In this pAsuram, he says that he will not step back from protecting them even if they insult him either due to love or due to enmity.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>thAmbAl AppuNdAlum aththazhumbudhAn iLaga<\/em><br \/>\n<em>pAmbAl AppuNdu pAduRRAlum sOmbAdhu ip<\/em><br \/>\n<em>palluruvai ellAm padarviththa viththA nin<\/em><br \/>\n<em>tholluruvai yAr aRivAr sollu<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>thAmbAl \u2013 with (yaSOdhAppirAtti\u2019s) rope<br \/>\nAppuNdAlum \u2013 even if tied down<br \/>\naththazhumbudhAn iLaga \u2013 to make even that scar to appear small<br \/>\npAmbAl AppuNdu pAduRRAlum \u2013 even if he were to suffer due to being tied down by the snake (kALiyan)<br \/>\nsOmbAdhu \u2013 not backing down (due to these troubles)<br \/>\nippal uruvum \u2013 these chEthanas (sentient entities) who have variegated forms such as dhEva (celestial), manushya (human) et al<br \/>\npadarviththa \u2013 creating them and spreading them out to many places<br \/>\nviththA \u2013 Oh, the causative factor for the world!<br \/>\nun thol uruvai \u2013 your form which is very old<br \/>\nyAr aRivAr \u2013 who can know?<br \/>\nsollu \u2013 please say it yourself, \u2026.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>thAmbAl AppuNdAlum<\/strong> \u2013 even if yaSOdhAppirAtti ties him with a rope saying \u201cIsn\u2019t he my son! To punish him when he does any mischief is only beneficial\u201d. The scar created by her when she tied him with a rope is much sought after, similar to the mark which forms when the nAyaka (leader) unites with his beloved nAyaki (leading lady). Hence <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> is taking this as an example along with the next (kALia bandhana or tying down by kALiya) :<\/p>\n<p><strong>aththazhumbudhAn iLaga pAmbAl AppuNdu pAduRRAlum<\/strong> \u2013 when he had to suffer so much at the hands of kALiya (a poisonous snake) when being tied down, that it will make the former scar appear insignificant.<\/p>\n<p><strong>sOmbAdhu ippal uruvai ellAm padarviththa viththA<\/strong> \u2013 not stepping back thinking\u00a0 \u201cthe samsAris have insulted me\u201d, creating jIvAthmAs, who are worse than kALiya in their hatred towards <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, with the thought \u201cis carrying out an apt deed, \u00a0in any way bad for my dignity?\u201d, emperumAn is the causative factor for all the worlds, creating jIvAthmAs from out of his divine form.<\/p>\n<p><strong>un thol uruvai yAr aRivAr sollu<\/strong> \u2013 could a few people know about your divine form which has been there for a very long time? Please say this yourself.
