In this pAsuram he says that he has no ills since he has taken the divine names of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> in his heart and sheds all his worries.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>kURRamum sArA kodu vinaiyum sAra thI<\/em><br \/>\n<em> mARRamum sArA vagai aRindhEn ARRang<\/em><br \/>\n<em> karaikkidakkum kaNNan kadal kidakkum mAyan<\/em><br \/>\n<em> uraikkidakkum uLLaththenakku<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word for Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>kadal \u2013 in thiruppARkadal (milky ocean)<br \/>\nkidakkum \u2013 reclining<br \/>\nmAyan \u2013 amazing entity<br \/>\nARu karai \u2013 at kapisthalam on the banks of river kAvEri<br \/>\nkidakkum \u2013 reclining<br \/>\nkaNNan \u2013 krishNa\u2019s<br \/>\nurai \u2013 the divine charama SlOka (ultimate hymn)<br \/>\nenakku \u2013 for me<br \/>\nuLLaththu \u2013 heart<br \/>\nkidakkum \u2013 is registered<\/p>\n<p>Hence<br \/>\nkURRamum sArA \u2013 fear of yama (deity of righteousness) not approaching<br \/>\nkodu vinaiyum sArA \u2013 cruel sins not approaching<br \/>\nthI mArRamum sArA\u00a0 \u2013 bad reputation not approaching<br \/>\nvagai \u2013 means<br \/>\naRindhEn \u2013 I knew<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>kURRamum sArA vagai aRindhEn<\/strong> \u2013 I knew the means by which yama will not come near me. It is apt to recall here some pAsurams from dhivya prabandham such as nAnmugan thiruvandhAdhi 68 \u201c<em>thiRambEnmin kaNdIr<\/em>\u201d (yama tells his messengers \u201cWhat I now instruct you, do not go against\u201d), thiruvAimozhi 10-2-1 \u201c<em>kedum idarAyavellAm kEsavA enna nALum koduvinai seyyum kURRin thamargaLum kuRugakillAr<\/em>\u201d (by reciting the divine name kESava, all the hurdles will disappear; the messengers of yama who indulge in cruel punishments every moment, will not come anywhere near and will run away), <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/07\/thirumalai-1-part-1\/\">thirumalai 1<\/a> \u201c<em>nAvalittu uzhitharuginROm namanthamar thalaigaLmIdhE <\/em>\u201d (we are walking on top of the heads of yama\u2019s messengers, raising svictorious slogans), periya thirumozhi 8-10-7 \u201c<em>vaLLalE! un thamarkkenRum namanthamar kaLLarpOl<\/em>\u201d (Oh the magnanimous one! the messengers of\u00a0 yama will hide from your followers just as thieves would hide themselves ) and SrIvishNu purANam SlOkam 3-7-14 \u201c<em>svapurushamabivIkshya<\/em>\u201d (having observed the supreme being).<\/p>\n<p><strong>koduvinaiyum sArA vagai aRindhEn<\/strong> \u2013 I also knew the means by which terrible sins, which cause yama to come near me, will not approach me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thI mARRamum sArA vagai aRindhEn<\/strong> \u2013 I also knew the means by which ill reputation such as \u201che is a <em>dhEhAbhimAni<\/em> (one who mistakes physical body for soul); he is a <em>svathanthrAbhimAni<\/em> (he thinks that he is independent); he is a <em>dhEvathaNthara paran <\/em>(he worships other deities); he is <em>vishayAntharaparan<\/em> (he is after worldly pursuits); he is <em>upAyAntharaparan<\/em> (he goes after other means to attain <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>))\u201d will not approach me. <em>thImARRam<\/em> \u2013 calamity; evil<\/p>\n<p>What is the basis for knowing such means?<\/p>\n<p><strong>kadal kidakkum mAyan ARRangaraik kidakkum kaNNan uraikkidakkum uLLaththu enakku<\/strong> \u2013 kaNNam (krishNa) lies in kapisthalam on the shores of the river kAvEri in order to be accessible to all those who cannot approach him at thiruppARkadal (milky ocean) where he normally reclines as an amazing entity who is approached by brahmA et al; such krishNa, during the mahAbhAratha war had said, as mentioned in <a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/18-66\/\">SrI bhagavath gIthA 18-66<\/a> \u201c<em>sarva dharmAn parithyajya mAmEkam SaraNam vraja<\/em> I <em>aham thvA sarva pApEbhyO mOkshayishyAmi mA Sucha:<\/em> II\u201d (leaving aside all the means for attaining mOksham, along with their traces, hold on to me alone, as the means; I will liberate you from all sins; don\u2019t feel sad). These words will always be in my heart. Thus I knew the means by which yama, cruel sins and ill reputation will not approach me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kadal kidakkum mAyan<\/strong> \u2013 he is an amazing entity who reclines in the milky ocean where he can be approached only by a few people such as those living in SvEthadhvIpam (another planet like ours).<\/p>\n<p><strong>ARRangaraikkidakkum kaNNan<\/strong> \u2013 just as in a town, when a person goes in search of another and doesn\u2019t find him easily, he goes to the riverfront and waits for him there (since everyone comes to the river for their needs), <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> also reclines near the river bed, waiting for those who have desire in him to come there to worship him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kaNNan<\/strong> \u2013 krishNa, who becomes the matter for everyone\u2019s eyes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kaNNan urai<\/strong> \u2013 the charama SlOkam recited by krishNa. Alternatively, we can construe this as <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s divine names which refer to his <em>svarUpa<\/em> (basic nature), <em>rUpa<\/em> (divine form), <em>vibhUthi<\/em> (wealth) and <em>chEshtitha<\/em> (divine activities).<\/p>\n<p><strong>uraikkidakkum<\/strong> \u2013 the heart where his divine names rest. In other words, to me who has the knowledge about him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kaNNan uraikkidakkum uLLaththenakku kURRamum sArA<\/strong> \u2013 for me, who has his instructions \u201c<em>sarva dharmAn parithyajya<\/em>\u201d (letting go of all means) in my heart, there is no fear about yama which haunts those who are engaged only in their <em>varNASrama dharmam<\/em> (doing whatever is ordained in the vEdhas for one\u2019s classification and status).<\/p>\n<p><strong>kaNNan uraikkidakkum &#8230;.. koduvinaiyum sArA<\/strong> \u2013 there is no scope for me who is fully engaged in krishNa\u2019s instructions, to have any connection with <em>pApa \/ puNya<\/em> (vice \/ virtue) which would befall those who observe certain deeds desirous of end results, which those deeds would give them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ARRangaraikkidakkum<\/strong> \u2013 this implies certain qualities such as simplicity which are referred to in <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s utterance of the word <em>mAm<\/em> (in the charama SlOkam), which are known as <em>ASrayaNa saukaryApAthaka guNas<\/em> (those which facilitate his followers to attain him).<\/p>\n<p><strong>kadal kidakkum mAyan<\/strong> \u2013 this implies certain qualities such as gyAna sakthi which are referred to in his utterance of the word <em>aham<\/em> (in the charama SlOkam) which are known as <em>ASrithakAryApAthaka guNas<\/em> (qualities which facilitate his carrying out the activities of his followers).<\/p>\n<p>We will move on to the 51<sup>st<\/sup> pAsuram next.<\/p>\n<p>adiyEn krishNa rAmAnuja dhAsan<\/p>\n<p>archived in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\">https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>pramEyam (goal) \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/koyil.org\/\">https:\/\/koyil.org<\/a><br \/>\npramANam (scriptures) \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\">http:\/\/granthams.koyil.org<\/a><br \/>\npramAthA (preceptors) \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\">http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org<\/a><br \/>\nSrIvaishNava education\/kids portal \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/\">http:\/\/pillai.koyil.org<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SrI:\u00a0 SrImathE SatakOpAya nama:\u00a0 SrImathE rAmAnujAya nama:\u00a0 SrImath varavaramunayE nama: Full Series &lt;&lt; Previous avathArikai In the previous pAsuram, AzhwAr instructed others to recite the divine names of sarvESvaran (lord of all) to reap the benefit of having been given a tongue.
