Does this mean that there is no difference between them and you?\u201d to which AzhwAr responds in this pAsuram, saying \u201cthere is a lot of difference between us. Since I have been granted emperumAn\u2019s mercy, I am capable of seeing him too. brahmA, rudhra et al, who try to see emperumAn through their efforts, are not capable of even praising him\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>AngAravAram adhu kEttu azhal umizhum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> pUngAraravaNaiyAn ponmEni yAngANa<\/em><br \/>\n<em> vallamE allamE? mAmalarAn vAr sadaiyAn<\/em><br \/>\n<em> vallarE allarE vAzhththu<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word for Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Angu \u2013 during that time of thrivikrama avathAram<br \/>\nAravAram kettu \u2013 hearing the loud sound emanating from brahmA et al as they praised <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[mistaking that sound for asuras creating commotion]<br \/>\nazhal umizhum \u2013 spitting fire of poison<br \/>\npU kAr aravu aNaiyAn \u2013 emperumAn has the furious ananthAzhwAn (AdhiSEsha) as his mattress. That emperumAn\u2019s<br \/>\nponmEni \u2013 the divine form<br \/>\nnAm \u2013 we (who are <em>ananyabhakthas<\/em> [not worshipping other deities])<br \/>\nkANa \u2013 to worship<br \/>\nvallam allamE \u2013 do we not have the ability? (Yes, we have the ability)<br \/>\nmA malarAn \u2013 brahmA who\u00a0 was born in a great (lotus) flower<br \/>\nvAr sadaiyAn \u2013 Siva, who has long matted hair<br \/>\nvAzhththu \u2013 in praising (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>)<br \/>\nvallar allarE \u2013 they are not capable<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Angu<\/strong> \u2013 during that time of thrivikrama avathAram, \u201ckazhuvinAn&#8230;&#8230;Angu\u201d as mentioned in the previous pAsuram.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AravAram adhu kEttu<\/strong> \u2013 hearing the words of worship (1) by various entities such as brahmA who, as mentioned in the previous pAsuram \u201c<em>maRai koNda mandhiraththAl vAzhththi<\/em>\u201d (praising through hymns from vEdhas; (2) by people who were referred to by <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> in his thiruvAimozhi 7.4.1 \u201c<em>dhisai vAzhi ezha<\/em>\u201d (words of praise emanating from all directions), (3) by various people in the worlds who said \u201c<em>sangais surANAm dhivi bhUthalasthais thathA manushyair gaganE cha kEsarai: <\/em>I <em>sthutha: kramAn ya: prasakAra sarvadhA mamAsthu mAngaLya vivrudhdhayE hari:<\/em> II \u201d (let that hari, who was praised by entities such as dhEva, manushya et al (celestial, human et al) and who measured the worlds, expand my auspiciousness)<\/p>\n<p><strong>azhal umizhum<\/strong> \u2013 spitting fire, mistaking the sounds emanating from various directions which were actually words of praise on thrivikrama, for attempts being made by some [demons] for harming <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/bhuthaththazhwar\/\">bhUdhaththAzhwAr<\/a>, in his <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2018\/01\/irandam-thiruvandhadhi-71\/\">iraNdAm thiruvandhAdhi 71<\/a>, had mercifully mentioned \u201c<em>vidangAlum thIvAyaravaNai mEl thOnRal dhisaiyaLappAn pUvAradi nimirththapOdhu<\/em>\u201d (when emperumAn who reclines on the mattress of AdhiSEshan who spits poison from his frightening mouths&#8230;.). The same meaning can be seen in vEdha \u201c<em>jAgruvAmsas samindhathE&#8230;<\/em>\u201d(nithyasUris remain alert &#8230;); by <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/periyazhwar\/\">periyAzhwAr<\/a> in his <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/11\/thiruppallandu-12-pallandu-enru\/\">thiruppallANdu 12<\/a> \u201c<em>sUzhndhirundhEththuvar pallANdE<\/em>\u201d (emperumAn will be praised by nithyasUris from all sides) and by <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/parasara-bhattar\/\">parASara bhattar<\/a> \u201c<em>snEhAdhasthAnakshA vyasanibhi <\/em>\u201d (those who make an effort to protect [emperumAn] out of misplaced fear).<\/p>\n<p><strong>pUngAr aravaNaiyAn<\/strong> \u2013 one who has the furious AdhiSEshan as his mattress.<\/p>\n<p><strong>pUngAr aravu<\/strong> \u2013 since AdhiSEshan\u2019s fury is arising out his love towards <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, even that fury appears beautiful to <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumazhisai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> who is praying that this fury should remain unchanged.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ponmEni yAngANa vallamE allamE<\/strong> \u2013 are we, who do not consider that there can be anything beyond emperumAn\u2019s divine form as the means and goal, not capable of seeing his divine form? It is implied that they are very well capable of seeing. Even for bhagavAn, his <em>rUpam<\/em> (divine form) is dearer than his <em>svarUpam<\/em> (basic nature) as mercifully mentioned by SrI <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/alavandhar\/\">ALavandhAr<\/a> in his <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/12\/chathu-sloki-slokams\/\">chathu: SlOkI<\/a> 4 \u201c<em>mUrtham brahma thathO\u2019pi thathpriyatharam rUpam yadhadhbutham<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>mAmalarAn<\/strong> \u2013 nAnmugan who resides in the lotus, shooting from <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s navel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vAr sadaiyAn<\/strong> \u2013 rudhra who has long matted locks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vAzhththu vallarE allarE<\/strong> \u2013 they are not capable of even praising that emperumAn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>mAmalrAn &#8230;<\/strong> \u2013 brahmA, who has the vanity that he was born in the lotus like divine navel of emperumAn directly, and rudhra, who is vain that he carried out penance, by letting his matted hair fall to the ground, are incapable of praising emperumAn. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumazhisai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says that people who consider emperumAn\u2019s divine form as both means and goal are capable of seeing him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vallamE allamE &#8230;..vallarE allarE<\/strong> \u2013 only those like AzhwAr who praise those who are affectionate towards <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> are capable of seeing him whereas those who consider that they have great power are incapable of even worshipping him.<\/p>\n<p>There is another interpretation for this pAsuram. <em>Angu<\/em> is considered to be SrIvaikuNtam . <em>AravAram adhu kEttu<\/em> \u2013 hearing the <em>sAma vEdha<\/em> (one of the four vEdhas, which is sung with intonations) of nithyasUris in SrIvaikuNtam. <em>azhal umizhum<\/em> &#8211; AdhiSEshan spits fire of poison thinking mistakenly that demons have descended on SrIvaikuNtam and are shouting.
