Just as it is said \u201c<em>kim mrushtam suthavachanam<\/em>\u201d (Which is the sweetest to hear? It is hearing one\u2019s child speaking) emperumAn, desirous of hearing more sweet words from AzhwAr, tells AzhwAr \u201c<em>AzhwIr! Your pAsurams are very sweet to hear. Compose one more pAsuram<\/em>\u201d. AzhwAr immediately composes another pAsuram (this) dipping the all pervading quality of emperumAn in his mellifluous words and offers to emperumAn.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>nIyE ulagellAm ninnaruLE niRpanavum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> nIyE thavaththEva dhEvanum nIyE<\/em><br \/>\n<em> erisudarum mAl varaiyum endhisaiyum aNdaththu<\/em><br \/>\n<em> irusudarum Aya ivai<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word for Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>ulagu ellAm nIyE \u2013 you are the controller of all the worlds<br \/>\nniRpanavum \u2013 the stable, purushArtham (end benefit) of <em>mOksham<\/em> (liberation \/ SrIvaikuNtam)<br \/>\nnin aruLE \u2013 due to your mercy alone<br \/>\nthavam dhEvar dhEvanum\u00a0 nIyE \u2013 you are the head of celestial entities such as brahmA et al who became celestial entities after carrying out penance.<br \/>\neri sudarum \u2013 the splendorous <em>agni <\/em>(fire)<br \/>\nmAl varaiyum \u2013 the huge mountains which sustain earth<br \/>\neN dhisaiyum \u2013 all the entities present in the eight directions<br \/>\naNdaththu \u2013 present in the universe<br \/>\niru sudarum \u2013 chandhra sUrya (moon and sun)<br \/>\nAya ivai \u2013 all these<br \/>\nnIyE \u2013 are only you<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>nIyE ulagellAm<\/strong> \u2013 many pramANams (authentic sources of information) have been given to substantiate that <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is all pervading.<\/p>\n<p>nArAyaNa anuvAkam &#8211; \u201c<em>viSvam nArAyaNam harim<\/em>\u201d (he is the indwelling soul of all the worlds)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/11-40\/\">SrI bhagavath gIthA 11-40<\/a>: \u201c<em>sarvam samApnOshi thathO\u2019Si sarva:<\/em>\u201d (since you pervade everything you are everything)<\/p>\n<p>mahAbhAratham &#8211; \u201c<em>thathsthathvAdhanupaSyanthi hyEka EvEthi sAdhava:<\/em>\u201d (since <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> has pervaded the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">jIvAthmA<\/a>, sAdhus (ascetics) see them [emperumAn and jIvAthmA] as one)<\/p>\n<p>brahma sUthram &#8211; \u201c<em>avasthithErithi kAsakruthsna<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since no creation can exist if separated from him and since such a separated state cannot be seen, there is nothing wrong in saying that <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ninnaruLE niRpanavum<\/strong> \u2013 the prurushArtham mOksham (liberation or SrIvaikuNtam), which is stable and permanent, happens due to your mercy. This can also be construed as \u2013 all creations exist in a stable way, due to your mercy. But since this meaning is conveyed by the previous verse <em>nIyE ulagellAm<\/em> periyavAchchAn piLLai, the vyAkyAthA (commentator) for this prabandham supported the meaning relating to purushArtham. Since the goal in paramapadham is unlimited, plural number <em>niRpana<\/em> has been used.<\/p>\n<p><strong>nIyE thavaththEva dhEvanum<\/strong> \u2013 you are the lord of those who became deities after carrying out penance. svEthasvathara upanishath says \u201c<em>tham dhEvanAm paramancha dhaivatham<\/em>\u201d (emperumAn is the supreme deity for all those deities). mahAbhAratham sabA parvam 14-8 says \u201c<em>yugakOti sahasrANi vishNumArAdhya padhmabhU:<\/em> I <em>punas thrailOkyadhAthruthvam prApathavAnithi SuSruma:<\/em> II \u201d (we hear that by carrying out penance towards vishNu for thousands of crores of yugas, brahmA attained the position of being the head of the three worlds once again). nArasimha purANam says \u201c<em>brahmAdhayas surAs sarvE vishNumAradhya thE purA<\/em> I <em>svam svam padhamanuprApthA: kESavasya prasAdhatha:<\/em> II \u201d (dhEvas such as brahmA et al worshipped vishNu and with his mercy attained their respective position). mahAbhAratham says \u201c<em>mahAdhEvas sarvamEdhE mahAthmA huthvA\u2019thmAnam dhEvadhEvO babhUva<\/em>\u201d (by sacrificing himself in the sarvamEdha yAgam (a ritual), the great soul mahAdhEva (rudhra) became a deity). Thus in all these cases, it is clearly established that <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is the supreme deity for all those who became deities after carrying out penance towards him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>nIyE erisudarum mAl varaiyum &#8230;<\/strong> \u2013 is it required to say these separately? You are the burning fire, the huge mountains which sustain earth, the eight directions, sUrya and chandhra (sun and moon) which are within the universe. All these are under your control.
