If I stay away from praising him, it has a special distinction\u2019. While looking at what you said superficially may appear correct, if one were to analyse deeply at what you said, it will be clear that one should follow the exact opposite of what you had said. If you stay away from praising me, others will think \u2018only those who are greater than AzhwAr can attain matters related to <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019 and will not come anywhere near me. If you praise me, others will think \u2018everyone can hold on to the matter that AzhwAr has held on to\u2019 and come to me. Hence, I will attain greatness only if you praise me\u201d. Hearing this, AzhwAr becomes very pleased and starts praising emperumAn.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>ennil migu pugazhAr yAvarE pinnaiyum maRRu<\/em><br \/>\n<em>eNNil migu pugazhEn yAn allAl enna<\/em><br \/>\n<em>karunjOdhik kaNNan kadal puraiyum seela<\/em><br \/>\n<em>perunjOthikku ennenju AtpeRRu<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>enna \u2013 being mine<br \/>\nkarum sOdhi kaNNan \u2013 krishNa with black complexion<br \/>\nkadal puraiyum seelam \u2013 having the inherent quality of ocean<br \/>\nperum sOdhikku \u2013 to you who are having great radiance<br \/>\nen nenju \u2013 my mind<br \/>\nAL peRRu \u2013 became a servitor<br \/>\nmaRRu eNNil \u2013 if one were to analyse<br \/>\nmigu pugazhEn yAn allAl \u2013 only I have great fame and none else<br \/>\npinnaiyum \u2013 more than that<br \/>\nennil &#8211; more than I<br \/>\nmigu pugazhAr \u2013 having more fame<br \/>\nyAvarE \u2013 who else is there?<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>ennil migu pugazhAr yAvarE<\/strong> \u2013 this could be construed to mean (1) who else is there who has more fame than I do? (2) Just as <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/bhuthaththazhwar\/\">bhUthaththAzhwAr<\/a> mercifully said in the <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2018\/02\/irandam-thiruvandhadhi-100\/\">100<sup>th<\/sup> pAsuram of iraNdAm thiruvandhAdhi<\/a> \u201c<em>enRanaLavanRAl yAnudaiya anbu<\/em>\u201d (my affection [for <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>] became much larger than I), my fame has grown bulky, much larger than my basic form which is atomic. Who else\u00a0 has this much of fame?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> further affirms the meaning brought out by both these meanings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>pinnaiyum maRReNNil migu pugazhEn yAn allAl<\/strong> \u2013 if one were to analyse, there is none who has fame which is not limited by the basic form. How is it that this AzhwAr, who praises himself to this extent in this pAsuram, said in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2017\/03\/thiruvaimozhi-4-7-1-seelamillach-chiriyan\/\">thiruvAimozhi 4-7-1<\/a> \u201c<em>seelamillAch chiRiyanElum seyvinaiyO peridhAl<\/em>\u201d (even though I am lowly person without any knowledge, my sins are huge)? When he does not attain <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says that there is none who has sinned more than he. In the same way, when he attains emperumAn and he says that there is none who is his equal, there is no shortcoming in that.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> now says the reason for this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>enna karunjOdhikkaNNan kadal puraiyum seelan perunjOdhikku ennenju AtpeRRu<\/strong> \u2013 praising kaNNan (krishNa) who has black complexion, who gave his divine form to me for me to enjoy completely as my right and thus showed his simplicity, who has the inherent quality of ocean and who is supremely radiant, being the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">sarvESvaran<\/a>, added to his greatness. This verse should be read along with the previous part \u201c<em>ennil migu pugazhAr yAvarE <\/em>\u201d. By referring to <em>ennudaiya karunjOdhik kaNNan, <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s quality of simplicity by which he gives his divine form for <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> to enjoy has been brought out. <em>seelan<\/em> refers to the quality of great person mingling with lowly person without any inhibition. Such a person is referred to in vEdhas (sacred texts) as <em>paranjOdhi<\/em> (supremely radiant), the sarvESvaran and AzhwAr refers to him here as perunjOdhi (great radiance). Alternatively, it can be construed that he is referring to emperumAn as <em>perumjOdhi<\/em> because of the deep affection that emperumAn has for AzhwAr as mentioned by AzhwAr himself in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/08\/thiruvaimozhi-3-3-4-isan-vanavarkku\/\">thiruvAimozhi 3-3-4<\/a> \u201c<em>Isan vAnavarkkenban enRal adhu thEsamO thiruvEngadaththAnukku nIsanEn niRaivonRumilEn enkaN pAsam vaiththa paranjudar sOdhikke<\/em>\u201d (Is it a great quality for thiruvEngadaththAn\u00a0 (emperumAn) to be the controller of nithyasUris?
