In this pAsuram, he tells his heart to consider emperumAn as the means and the goal.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>nAn kURum kURRAvadhu iththanaiyE nANALum<\/em><br \/>\n<em>thEngOdha nIruruvan sengaNmAl nIngAdha<\/em><br \/>\n<em>mAgadhiyAm vennaragil sErAmal kAppadhaRku<\/em><br \/>\n<em>nIgadhiyA nenjE ninai<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>thEngu Odha nIr uruvan \u2013 one who has the colour of the stagnant ocean<br \/>\nsem kaN mAl \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">sarvESvaran<\/a> (lord of all) who has reddish eyes<br \/>\nnIngAdha mAgadhiyAm \u2013 is the final goal who does not (make us) return<br \/>\nvem naragil \u2013 in the cruel samsAram (materialistic realm)<br \/>\nsErAmal \u2013 so as not to fall<br \/>\nkAppadhaRku \u2013 to protect<br \/>\ngadhiyAm \u2013 he is also the means<br \/>\nnenjE \u2013 Oh heart!<br \/>\nnI \u2013 you<br \/>\nninai \u2013 think (about this)<br \/>\nnAn \u2013 I (who knew this)<br \/>\nnAl nALum \u2013 every day<br \/>\nkURum kURRAvadhu \u2013 the words which are said<br \/>\niththanaiyE \u2013 are only this much<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>nAn kURum kURRAvadhu iththanaiyE<\/strong> \u2013 All the words that I say are only these.<\/p>\n<p>Are these said on one day, on one occasion?<\/p>\n<p><strong>nANALum<\/strong> \u2013 on every day; all the time, on all occasions, these are all that I say.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> describes further as to what he says every day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thEngu Odham nIr uruvan sem kaN mAl nIngAdha mAgadhiyAm<\/strong> \u2013 he, who has the complexion of a stagnant ocean and who has the eyes which reveal that he is the lord of all, is the goal who does not send us back. The term <em>nIngAdha<\/em> refers to the quality by which, unlike the benefits in samsAram, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> does not let us to return [once we attain him].<\/p>\n<p><strong>vennaragil sErAmal kAppadhaRku gadhiyAm<\/strong> \u2013 He is also the means for protecting us from falling into the cruel hell called as samsAram.<\/p>\n<p><strong>nenjE nI ninai<\/strong> \u2013 Oh heart! You think about this. We can rearrange the words to form the verse <em>nIngAdha mAgadhiyA vennaragil sErAmal kAppadhaRku gadhiyA nI ninai <\/em>to get the meaning \u2013 Oh heart! Think of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> as the end goal, who does not allow us to return [to samsAram] and who is the means for preventing us from falling into the cruel hell called as samsAram. In both interpretations, the considered meaning is that emperumAn is both the means and the benefit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ninai<\/strong> \u2013 For the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">jIvAthmA<\/a> (soul) who has to attain emperumAn, the only activity to be performed is to think of emperumAn as both the means and the goal.
