As a corollary for that, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says in this pAsuram that this is the result of their sins.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>vagai sErndha nannenjum nAvudaiya vAyum<\/em><br \/>\n<em>miga vAyndhu vIzhAvenilum miga Ayndhu<\/em><br \/>\n<em>mAlaiththAm vAzhththAdhiruppar idhuvanRE<\/em><br \/>\n<em>mElaiththAm seyyum vinai<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>vagai sErndha \u2013 that which has come as the path (for manifesting knowledge)<br \/>\nnal nenjum \u2013 superior mind<br \/>\nnAvu udaiya \u2013 having tongue<br \/>\nvAyum \u2013 mouth too<br \/>\nmiga vAyndhu \u2013 involving deeply<br \/>\nvIzhA enilum \u2013 even if they do not attain (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>)<br \/>\nmiga Ayndhu \u2013 taking lot of troubles<br \/>\nmAlai \u2013 sarvESvaran (lord of all)<br \/>\nthAm vAzhththAdhiruppAr \u2013 samsAris will not praise emperumAn<br \/>\nmElai \u2013 since time immemorial<br \/>\nthAm seyyum vinai \u2013 the result of their sins<br \/>\nidhu anRE \u2013 is it not this?<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>For this pAsuram, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/parasara-bhattar\/\">bhattar<\/a> (parAsara bhattar, son of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/kuraththazhwan\/\">SrI kUraththAzhwAn<\/a>) and piLLai thirunaRaiyUr araiyar would give different interpretations. \u00a0bhattar\u2019s interpretation is described first:<\/p>\n<p><strong>vagai sErndha nal nenjum<\/strong> \u2013 the superior mind which is the gate for <em>gyAnam<\/em> (knowledge) to be manifested for the chEthana (sentient entity) who is with his physical body.<\/p>\n<p><strong>nAvudaiya vAyum<\/strong> \u2013 the tongue which has been created along with the mouth in order to praise <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>miga vAyndhu vIzhA enilum<\/strong> \u2013 even though they (sentient entities) do not get much involved with emperumAn since among the three qualities of <em>sathva<\/em> (pure goodness), <em>rajas<\/em> (passion) and <em>thamas<\/em> (ignorance) which they are controlled by, <em>rajas<\/em> and <em>thamas<\/em> overshadow <em>sathva.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>miga Ayndhu mAlaiththAm vAzhththAdhiruppar<\/strong> \u2013 Just as it is mentioned in <a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/14-17\/\">SrI bhagavath gIthA 14-17<\/a> \u201c<em>sathvAth sanjAyathE gyAnam rajasO lObha Eva cha<\/em> I <em>pramAdhamOhau thamasO bhavathO\u2019gyAna mEvacha<\/em> II\u201d (gyAnam (knowledge) results from sathvam (purely good qualities); desire (in svargam\/heaven etc) comes out of rajas; involvement in insentient deeds (not ordained for us), crooked knowledge and ignorance which arise out of carelessness, come from thamas), the knowledgeable sentient entities should push out qualities of rajas and thamas to the background and through their sAthvika AhAram (proper food intake which is prescribed for us) and connection with sAthvikas (those who have predominance of purely good qualities), praise sarvESvaran (supreme being). But most of the chEthanas do not do this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>idhuvanRE mElaiththAm seyyum vinai<\/strong> \u2013 isn\u2019t this the sinful deed which they carry out which makes them to remain as samsAris (dwellers of materialistic world) in the times to come? <em>mElai<\/em> \u2013 times to come.<\/p>\n<p>piLLai thirunaRaiyUr araiyar\u2019s interpretation is described next:<\/p>\n<p><strong>vagai sErndha nal nenjum nAvudaiya vAyum<\/strong> \u2013 the superior mind which engages with one specific quality of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s and the tongue which praises that quality.<\/p>\n<p><strong>miga vAyndhu vIzhA enilum<\/strong> \u2013 even though the mind and tongue do not engage with other qualities of emperumAn\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>miga Ayndhu mAlaith thAm vAzhththAdhiruppar<\/strong> \u2013 the knowledgeable chEthana should analyse all the qualities of emperumAn\u2019s and praise him. But, for most, it is not possible to praise emperumAn like this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>idhuvanRE mElaith thAm seyyum vinai<\/strong> \u2013 it is due to the result of sins which we have committed in the previous births that the mind and tongue are not engaging with all the qualities of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/parasara-bhattar\/\">bhattar<\/a>\u2019s interpretation, the term <em>vinai<\/em> refers to the sinful deed of not praising emperumAn.
