, with the sun and the moon at his chest falling down to his navel as he grew!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cMay that vAmana \u2013 who grew as thrivikrama in an instant, pervading all three worlds and glorious with his divine weapons \u2013 protect you all\u201d, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In support of such statements from purAnas, even the vEdhas audaciously declare thus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cbhagavAn vishNu measured all these worlds with his three steps\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cvishNu pervaded the whole world with his three steps\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cbhagavAn measured all these worlds in order to earn back the lost lands of indhra\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Etymology: bhagavAn is called \u2018prAmSu:\u2019 due to his pervasiveness (as thrivikrama).<\/p>\n<p>\u0935\u094d\u092f\u093e\u092a\u094d\u0924\u093f\u092e\u0924\u094d\u0935\u093e\u0924\u094d \u092a\u094d\u0930\u093e\u0902\u0936\u0941\u0936\u094d\u091a \u092a\u0930\u093f\u0915\u0940\u0930\u094d\u0924\u093f\u0924\u0903 |<\/p>\n<p>156) <u>amOgha:<\/u> (\u0905\u092e\u094a\u0918\u0903) (also repeated in 111)<\/p>\n<p>bhagavAn is called \u2018amOgha:\u2019, since none of his deeds are wasteful. The manthras describe him as the one with limitless influence. In this context, he is called \u2018amOgha:\u2019, since he graced both bali chakravarthi and indhra alike simultaneously, without any differentiation.<\/p>\n<p>The scriptures hail bhagavAn\u2019s divine deeds as vAmana\/thrivikrama thus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cIn the same instant, bhagavAn graced both bali as well as indhra alike. he bestowed upon bali a higher position comparable with that of indhra, and at the same time he got the status of dhEvas restored from bali in accepting the sacrifices in oblations\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWhen the water touched vAmana\u2019s hands, bali attained immeasurable fruits in this world at that very instant! Also, bali was conferred with the title of \u2018indhra\u2019 for a full period of a \u2018manvanthara\u2019 without any competition!\u201d, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Etymology: bhagavAn is called \u2018amOgha:\u2019 since he satisfied both bali and indhra alike at the same instant, and hence possesses immeasurable influence among entities. This is as said in scriptures:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cbhagavAn is the purest since he is untouched by any blemishes of expecting return favors\u201d, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: The greatest one doesn\u2019t expect even the smallest favor in return even among those whom he personally helped greatly is called \u2018Suchi:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u0938\u094d\u0935\u092f\u0902 \u0915\u0943\u0924\u094a\u092a\u0915\u093e\u0930\u0946\u0937\u0941 \u092f\u0924\u094d\u0915\u093f\u091e\u094d\u091a\u093f\u0924\u094d \u092a\u094d\u0930\u0924\u094d\u092f\u0941\u092a\u0915\u094d\u0930\u093f\u092f\u092e\u094d |<br \/>\u0905\u0928\u092a\u0946\u0915\u094d\u0937\u0938\u094d\u0925\u093f\u0924\u094a \u092f\u094as\u0938\u094c \u0936\u0941\u091a\u093f\u0903 \u0938\u094d\u092f\u093e\u0924\u094d \u0927\u0930\u094d\u092e\u0926\u094a \u092e\u0928\u0941\u0903 ||<\/p>\n<p>158) <u>Urjitha:<\/u> (\u090a\u0930\u094d\u091c\u093f\u0924\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>The one who possessed extraordinary strength that was required to slay\/arrest even the great warriors like namuchi (\u0928\u092e\u0941\u091a\u093f) (the son of mahAbali) and the like (when they tried to attack him for his deed as thrivikrama) is called \u2018Urjitha:\u2019 \u2013 the powerful. The word \u2018UrjA\u2019 (\u090a\u0930\u094d\u091c\u093e) (strength) is suffixed with \u2018ithach\u2019 (\u0907\u0924\u091a\u094d) adjunct, resulting in this divine name.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: The one who always possesses extraordinary strength (required to control enemies) is called \u2018Urjitha:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u090a\u0930\u094d\u091c\u093e \u092c\u0932\u0902 \u092f\u0938\u094d\u092f \u0928\u093f\u0924\u094d\u092f\u0902 \u0938\u0902\u091c\u093e\u0924\u093e \u0907\u0924\u094d\u092f\u0942\u0930\u094d\u091c\u093f\u0924\u0903 \u0938\u094d\u092e\u0943\u0924\u0903 |<\/p>\n<p>159) <u>athIndhra:<\/u> (\u0905\u0924\u0940\u0928\u094d\u0926\u094d\u0930\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>Although born as the youngest brother of indhra, since bhagavAn transcends indhra himself by his divine wealth and his purely selfless deeds, he is called \u2018athIndhra:\u2019 \u2013 the one who transcends indhra.<\/p>\n<p>bhagavAn is hailed by the scriptures as \u201cthe one who possesses unfathomable wealth\u201d and \u201cthe one whose deeds are way beyond those of vAyu and indhra\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: Although born as the younger brother of indhra, bhagavAn is called \u2018athIndhra:\u2019 due to his divine wealth that transcends the lower wealth of indhra.<\/p>\n<p>\u0907\u0928\u094d\u0926\u094d\u0930\u093e\u0928\u0941\u091c\u0924\u094d\u0935\u0946s\u092a\u093f \u0910\u0936\u094d\u0935\u0930\u094d\u092f\u093e\u0924\u094d \u0905\u0924\u0940\u0924\u094as\u0924\u0940\u0928\u094d\u0926\u094d\u0930 \u0909\u091a\u094d\u092f\u0924\u0946 |<\/p>\n<p>160) <u>samgraha:<\/u> (\u0938\u0902\u0917\u094d\u0930\u0939\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>The one who is very easily \/ effortlessly comprehended by his true devotees is called \u2018samgraha:\u2019 \u2013 the comprehended one.
