This pAsuram says that emperumAn mingled completely with AzhwAr saying \u201cOther than this AzhwAr I do not want other dwellings such as <em>para<\/em> (SrIvaikuNtam), <em>vyUha<\/em> (thiruppARkadal \/milky ocean), <em>archchai<\/em> (deity form) etc\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>kallum kanaikadalum vaigundha vAnAdum<\/em><br \/>\n<em>pullenRozhindhanakol EpAvam vella<\/em><br \/>\n<em>nediyAn niRam kariyAn uLpugundhu nIngAn<\/em><br \/>\n<em>adiyEn uLLaththu agam<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>vella nediyAn \u2013 being very great<\/p>\n<p>niRam kariyAn \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> who is black in complexion<\/p>\n<p>uL pugundhu \u2013 entering me<\/p>\n<p>adiyEnadhu uLLaththu agam \u2013 from my heart<\/p>\n<p>nIngAn \u2013 will not separate and go<\/p>\n<p>(Hence)<\/p>\n<p>kallum \u2013 thiruvEngadamalai (hills of thirumala)<\/p>\n<p>kanai kadalum \u2013 roaring thiruppARdakal (milky ocean)<\/p>\n<p>vaigundha vAnAdum \u2013 SrIvaikuNtam, also known as paramapadham<\/p>\n<p>pul enRu ozhin dhana kol \u2013 have they become deserted (such that grass has grown tall)?<\/p>\n<p>E pAvam \u2013 Oh, how sad!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>kallum<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> refers to thirumalai as <em>kal <\/em>(stone). Is it correct to refer to thirumalai as <em>kal<\/em>? The relationship between <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/azhwars\/\">AzhwArs<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is such that they would refer to thirumalai as <em>kal<\/em>, thiruvananthAzhwAn (AdhiSeshan) as <em>tham pAmbu<\/em> (his snake) (as in nAchchiyAr thirumozhi 10-3), and in verses such as <em>mANiyAy maNNaLandhAy<\/em> (measured the worlds as a bachelor), they refer to emperumAn as a bachelor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kallum kanai kadalum vaigundha vAnAdum pul enRu ozhindhana kol EpAvam<\/strong> \u2013\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> does not appear to believe that there are certain divine locations such as thirumalai or that there is a vyUha location such as thiruppARkadal or that there is a paramapadham and that he has inclination towards these locations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>pul enRu ozhindhana kol<\/strong> \u2013 When looking at the way he [<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>] is engaged with my heart, it appears that those locations have become bushes (due to non-inhabitation). We could also consider the meaning of this to be \u2013 these divine dwelling places have become insignificant after <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> entered <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a>\u2019s heart. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/periyavachchan-pillai\/\">periyavAchchAn piLLai<\/a>, the commentator for this prabandham says that the attitude of AzhwAr while saying this is similar to the attitude of the girls who married the sage saubhari.<\/p>\n<p>The reference is to a narration regarding a sage saubhari who took fifty human forms to marry fifty daughters of a king and lived in a palace with each of the fifty daughters. When the king went around his daughters\u2019 palaces to check if they had any grievance, all of them said the same line \u201cI have no problem, but my husband does not go to any other sister\u2019s house\u201d. In the same way <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says that <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> has forgotten all other residences and is dwelling only in his heart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EpAvam<\/strong> \u2013 this appears to be the result of some sin; however, since there is no sin in this, we can consider this to be an expression of wonder.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vella nediyAn<\/strong> \u2013 being great in the quality of boundlessness, he cannot be defeated by anyone. Alternatively, the term <em>vella<\/em> could be taken to mean \u201cvery\u201d (a lot) and thus the meaning of <em>vella nediyAn <\/em>could be taken to mean that <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is one who is very great and there is none who is greater than he. Here, the term greatness refers to the greatness of his qualities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>niRam kariyAn<\/strong> \u2013 even if he does not have qualities, he cannot be given up due to the beauty of his form.<\/p>\n<p><strong>uLpugundhu nIngAn adiyEnadhu uLLaththu agam<\/strong> \u2013 entering my heart, he does not appear to consider leaving it.
