This name comes from the root \u2018man\u2019 (\u092e\u0928\u094d) \u2013 meaning \u2018knowledge\u2019 in this context (\u092e\u0928\u094d &#8211; \u091c\u094d\u091e\u093e\u0928\u0946). The suffix \u2018u:\u2019\u00a0 (\u0909\u0903) comes from the grammatical rule that says \u201c\u0936\u0943\u0938\u094d\u0935\u0943\u0938\u094d\u0928\u093f\u0939\u093f-\u0924\u094d\u0930\u092a\u094d\u092f\u0938\u093f\u0935\u0938\u093f-\u0939\u0928\u093f\u0915\u094d\u0932\u093f\u0926\u093f-\u092c\u0928\u094d\u0927\u093f\u092e\u0928\u093f\u092d\u094d\u092f\u0903 \u0909\u0903\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: Since bhagavAn\u00a0 creates all things just by a fraction of his\u00a0 thoughts, he is called \u2018manu:\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u0938\u0902\u0915\u0932\u094d\u092a-\u0932\u0935\u092e\u093e\u0924\u094d\u0930\u093e\u0924\u094d \u091a \u092e\u0928\u0928\u093e\u0924\u094d \u092e\u0928\u0941\u0903 \u0909\u091a\u094d\u092f\u0924\u0946 |<\/p>\n<p>52. thvashtA \u00a0(\u0924\u094d\u0935\u0937\u094d\u091f\u093e)<\/p>\n<p>For all such entities thus created merely out of his\u00a0 thought, since he categorizes the entities as gods, humans, animals and non-living objects by assigning them their respective names and forms, he\u00a0 is called \u2018thvashtA\u2019 \u2013 the one who gives names and forms to the entities.<\/p>\n<p>This divine name comes from the verb \u2018thvakshathi\u2019 (\u0924\u094d\u0935\u0915\u094d\u0937\u0924\u093f) \u2013 to produce bodies. This verb is suffixed with the \u2018thruch\u2019 \u00a0 (\u0924\u0943\u091a\u094d) adjunct, and the \u2018ka\u2019 in \u2018thvakshathi\u2019\u00a0 is dropped, resulting in the name \u2018thvashtA\u2019.\u00a0 In this context, producing bodies implies producing manifest organs from the subtle nature.<\/p>\n<p>Alternately, it can be said to have originated from the root \u2018thvish\u2019 \u00a0 (\u0924\u094d\u0935\u093f\u0937\u094d), meaning \u2018enlightening\u2019 or \u2018making known\u2019. The root gets the \u2018a\u2019kAra\u00a0 due to the \u2018thrun\u2019 adjunct being used, which results in the name \u2018thvashtA\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The scriptures reinforce this declaration thus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201c\u2026that \u2018thvashtA\u2019\u00a0 who is the producer of all bodies\u2026\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cFrom all the sentient and insentient entities, he\u00a0 created various forms and named them \u2013 all according to the vEdhas (meaning, similar to the forms and names of a previous creation), and hence he\u00a0 is the master of all entities)&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>\u201cHaving created all forms\u2026\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe glorification of names and forms of all the entities in this creation\u2026\u201d, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Etymology: Since he\u00a0 creates the various names and forms for entities in this creation, he\u00a0 is called \u2018thvashtA\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u0928\u093e\u092e\u0930\u0942\u092a-\u0935\u094d\u092f\u093e\u0915\u0930\u0923\u093e\u0924\u094d \u0924\u094d\u0935\u0937\u094d\u091f\u093e \u0938\u0943\u0937\u094d\u091f\u0938\u094d\u092f \u0917\u0926\u094d\u092f\u0924\u0946 |<\/p>\n<p>53. sthavishta: \u00a0(\u0938\u094d\u0925\u0935\u093f\u0937\u094d\u0920\u0903) (also repeated in 437)<\/p>\n<p>The next divine name of bhagavAn\u00a0 is said to be \u2018sthavishta:&#8217; \u2013 the one who is manifest. The word \u2018sthUla\u2019 (\u0938\u094d\u0925\u0942\u0932) \u2013 meaning \u2018manifest\u2019 \u2013 is conjoined with the adjunct \u2018ishtAn\u2019\u00a0 (\u0907\u0937\u094d\u0920\u0928\u094d). Per the pANinian\u00a0 grammar aphorism \u201c\u092f\u0923\u093e\u0926\u093f \u092a\u0930\u0932\u094a\u092a\u0903\u201d, \u2018la\u2019 from \u2018sthUla\u2019 gets dropped and \u2018U\u2019 (\u090a) changes to \u2018v\u2019 (\u0935\u094d). This finally results in the divine name \u2018sthavishta:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>As seen earlier, with a mere thought of multiplying into many forms, bhagavAn\u00a0 expanded his own form of subtle consortium of sentient and insentient entities into manifest forms of gods, humans, lower animals and non-living objects, providing them with the necessary bodies with faculties and also providing them with senses of sound, touch et al which can be experienced using such bodies, besides providing them with many modules called \u2018brahmANdams\u2019 \u2013 each containing fourteen worlds with a covering of manifest nature in seven forms \u2013 for them to reside in . This property is shown in this divine name.<\/p>\n<p>The scriptures confirm this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cThere is no end to my expansion\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe one who is the subtlest of the subtle entities expanded himself\u00a0 in the form of space, water, air, fire and earth\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cAll of these worlds are nothing but an expansion of the body of the all pervading vishNu\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cYou are the supreme godhead\u00a0 from whom all creatures manifest\u201d, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Etymology: Having expanded his\u00a0 own body into many forms, the one who gives manifestation to the subtle sentient and insentient entities \u2013 and thus who himself\u00a0 is manifest \u2013 is called \u2018sthavishta:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u092c\u0939\u0942\u092d\u0935\u0902\u0936\u094d\u091a \u0938\u0942\u0915\u094d\u0937\u094d\u092e\u093e\u0923\u093e\u0902 \u0938\u094d\u0925\u0942\u0932\u093e\u0935\u0938\u094d\u0925\u0924\u092f\u093e \u091a \u0938\u0903 |<br \/>\n\u0935\u093f\u0938\u094d\u0924\u093e\u0930\u0935\u0924\u094d\u0924\u094d\u0935\u093e\u0924\u094d \u092f\u0903 \u0938\u094d\u0925\u0942\u0932\u0903 \u0938\u094d\u0925\u0935\u093f\u0937\u094d\u0920\u0903 \u092a\u0930\u093f\u0915\u0940\u0930\u094d\u0924\u093f\u0924\u0903 ||<\/p>\n<p>54. sthavira:\u00a0 (\u0938\u094d\u0925\u0935\u093f\u0930\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>Although having been the root cause for all this creation, his\u00a0 natural difference from the lower material causes such as the mud (for a pot), et al is shown in this divine name \u2018sthavira:\u2019 \u00a0 \u2013 the one who is constant.<\/p>\n<p>The root \u2018sthA\u2019 (\u0938\u094d\u0925\u093e) \u2013 meaning \u2018to stand\u2019 \u2013 is suffixed with the \u2018kirach\u2019 (\u0915\u093f\u0930\u091a\u094d) adjunct, loses the stress on \u2018A\u2019 \u0906 and becomes hrasva or short (a \u0905), and gets a new word \u2018vuk\u2019 added, resulting in this name \u2018sthavira:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The name means \u2018the one who is constant at all times\u2019. Although he\u00a0 uses time as a tool for all his divine plays, he is not affected by time himself.\u00a0 Thus, his natural uniqueness from the other lower materials such as milk, curds et al \u2013 which are affected by time \u2013 is shown in this divine name. He is not affected by time, since even time is in his\u00a0 control.<\/p>\n<p>The scriptures say: \u201cI tell you the truth.\u00a0 bhagavAn alone is the controller of time, as also death, the moveable and immoveable entities\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cbhagavAn kESava always wields the wheels namely kAla-chakram, jagath -chakram and yuga-chakram with his\u00a0 own powers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cbhagavAn engages time as per his desires. There (in paramapadham ), time is not the ruler\u201d, et al.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: The one who is unique to the lower material causes such as milk, curds etc due to his\u00a0 natural superiority over time is called \u2018sthavira:\u2019 (OR) the one who is constant at all times due to his\u00a0 rulership over time is called \u2018sthavira:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u0915\u093e\u0932\u093e\u0924\u0928\u094d\u0924\u094d\u0930\u0924\u092f\u093e \u0926\u0941\u0917\u094d\u0927-\u0926\u0927\u094d\u092f\u093e\u0926\u093f\u092d\u094d\u092f\u094a \u0935\u093f\u0932\u0915\u094d\u0937\u0923\u0903 |<br \/>\n\u0935\u093f\u0926\u094d\u092f\u0924\u0946 \u092f\u0903 \u0938\u0930\u094d\u0935\u0915\u093e\u0932\u0903 \u0938\u094d\u0925\u0935\u093f\u0930\u0903 \u092a\u0930\u093f\u0915\u0940\u0930\u094d\u0924\u093f\u0924\u0903 ||<\/p>\n<p>55. dhruva: \u00a0(\u0927\u094d\u0930\u0941\u0935\u0903) (also repeated in 390)<\/p>\n<p>Although being transformed in numerous ways in order to create this manifest world, since he\u00a0 is unchanging by nature, he is called \u2018dhruva:\u2019 \u2013 the unchanging one.<\/p>\n<p>The root used here is \u2018dhru\u2019 (\u0927\u094d\u0930\u0941) and used in the context of \u2018firmness\u2019. The aphorism \u201c\u0928\u0941\u0926\u093e\u0926\u093f\u092d\u094d\u092f\u094a\u0923\u0932\u094d\u0915\u094c\u201d causes the adjunct \u2018kaH\u2019 (\u0915\u0903) to be used to result in this divine name. This is similar to the cases in other names such as \u2018guha:\u2019\u00a0 \u0917\u0941\u0939\u0903 (365), \u2018vrusha:\u2019 \u0935\u0943\u0937\u0903 (314), \u2018nimisha:\u2019 \u00a0 \u0928\u093f\u092e\u093f\u0937\u0903 (215), et al, which also end with the \u2018ka:\u2019 adjunct.<\/p>\n<p>The scriptures confirm thus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201c\u2026 the invincible, eternal and the unchanging one\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cTo him\u00a0 who is unchanging and pure\u2026\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe one who has neither deterioration nor destruction\u2026\u201d, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Etymology: The one who does not undergo any changes by nature at anytime is called \u2018dhruva:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u0905\u092a\u094d\u0930\u091a\u094d\u092f\u093e\u0935\u094d\u092f\u0903 \u0938\u094d\u0935\u0938\u094d\u0935\u0930\u0942\u092a\u093e\u0924\u094d \u0938\u0926\u093e \u092f\u094as\u0938\u094c \u0927\u094d\u0930\u0941\u0935\u0903 \u0938\u094d\u092e\u0943\u0924\u0903|<\/p>\n<p>==============================<br \/>\n\u0905\u0917\u094d\u0930\u093e\u0939\u094d\u092f\u0903 \u0936\u093e\u0936\u094d\u0935\u0924\u0903 \u0915\u0943\u0937\u094d\u0923\u094a \u0932\u094a\u0939\u093f\u0924\u093e\u0915\u094d\u0937\u0903 \u092a\u094d\u0930\u0924\u0930\u094d\u0926\u0928\u0903 \u0964<br \/>\n\u092a\u094d\u0930\u092d\u0942\u0924\u0938\u094d\u0924\u094d\u0930\u093f\u0915\u0915\u0941\u0926\u094d\u0927\u093e\u092e\u093e \u092a\u0935\u093f\u0924\u094d\u0930\u0902 \u092e\u0919\u094d\u0917\u0932\u0902 \u092a\u0930\u092e\u094d \u0965 \u096d \u0965<br \/>\n==============================<\/p>\n<p>56. agrAhya: \u00a0(\u0905\u0917\u094d\u0930\u093e\u0939\u094d\u092f\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>The one who is not ruled by anyone else \u2013 like the mud, thread, et al being controlled by a potter, a weaver et al respectively \u2013 is called by the divine name \u2018agrAhya:\u2019 \u00a0 \u2013 the imperceptible.<\/p>\n<p>The root word is suffixed with \u2018Nyath\u2019\u00a0 (\u0923\u094d\u092f\u0924\u094d) per the grammatical rule \u201c\u090b\u0939\u0932\u094a\u0930\u094d\u0923\u094d\u092f\u0924\u094d\u201d. Similar is the case in other divine names such as \u2018vEdhya:\u2019\u00a0 \u0935\u0946\u0926\u094d\u092f\u0903 (165), \u2018mAnya:\u2019\u00a0 \u092e\u093e\u0928\u094d\u092f\u0903 (755), et al, which also end with the adjunct \u2018Nyath\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The scriptures say thus in describing bhagavAn:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cNone has seen the top, middle or the bottom (representing the limits) of his \u2026\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cHe pervades all entities right from the four faced brahmA\u00a0 downwards\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cHe alone pervades everything\u201d, et al.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Etymology: He is called \u2018agrAhya:\u2019\u00a0 who cannot be ruled like the mud in the control of a potter (OR) he\u00a0 is the one who cannot be perceived.<\/p>\n<p>\u0905\u0917\u094d\u0930\u093e\u0939\u094d\u092f\u094a \u092f\u094as\u0928\u0927\u093f\u0937\u094d\u0920\u0946\u092f\u094a \u092e\u0943\u0924\u094d\u0924\u093f\u0915\u0946\u0935 \u0915\u0941\u0932\u093e\u0932\u0915\u0948\u0903 |<\/p>\n<p>57. SASvatha: \u00a0(\u0936\u093e\u0936\u094d\u0935\u0924\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>Thus, he is also \u2018SASvatha:\u2019\u00a0 \u2013 the eternal. He is known to be eternally present since he\u00a0 is the one who continually conducts the activities of the world, as shown by the scriptures that say \u201cthe creation, maintenance and destruction of worlds happen uninterruptedly by bhagavAn \u201d et al.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: The acts of creation, maintenance and destruction of worlds are uninterruptedly carried out by bhagavAn,\u00a0 in a constant flow, which is why he is eternal and is called \u2018SASvatha:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u0905\u0935\u094d\u092f\u0941\u091a\u094d\u091b\u093f\u0928\u094d\u0928\u093e\u0903 \u0924\u0924\u0938\u094d\u0924\u094d\u0935\u0946\u0924\u0946 \u0938\u0943\u0937\u094d\u091f\u093f-\u0938\u094d\u0925\u093f\u0924\u094d\u092f\u0928\u094d\u0924-\u0938\u0902\u092f\u092e\u093e\u0903 |<br \/>\n\u0905\u0924\u0903 \u0938\u0926\u093e \u092a\u094d\u0930\u0935\u093e\u0939\u0924\u094d\u0924\u094d\u0935\u093e\u0924\u094d \u0928\u093f\u0924\u094d\u092f\u0903 \u0936\u093e\u0936\u094d\u0935\u0924 \u0909\u091a\u094d\u092f\u0924\u0946 ||<\/p>\n<p>58. krishNa: \u00a0(\u0915\u0943\u0937\u094d\u0923\u0903) (also repeated in 554)<\/p>\n<p>The one who is extraordinarily happy by such sport of creation, maintenance and destruction is called \u2018krishNa:\u2019\u00a0 \u2013 the ever-blissful one. The sages of yore have said thus about the divine name: \u201cthe word \u2018krushihi\u2019 (\u0915\u0943\u0937\u093f\u0903) is denotative of earth. The letter \u2018Na\u2019 (\u0923) is denotative of supreme bliss. The divine name \u2018krushNa:\u2019\u00a0 (\u0915\u0943\u0937\u094d\u0923\u0903) is a combination of these two words in their meanings.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: The one who is absorbed in supreme bliss by performing the acts of creation, destruction and maintenance in solitude is called \u2018krishNa:\u2019\u00a0 The word \u2018krushi:\u2019 \u2019 denotes earth (or creation) and \u2018Na\u2019 denotes the bliss therein.<\/p>\n<p>\u090e\u0915\u093e\u0928\u094d\u0924 \u0932\u0940\u0932\u093e\u0930\u0938\u0924\u094a \u0928\u093f\u0930\u094d\u0935\u0943\u0924\u0903 \u0915\u0943\u0937\u094d\u0923 \u0909\u091a\u094d\u092f\u0924\u0946 |<br \/>\n\u0915\u0943\u0937\u093f\u0903 \u092d\u0942\u0935\u093e\u091a\u0915\u0903 \u0936\u092c\u094d\u0926\u0903 \u0923\u0936\u094d\u091a \u0928\u093f\u0930\u094d\u0935\u0943\u0924\u093f\u0935\u093e\u091a\u0915\u0903 ||<\/p>\n<p>59. lOhithAksha: \u00a0(\u0932\u094a\u0939\u093f\u0924\u093e\u0915\u094d\u0937\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>The one who sports a pair of very pleasing lotus-like reddish eyes that show off his\u00a0 supreme bliss (explained in the previous name) is called \u2018lOhithAksha:\u2019 \u00a0\u00a0\u2013 the red eyed one.<\/p>\n<p>Etymology: The one who sports a pair of reddish lotus-like eyes is called \u2018lOhithAksha:\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u0930\u0915\u094d\u0924-\u0930\u093e\u091c\u0940\u0935\u0928\u092f\u0928\u094a \u0932\u094a\u0939\u093f\u0924\u093e\u0915\u094d\u0937\u0903 \u092a\u094d\u0930\u0915\u0940\u0930\u094d\u0924\u093f\u0924\u0903 |<\/p>\n<p>60. prathardhana: \u00a0(\u092a\u094d\u0930\u0924\u0930\u094d\u0926\u0928\u0903)<\/p>\n<p>The nature of being the destroyer of all is shown in with this divine name \u2018prathardhana:\u2019\u00a0 \u2013 meaning the destroyer. The word \u2018thardhi:\u2019\u00a0 (\u0924\u0930\u094d\u0926\u093f\u0903) means to slay. This is as per the scriptural statements that say thus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201c\u2026for whom both the brAhmins and kshathriyas\u00a0 are food\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cHe is the eater, since he\u00a0 seizes all sentient and insentient entities\u201d, et al.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Etymology:\u00a0 He is called \u2018prathardhana:\u2019 , \u00a0\u00a0to whom the class of brAhmins and kshathriyas\u00a0 (and thus all entities created) are the food at the time of destruction.
