How did you find it?\u201d AzhwAr responds saying \u201cI am the one who did not know this till today. Knowledgeable persons knew this all along\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>thAn oruvanAgith tharaNi idandheduththu<\/em><br \/>\n<em>EnoruvanAy eyiRRil thAngiyadhum yAn oruvan<\/em><br \/>\n<em>inRAvaRiginREn allEn iru nilaththaich<\/em><br \/>\n<em>chenRAngu adippaduththa sEy<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word for Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>thAn oruvan Agi \u2013 being uniquely beautiful<br \/>\nsenRu \u2013 going (to mahAbali as a mendicant)<br \/>\nAngu \u2013 in that yAgasAlai (place where ritual is conducted)<br \/>\niru nilaththai \u2013 expansive earth<br \/>\nadippaduththa \u2013 one who measured<br \/>\nsEy \u2013 the child<br \/>\nEn oruvan Ay \u2013 as the distinguished form of varAha (wild boar)<\/p>\n<p>(Immersing in the deluge)<br \/>\ndharaNi \u2013 earth<br \/>\nidandhu eduththu \u2013 digging out (from the walls of universe)<br \/>\neyiRRil \u2013 on his tusks<br \/>\nthAngiyadhu \u2013 way sustained<br \/>\nyAn oruvan \u2013 only I<br \/>\ninRA \u2013 until now<br \/>\naRiginREn allEn \u2013 am not knowing<br \/>\n(many people knew this for a long time)<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>thAn oruvanAgi<\/strong> \u2013 being the lord of all, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> reaches a unique state. For a great person, unique state is to be at the outermost limit of qualities such as <em>sauSeelyam <\/em>(simple), <em>saulabhyam<\/em> (easy to approach) and <em>vAthsalyam<\/em> (having motherly love). That is the state of vAmana (incarnation of vAmana). <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> too said in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/10\/thiruvaimozhi-1-10-1-poruma-nilpadai\/\">thiruvAimozhi 1-10-1<\/a> \u201c<em>oru mANikkuRaLAgi<\/em>\u201d (being a unique dwarf)<\/p>\n<p><strong>oruvanAgi<\/strong> \u2013 it appears that <em>oruvan<\/em> and <em>vAmana<\/em> are synonyms. A great entity stood in a lowly manner. One who grants everyone\u2019s wish, stood like a mendicant, asking for alms. Without expecting anything, he stroked everyone with his divine foot. Isn\u2019t this the limit for <em>sauSeelyam, saulabhyam, vAthsalyam <\/em>etc! Isn\u2019t this entity termed as <em>oruvan<\/em>! Due to the interest in this meaning and due to the fact that <em>En oruvanAgi<\/em> has been separately dealt with, this term <em>thAnoruvanAgi<\/em> can be better combined with the last line <em>irunilaththaich chenRAngu adippaduththa sEy<\/em> to get a complete meaning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Angu senRu<\/strong> \u2013 while <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> could have completed the task through his <em>sankalpam<\/em> (divine vow), he went to the place where mahAbali was, by transforming himself, because mahAbali had the quality of magnanimity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>iru nilaththai adippaduththa sEy<\/strong> \u2013 measuring the expansive earth in such a way that it came under his foot. Just as it is said \u201c<em>Eka: prAseesarathpAdhamEka: prAchikshaLanmudhA<\/em> I <em>aparOpyadharan mUrdhnA kO\u2019dhikas thEshu gaNyathAm<\/em> II\u201d (one stretched his leg; one washed it joyfully; one bore that water on his head. Ponder on who among these three is the greatest), he is the child of whom it could be said that he is without any equal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>dharaNi idandheduththu<\/strong> \u2013 digging out the earth with his tusk when earth was sticking to the walls of the universe at the time of deluge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>En oruvanAy eyiRRil thAngiyadhum<\/strong> \u2013 with a unique form of boar; despite being a great entity, since he incarnated as a boar without any pride, his qualities of <em>sauSeelyam, saulabhyam, vAthsalyam<\/em> were manifested splendrously. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumazhisai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> calls him as <em>En oruvanAy<\/em> (unique boar). It could also be construed that AzhwAr is calling him as <em>En oruvanAy<\/em> since he is a huge boar both in terms of form and beauty.<\/p>\n<p><strong>eyiRRil thAngiyadhum<\/strong> \u2013 he bore earth in one corner of his tusk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>yAn oruvan inRA aRigillEn allEn<\/strong> \u2013 I who am without equal in my ignorance, did not know this till now. <em>inRA<\/em> \u2013 until today. But did this matter come to light only after I knew it now?
