He says that of the two, attaining emperumAn\u2019s followers is superior.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>pazhudhAgAdhonRaRindhEn pARkadalAn pAdham<\/em><br \/>\n<em>vazhuvA vagai ninaindhu vaigal thozhuvArai<\/em><br \/>\n<em>kaNdiRainji vAzhvAr kalandha vinai keduththu<\/em><br \/>\n<em>viNdiRandhu vIRRiruppAr mikku<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word for Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>pazhudhu AgAdhu onRu \u2013 faultless (superior) means<br \/>\naRindhEn \u2013 I knew<\/p>\n<p>(Hear me, as to what it is)<br \/>\npAl kadalAn pAdham \u2013 the divine feet of <em>kshIrAbdhinAtha<\/em> (lord of milky ocean)<br \/>\nvazhuvA vagai ninaindhu \u2013 meditating without any error<br \/>\nthozhuvArai \u2013 those who constantly worship<br \/>\nkaNdu \u2013 (reaching and) having <em>dharSan<\/em> of (seeing)<br \/>\niRainji \u2013 worshipping<br \/>\nvAzhvAr \u2013 those who live (devotees of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s followers)<br \/>\nkalandha vinai keduththu \u2013 getting rid of the bad deeds connected with <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA (soul)<\/a><br \/>\nviN thiRandhu \u2013 opening the entrance to paramapadham (SrIvaikuNtam)<br \/>\nmikku \u2013 with greatness<br \/>\nvIRRiruppAr \u2013 will be residing<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>pazhudhAgAdhonRu aRindhEn<\/strong> \u2013 I knew of the superior means which will not go useless. The means which will not go useless are: 1. Attaining <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>; 2. Attaining followers of emperumAn; 3. Taking shelter under the wisdom of followers of emperumAn. All these three means are very distinguished. Of these three, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumazhisai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> is mercifully describing the second means (of attaining the followers of emperumAn) in this pAsuram and the first (attaining emperumAn) and third means (totally devoted to the wisdom of emperumAn\u2019s followers ) in the next pAsuram.<\/p>\n<p>What is the means which is faultless?<\/p>\n<p><strong>pARkadalAn pAdham<\/strong> \u2013 the divine feet of the entity who, leaving aside paramapadham which is the place for enjoyment, takes residence in the milky ocean in order to get his followers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vazhuvA vagai ninaindhu<\/strong> \u2013 meditating without slipping on it. In other words, keeping them as both the means and the benefit for attainment. Isn\u2019t asking for lowly materials from <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, after attaining him, a faulty way of asking, much similar to asking for loin cloth from <em>kaRpaga vruksham<\/em> (wish fulfilling tree)? Isn\u2019t begging for other benefits a wrong methodology? Instead, thinking of those divine feet as means and goal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vaigal thozhuvArai<\/strong> \u2013 will not the sweetness of the matter (the divine feet of emperumAn) be such that if they are worshipped once, they will make the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">jIvAthmA<\/a> to worshsip every day?<\/p>\n<p><strong>thozhuvAraikkaNdu<\/strong> \u2013 seeking the followers of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, on their own. With this, the difference between these people and the distinguished entities who will be mentioned in the next pAsuram is indicated. Just as the saying goes \u201c<em>prajApathim thvO vEdha<\/em>\u201d these people will go on their own and attain the followers of emperumAn. The ones who will be mentioned in the next pAsuram are those who will be worthy of being under the wisdom of emperumAn\u2019s followers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kaNdu iRainji vAzhvAr<\/strong> \u2013 those who prosper by heartily seeing the followers of emperumAn and worshsipping them. appiLLai, one of the vyAkyAthas for this prabandham will say that <em>iRainji<\/em> would mean those who bow down their heads fully.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kalandha vinai keduththu viN thiRandhu vIRRipruppAr mikku<\/strong> \u2013 getting rid of the sins which are inseparably intertwined with AthmA, these people will be servitors to nithyasUris who are the heads of those who carry out kainkaryam to <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, and who have unlimited knowledge and devotion (towards emperumAn), in paramapadham.<\/p>\n<p><strong>mikku vIRRiruppar<\/strong> \u2013 they will reside such that their knowledge and devotion will be explicitly manifested.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vIRRruppar<\/strong> \u2013 they will reside with their excellence fully displayed.
