But in vEdhas prevalent in samsAram, it is very well known that brahmA is the creator, rudhra is the destroyer and various other deities are carrying out very important tasks. Will they not be causative entities?\u201d to which he says in this pAsuram \u201cif emperumAn is not their <em>antharyAmi<\/em> (indwelling soul) all their greatness will disappear without a trace\u201d. Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>agaippil manisarai ARu samayam<\/em><br \/>\n<em> pugaiththAn porukadal neervaNNan ugaikkumEl<\/em><br \/>\n<em> eththEvar vAlAttum evvARu seygaiyum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> appOdhu ozhiyum azhaippu<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word for Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>porukadalneer vaNNan \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">sarvESvaran<\/a> who has the complexion of ocean water with waves lapping<br \/>\nagaippu il manisarai \u2013 people who do not have distinction of being knowledgeable<br \/>\nARu samayam \u2013 in the (lowly) six philosophies<br \/>\npugaiththAn \u2013 made them get caught<br \/>\nugaikkum El \u2013 if he remains indifferent (towards them)<br \/>\nappOdhu \u2013 at that time itself<br \/>\neththEvar vAlAttum \u2013 the ego of whichever deity<br \/>\nevvARu seygaiyum \u2013 the various deeds carried out towards them as worship (such \u00a0as rituals etc)<br \/>\nazhaippu \u2013 the invocations of these deities (in such rituals)<br \/>\nozhiyum \u2013 will disappear<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>agaippil manisarai<\/strong> \u2013 jIvAthmAs (sentient entities) like you, with low level of knowledge, who do not understand how much ever is instructed. <em>agaippu<strong> \u2013 <\/strong><\/em>rising; greatness in knowledge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>agaippil manisarai<\/strong> \u2013 jIvAthmAs who have no distinction about their knowledge \u2013 those who do not have any high level of intelligence about them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ARu samayam pugaiththAn<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> ensured that they were trapped in the six different philosophies. <em>ARu samayam<\/em> \u2013 <em>bhaudhdha, naiyAyika, vaiSEshika, jaina, sAnkya, yOga<\/em> philosophies established by<em> sAkya, ulUkya, akshapAdha, kshapaNa, kapila<\/em> and <em>pathanjali<\/em> respectively. Instead of<em> naiyAyika<\/em> and <em>yOga<\/em> philosophies, <em>chArvAka <\/em>and <em>pAsupatha <\/em>philosophies are included by some.<\/p>\n<p><strong>pugaiththAn<\/strong> \u2013 just as hunters, in forests, while trying to get animals which have hidden themselves in dense bushes, will set fire to trash so that the frightened animals will come out of bush and be caught by the hunters, emperumAn sets up the smokescreen of other philosophies and traps jIvAthmAs in samsAram.<\/p>\n<p><strong>agaippil pugaiththAn<\/strong> \u2013 For those caught in smoke, will the path be visible? <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumazhisai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says that it is because of this reason that samsAris are still holding on to other deities despite being told repeatedly about <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>porukadal neervaNNan ugaikkumEl<\/strong> \u2013 if emperumAn, who has a complexion which will comfort the eyes of those who see him, turns out to be indifferent&#8230; it is well nigh impossible for someone who, like the ocean, keeps giving away whatever is asked for by the needy. However, if water were to turn into fire; if emperumAn becomes indifferent&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>eththEvar vAlAttum ozhiyum<\/strong> \u2013 the vanity of all those dhEvas (celestial entities) who roam around with the pride of a group of monkeys will disappear. Dogs wag their tail (vAlAttum) when they feel proud about themselves; thus, the term wagging the tail implies pride. Don\u2019t these dhEvathas also feel proud saying <em>ISvarOham<\/em> (I am ISvaran, the controller of everyone else)?<\/p>\n<p><strong>evvARu azhaippuchcheygaiyum ozhiyum<\/strong> \u2013 the invitations extended to these deities when a ritual is performed, such as <em>indhramAvahayAmi, sOmamAvahayAmi<\/em> (I invoke the presence of indhra, I invoke the presence of sOma) etc and the offerings made to them such as <em>indhrAyasvAhA, varunAyasvAhA<\/em> etc will disappear.
