Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>adhuvO nanRenRu angu amarulagO vENdil<\/em><br \/>\n<em>adhuvO poruLillai anRE adhu ozhindhu<\/em><br \/>\n<em>maNNinRu ALvEn enilum kUdu(m) mada nenjE<\/em><br \/>\n<em>kaNNan thAL vAzhththuvadhE kal<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>angu adhu nanRu enRu \u2013 knowing that enjoying <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> at paramapadham (SrI vaikuNtam) is good<\/p>\n<p>amar ulagu vENdil \u2013 if (you ) desire SrIvaikuNtam, the dwelling place of nithyasUris<\/p>\n<p>adhu \u2013 that paramapadham<\/p>\n<p>poruL illai anRE \u2013 is not a significant material (which <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> cannot grant us)<\/p>\n<p>adhu ozhindhu \u2013 leaving aside desiring that paramapadham<\/p>\n<p>maN ninRu ALvEn enilum \u2013 if one desires to remain in this world and enjoy its pleasures<\/p>\n<p>kUdum \u2013 it is possible (for us to get that)<\/p>\n<p>mada nenjE \u2013 Oh mind, which is obedient towards me!<\/p>\n<p>kaNNan thAL \u2013 (leaving aside all these things) only the divine feet of kaNNan (krishNa)<\/p>\n<p>vAzhththuvadhE \u2013 praising<\/p>\n<p>kal &#8211; learn<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>adhuvO nanRu enRu angu amarulagO vENdil adhuvO poruL illai anRE<\/strong> \u2013 if you (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> tells his heart) desire paramapadham, the place where nithyasUris dwell, thinking that it is apt to enjoy <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> in paramapadham, it is not something which emperumAn cannot grant us. The term <em>amarulagu<\/em> is a modification of the term <em>amarar ulagu<\/em> (word of nithyasUris). Just as nammAzhwAr had said in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/08\/thiruvaimozhi-3-3-9-oyumuppu\/\">thiruvAimozhi 3-3-9<\/a> \u201c<em>vAnavar nAdu<\/em>\u201d (the country of nithyasUris), since emperumAn created SrIvaikuNtam only for the sake of nithyasUris, AzhwAr is referring to it as <em>amarulagu<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vENdil<\/strong> \u2013 while <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> could be seen and enjoyed in this world itself, it is rare for someone to leave this aside and desire paramapadham as mentioned in periya thiruvandhAdhi <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2019\/01\/periya-thiruvandhadhi-59\/\">pAsuram 53<\/a> \u201c<em>nin pugazhil vaigum than sindahiyilum maRRinidhO nI avarkku vaigundham enRaruLum vAn<\/em>\u201d (is your granting of SrIvaikuNtam to your devotees any sweeter than their minds in which they are constantly praising your auspicious qualities). The opinion here is that someone could think that enjoying emperumAn in this word is lowly since that experience is not permanent. Hence someone could desire to enjoy him in SrIvaikuNtam.<\/p>\n<p><strong>adhuvO poruL illai<\/strong> \u2013 it is not beyond <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> to grant us paramapadham. Just as it has been mentioned by <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> in periya thiruvandhAdhi pAsuram 53 \u201c<em>ninnadiyArkku enseyvan enRE iruththi nI<\/em>\u201d (you are constantly thinking of what else you could do for your devotees), it is not great for emperumAn to grant SrIvaikuNtam for his devotees since he desires to grant it to them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>anRu adhu ozhindhu maN ninRu ALvEn enilum kUdum mada nenjE<\/strong> \u2013 instead of that paramapadham, if one leaves it aside and wants to stay in this world and enjoy its pleasures, emperumAn would grant that too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>mada nenjE<\/strong> \u2013 for <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, granting either liberation [to reach SrIvaikuNtam] or pleasures [to enjoy in this world] is not difficult. More difficult is for us to have an attachment towards him. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> tells his mind \u201cSince you are an obedient mind, you have that inclination (of engaging with emperumAn)\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When his heart asks him as to what it should do, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> tells it . . . .<\/p>\n<p><strong>kaNNan thAL vAzhththuvadhE kal<\/strong> \u2013 try to learn and sing praises on the divine feet of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, who is very simple\u00a0 towards his devotees.
