But many in the world do not believe this. What is the reason for this?\u201d. AzhwAr responds \u201cThis is the handiwork of people who belong to contrary philosophies who are unfit even to talk about him\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>nArAyanan ennai ALi naragaththuch<\/em><br \/>\n<em> chErAmal kAkkum thirumAL than pErAnA<\/em><br \/>\n<em> pEsappeRAdha piNachchamayar pEsakkEttu<\/em><br \/>\n<em> AsaippattAzhwAr palar<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word for Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>nArAyaNan \u2013 one who has the divine name of nArAyaNa<br \/>\nennai ALi \u2013 one who has made me as his servitor<br \/>\nnaragaththu sErAmal kAKkum \u2013 one who protects (his followers) from coming to samsAram (materialistic realm)<br \/>\nthirumAL than \u2013 thirumAl\u2019s<br \/>\npEr Ana \u2013 divine names<br \/>\npEsa peRAdha \u2013 those who are unfortunate in not reciting (such divine names)<br \/>\npiNam \u2013 walking like a corpse<br \/>\nsamayar \u2013 those who do not believe in vEdhas or who misinterpret vEdhas<br \/>\npEsa \u2013 babbling<br \/>\nkEttu \u2013 hearing such words<br \/>\npalar \u2013 many people<br \/>\nAsaippattu \u2013 desiring to be such disbelievers or misinterpreters of vEdhas<br \/>\nAzhwAr \u2013 they will also fall into that rut.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>nArayaNan ennai ALi<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumazhisai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says that he is not bothered about the others. SrIman nArayaNa has made him his servitor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>nArayaNan ennai ALi<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, who is the lord of all the worlds, has such deep affection for AzhwAr that he kept AzhwAr on one side of a weighing balance and all the others on the other side. When such is the case, why should AzhwAr bother about the others!<\/p>\n<p><strong>nArAyaNan ennai ALi<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr (bhagavath rAmAnujar)<\/a> in line with this verse, wrote in his <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/12\/saranagathi-gadhyam-5-part-5\/\">SaraNAgathi gadhyam<\/a> \u201c<em>akila jagath swAmin asmath swAmin<\/em>\u201d (emperumAn is the lord of all the worlds; he is also my lord)<\/p>\n<p>When asked as to how <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> protected him, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumazhisai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says..<\/p>\n<p><strong>naragaththuch chErAmal kAkkum<\/strong> \u2013 by ensuring that I do not get involved with samsAram (materialistic realm) which is like cruel hell, emperumAn protected me. This samsAram is more cruel than the other hells such as rUru, etc. Those hells are very well known for their cruelty and hence one would be wary of them. In the case of samsAram, superficially it would appear that it is very good and hence people would think that they need not fear it and indulge in their desires. Thus this samsAram is very cruel. Both in the previous pAsuram and in this pAsuram, it has been mentioned that nArAyaNa is both the means and the object of attainment. There is a small difference between the two pAsurams. Means would mean both granting of what is desired and removal of hurdles. The previous pAsuram stressed on granting of what is desired in the verse <em>vIdAkkum meypporuLdhAn nArAyaNan<\/em> while in this pAsuram the stress is on the removal of hurdle <em>nArAyaNan ennai ALi naragaththuch chErAmal kAkkum<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumazhisai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> was asked as to why <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is coming now to protect him from hell when he had allowed AzhwAr to be in this hell from time immemorial. AzhwAr says..<\/p>\n<p><strong>thirumAL<\/strong> \u2013 since he is the consort of <em>purushakArabhUthai<\/em> (one who is playing the recommendatory role) SrI mahAlakshmi, due to that relationship he has made AzhwAr as his servitor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thirumAL<\/strong> \u2013 one who is infatuated with SrI mahAlakshmi. Even though he is nArAyaNa [supreme being] since he is also totally affectionate towards her, could he bear if she frowns? How can he look up her face if he disregards <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumazhisai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> who is her servitor?<\/p>\n<p><strong>nArAyaNan than pErAna<\/strong> \u2013 the divine names of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> which denote his supremacy and his infatuation with her.<\/p>\n<p><strong>pErAna<\/strong> \u2013 his thousand names as denoted by the verses \u201c<em>dhEvO nAmasahasravAn<\/em>\u201d (lord with a thousand names), \u201c<em>pErAyiram koNdadhOr pIdudaiyan nArAyaNan<\/em>\u201d (nArAyaNa who has a thousand names due to which he has greatness), \u201c<em>pErum OrAyiram piRa pala udaiya nArAyaNan<\/em>\u201d (nArAyaNa who has a thousand names and many other qualities).<\/p>\n<p><strong>pEsappeRAdha piNachchamayar<\/strong> \u2013 those belonging to other philosophies, who do not have the good fortune as a result of which they are like corpses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>piNachchamayar<\/strong> \u2013 this could be construed as those belonging to decaying philosophies (like a corpse)<\/p>\n<p><strong>nArAyaNan &#8230;..pErAna pEsappeRAdha piNachchamayar<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0 isn\u2019t it apt to call those who do not know him who is the only life for all the worlds and those philosophies which they belong to, as being like corpse!<\/p>\n<p><strong>pEsakkEttu<\/strong> \u2013 hearing that whatever has been said in vEdhas is not correct and what has been said outside the vEdhas only is true.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Asaippattu<\/strong> \u2013 being drawn towards them [who speak against vEdhas], thinking that only these are true<\/p>\n<p><strong>AzhwAr palar<\/strong> \u2013 There are many who get drawn towards the samsAram, in this way.<\/p>\n<p>We will move on to the 15<sup>th<\/sup> pAsuram next.<\/p>\n<p>adiyEn krishNa rAmAnuja dhAsan<\/p>\n<p>archived in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\">https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>pramEyam (goal) \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/koyil.org\/\">https:\/\/koyil.org<\/a><br \/>\npramANam (scriptures) \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\">http:\/\/granthams.koyil.org<\/a><br \/>\npramAthA (preceptors) \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\">http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org<\/a><br \/>\nSrIvaishNava education\/kids portal \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/pillai.koyil.org\/\">http:\/\/pillai.koyil.org<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SrI:\u00a0 SrImathE SatakOpAya nama:\u00a0 SrImathE rAmAnujAya nama:\u00a0 SrImath varavaramunayE nama: Full Series &lt;&lt; Previous avathArikai AzhwAr was asked \u201cYou say that nArAyaNa is both the means and object of attainment.
