giving up attachment towards other worldly pleasures<br \/>\npullu (pulgu) &#8211; approach him with devotion<\/p>\n<p><strong>Simple transalation (based on <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/22\/vadhi-kesari-azhagiya-manavala-jiyar-english\/\">vAdhi kEsari azhagiya maNavALa jIyar<\/a>&#8216;s 12000 padi)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a>\u00a0is distinct from <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">chith<\/a> (sentients) which are unchanging by nature and <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/09\/thathva-thrayam-achith-what-is-matter\/\">achith<\/a> (insentients) which constantly change into different forms. So, after giving up attachment towards other aspects, approach with devotion, such <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> who is filled with bliss.<\/p>\n<p>As &#8220;pullu&#8221; indicates abundance of friendliness, it highlights the loving nature of this devotion.<\/p>\n<h3>vyAkyAnams (commentaries)<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Highlights from <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/14\/thirukkurugaippiran-pillan-english\/\">thirukkurukaippirAn piLLAn<\/a>&#8216;s vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If someone says &#8220;We can pursue <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> only if he is distinct from and more glorious than the worldly pleasures which are to be given up&#8221;, AzhwAr explains to them that <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> is devoid of any defects, filled with all auspicious qualities, being distinct from <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">chith<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/09\/thathva-thrayam-achith-what-is-matter\/\">achith<\/a> and because of all of these, he is most enjoyable. It is due to the fact that <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/09\/thathva-thrayam-achith-what-is-matter\/\">achith<\/a> is perishable (has total transformation of itself) that it is said as &#8220;<em>illadhu<\/em>&#8220;.<\/li>\n<li><em>uLLadhum<\/em> &#8211; existing &#8211; due to the distinction from &#8220;<em>illadhu<\/em>&#8220;, i.e., <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">chith<\/a> does not change itself ever, it is called &#8220;<em>uLLadhu<\/em>&#8220;.<\/li>\n<li><em>illadhum uLLadhum<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">chith<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/09\/thathva-thrayam-achith-what-is-matter\/\">achith<\/a> are explained as sath and asath in srIvishNu purANam &#8220;<em>yadhasthi yannAsthi<\/em>&#8221; (existing and non-existing)\u00a0 and thaiththirIya upanishadh &#8220;<em>sathyanchcha anruthancha<\/em>&#8221; (truth and false). It can also be explained as <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/09\/thathva-thrayam-achith-what-is-matter\/\">achith<\/a> which is the abode of <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA<\/a> which resides in <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/09\/thathva-thrayam-achith-what-is-matter\/\">achith<\/a> &#8211; in this context &#8220;<em>il<\/em>&#8221; in thamizh is explained as house and &#8220;<em>uL<\/em>&#8221; is explained as &#8220;that which is inside&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li><em>alladhu avanuru<\/em> &#8211; his nature is different from <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/09\/thathva-thrayam-achith-what-is-matter\/\">achith<\/a> which is perishable and <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA<\/a> which becomes bound in <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/09\/thathva-thrayam-achith-what-is-matter\/\">achith<\/a> (body) and considers &#8220;I am enjoying, I am suffering, etc&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>ellaiyil annalam &#8211; Many pramANams are highlighted to explain <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a>&#8216;s blissful nature. He is explained as such in thaiththirIya upanishath &#8220;<em>Anandhamaya:<\/em>&#8221; (filled with bliss), thiruvAimozhi 1.1.2 &#8220;<em>uNar muzhu nalam<\/em>&#8221; (filled with gyAnam and Anandham), srIvishNu purANam 6.5.84 &#8220;<em>samasthakalyANaguNAthmakOsau<\/em>&#8221; (naturally having all auspicious qualities) etc.<\/li>\n<li>pulgu &#8211; For one who fully knows the auspicious qualities, <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> who is filled with such auspicious qualities is most enjoyable, similar to embracing a beautiful woman for some one who is desiring worldly pleasure.<\/li>\n<li>paRRu aRRE &#8211; One should give up other attachments and then pursue emperumAn. One cannot be &#8220;<em>iru karaiyan<\/em>&#8221; &#8211; i.e., one who holds on to both vishayAntharam (worldly pleasures) and bhagavath vishayam (devotion towards bhagavAn).
