When asked as to what is the benefit for those who are deeply engaged with that, he says in this pAsuram the prAypya vaibhavam (distinctions of the goal \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>). He says that even brahmA, rudhra et al do not know the greatness of emperumAn and the greatness of his position.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, it can be said that AzhwAr is saying that it is not that only the samsAris do not know the distinguishing features of charama SlOkam. Even knowledgeable entities such as brahmA, rudhra et al do not know the greatness of charama SlOkam. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/periyavachchan-pillai\/\">periyavAchchAn piLLai<\/a>, one of the commentators for this prabandham would say that <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/parasara-bhattar\/\">bhattar<\/a> (parASara bhattar, son of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/kuraththazhwan\/\">SrI kUraththAzhwAn<\/a>) would give the meanings of both previous pAsuram, which are very difficult to know, and this pAsuram \u00a0with the quotation\u201d<em>bhattar aruLichcheyya nAn kEttEn<\/em>\u201d enRu <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nampillai\/\">(nam)piLLai<\/a> aruLichcheyvar\u201d \u00a0((nam)piLLai would mercifully say that bhattar would mercifully state the meanings of these pAsurams).<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>ArE aRivAr anaiththulagum undhumizhndha<\/em><br \/>\n<em>pErAzhiyAn than perumaiyai kAr seRindha<\/em><br \/>\n<em>kaNdaththAn eNkaNNAn kANAn avan vaiththa<\/em><br \/>\n<em>paNdaiththAnaththin padhi<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word for Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>anaiththu ulagum \u2013 all the worlds<br \/>\nuNdu umizhndha \u2013 swallowing (during deluge) and spitting out (later)<br \/>\npEr AzhiyAn than \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> who resembles a huge ocean<br \/>\nperumaiyai \u2013 greatness<br \/>\naRivAr ArE \u2013 who will now (estimating it)? (There is none)<br \/>\navan vaiththa \u2013 what that emperumAn had (earlier) kept<br \/>\npaNdaiththAnaththin padhi \u2013 charama SlOkam which is the age-old means<br \/>\nkAr seRindha kaNdaththAn \u2013 Siva with bluish coloured throat<br \/>\neNkaNNAn \u2013 nAnmugan (brahmA) [with eight eyes]<br \/>\nkANAn \u2013 do not know<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>ArE aRivAr anaiththulagum uNdumizhndha pErAzhiyAn than perumaiyai<\/strong> \u2013 who will know the greatness of the one [<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>], who is like a great ocean which is referred to as in SrI rAmAyaNam yudhdha kANdam 19-31 \u201c<em>apramEyO mahOdhadhi:<\/em>\u201d (the ocean whose greatness cannot be measured), who keeps all the worlds in his stomach during deluge so that they are not injured, and who lets them out later?<\/p>\n<p><strong>pEr AzhiyAn<\/strong> \u2013 one who is like a great ocean. Azhi \u2013 ocean. This is as per <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/periyavachchan-pillai\/\">periyavAchchAn piLLai<\/a>\u2019s interpretation. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/appillai\/\">appiLLai<\/a>\u2019s interpretation is different \u2013 \u201ckrishNa who is donning the great divine disc (<em>sudharSan chakra<\/em>, also known as <em>Azhi<\/em> in thamizh) in his divine hand\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Would brahmA, rudhra et al know?\u00a0 . . .<\/p>\n<p><strong>kAr seRindha . . . . <\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Let their knowing his greatness remain on one side. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumazhisai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> is wondering whether they know where paramapadham (SrIvaikuNtam) is.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kAr seRindha kaNdaththAn<\/strong> \u2013 <em>neelakaNta<\/em> (Siva) who has the vanity of having protected the dhEvas by swallowing the <em>AlahAla<\/em> poison and having he power which is the base for that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>eN kaNNan<\/strong> \u2013 brahmA who has eight eyes in order carry out his activities in all eight directions simultaneously and who has lot of knowledge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kANAn<\/strong> \u2013 do not see.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kAr seRindha kaNdaththAn kANAn<\/strong> \u2013 even if one possesses lot of power, is it possible to know the dwelling place of one who is omnipotent?<\/p>\n<p><strong>en kaNNan kANAn<\/strong> \u2013 even if one has lot of knowledge and is the head of the universe, is it possible to know paramapadham which is beyond the universe?<\/p>\n<p><strong>avan vaiththa paNdaith thAnaththin padhi<\/strong> \u2013 they do not know the dwelling place which <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> created with his eternal desire, long time back. SrI vishNu purANam 1-9-59 says \u201c<em>yan na dhEvA na munayO na chAham na Sankara:<\/em> I <em>jAnanthi paramESasya thath vishNO: paramam padham<\/em> II\u201d (that is vishNu\u2019s supreme dwelling place which is not known to dhEvas, munis (sages), me (brahmA) and rudhra); SrI vishNu purANam 1-9-55 says \u201c<em>yannAyam bhagavAn brahmA jAnAthi paramam padham<\/em>I <em>thannathA: sma jagadhdhAma thava sarvagadhAchyutha<\/em> II\u201d (Oh all pervading achyutha! We bow down to that supreme dwelling place of yours which even bhagavAn brahmA does not know and which is the sustaining entity for the universe); mahAbhAratham AraNya parvam 136-18 says \u201c<em>athyarkkAlanadhIptham thath sthAnam vishNOr mahAthmana: <\/em>\u00a0I <em>svayaiva prabhayA rAjan dhushprEksham dhEvadhAnavai: <\/em>\u00a0II\u201d (the resplendence of the dwelling place of that supreme AthmA vishNu is much greater than the radiance of sUrya and agni. Oh King! Due to such resplendence, it cannot be seen by dhEvas or demonic entities); mahAbhAratham SlOkam \u201c<em>dhivyam sthAnamajaram chApramEyam dhurvigyEyam chAgamair gamyamAdhyam<\/em> I <em>gachcha prabhO: raksha chAsmAn prapannAn kalpE kalpE jAyamAna: svamUrthyA<\/em> II\u201d (Oh my lord! Please reach that dwelling place which is <em>aprAkrutha<\/em> (not made of primordial matter), indelible, inestimable, unknowable, that which can be known only by vEdhas and which is ancient. During each kalpam (a period of time), please incarnate with your divine form and protect us, your servitors). Through all these authentic sources, it has been established firmly that paramapadham is not known to brahmA, rudhra et al.<\/p>\n<p><strong>paNdaiththAnaththin padhi<\/strong> \u2013 it is the dwelling place [of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>] which is ancient.<\/p>\n<p>The interpretation seen so far is based on <em>prApya vaibhavam<\/em> (glory of emperumAn as the goal). <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/appillai\/\">appiLLai<\/a> has given a second interpretation for this pAsuram, based on <em>charamaSlOka vaibhavam<\/em> (glory of charama SlOkam). We will see it now.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ArE aRivAr anaiththulagaum uNdumizhndha pErAzhiyAn than perumaiyai<\/strong> \u2013 who will know the <em>nirapEksha upAya<\/em> (being means without any expectation) nature of emperumAn who protects all the worlds during deluge so that they are not destroyed, who lets them out during the next cycle of creation, and who is as profound as the ocean?<\/p>\n<p><strong>anaiththulagum uNdumizhndha pErAzhiyAN than perumaiyai<\/strong> \u2013 Was <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s act of protecting the worlds during deluge carried out with any expectation? Or, was his act of providing body and senses to sentient entities at the time of creation, done with any expectation? \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> mercifully mentions in his <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/10\/thiruvaimozhi-1-10-5-kandaye-nenje\/\">thiruvAimozhi 1-10-5<\/a> \u201c<em>kaNdAyE nenjE karumangaL vAykkinROr eNdhAnum inRIyE vandhiyalumARu uNdAnai ulagEzhum Or mUvadi koNdAnai kaNdukoNdanai nIyumE<\/em>\u201d (Oh heart! Have you seen that without any thoughts from us, things are happening as they should? Did you not get to see the emperumAn who protected all the worlds during deluge and who measured all the worlds with three steps?)<\/p>\n<p><strong>pErAzhiyAn than perumaiyai<\/strong> \u2013 is it due to any expectation that <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is always with the divine disc in his divine hand, in order to protect those who are in danger? <em>pErAzhiyAn<\/em> \u2013 one who is donning divine disc which is great in protecting.<\/p>\n<p>Wouldn\u2019t brahmA, rudhra et al know?<\/p>\n<p><strong>kAr seRindha kaNdaththAn eN kaNNan avan kANAn avan vaitha paNdaiththAnanththin padhi<\/strong> \u2013 brahmA and rudhra, who have abundance of knowledge and power will not know charama SlOkam which is <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s ancient repository for <em>nirapEksha<\/em> <em>upAyam<\/em> (means which does not expect anything). emperumAn has kept this as a secret just as people gather wealth and keep it a secret. The meaning conveyed here is that they (brahmA, rudhra et al) do not know the greatness of the means of emperumAn which does not expect anything.<\/p>\n<p><strong>paNdaiththAnanththin padhi<\/strong> \u2013 <em>padhi<\/em> \u2013 repository.
