He tells his heart to praise and worship at the divine feet of such emperumAn who carries out favours like this.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>pugundhu ilangum andhip pozhudhaththu ariyAy<\/em><br \/>\n<em> igazhndha iraNiayadhAgam sugirndhengum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> sindhappiLandha thirumAL thiruvadiyE<\/em><br \/>\n<em> vandhiththu en nenjamE vAzhththu<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>andhi pugundhu \u2013 with dusk setting<br \/>\nilangum pozhudhaththu \u2013 at the time when it manifests<br \/>\nari Ay \u2013 incarnating in the form of narasimha (lion head and human body)<br \/>\nigazhndha iraNiyadhu Agam \u2013 the body of demon iraNiyan (hiraNya kashyap) who was constantly abusing <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a><br \/>\nsugirndhu \u2013cutting it into many pieces<br \/>\nengum sindha \u2013 dropping it all over the place<br \/>\npiLandha \u2013 one who tore<br \/>\nthirumAl \u2013 emperumAn\u2019s<br \/>\nthiruvadiyE \u2013 only divine feet<br \/>\nen nenjamE \u2013 Oh my heart!<br \/>\nvandhiththu vAyAra vAzhththu \u2013 bow the head and praise him fully.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyanam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>pugundhu ilangum andhip pozhudhaththu<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/peyazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> mentions about the setting in of dusk. Since sun sets at that time, it will be reddish in colour.<\/p>\n<p><strong>andhip pozhudhaththu<\/strong> \u2013 during evening time, the strength of demons will increase many fold. iraNiyan had taken a boon that he should not be killed during day time or night time. He did not take a boon for not being killed at dusk. Hence <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> chose that time to kill him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ariyAy<\/strong> \u2013 iraNiyan had taken a boon that he should not be killed by <em>dhEvas<\/em> (celestial entities) or <em>manushyas<\/em> (humans) . Hence emperumAn took the form of <em>narasimha<\/em>, a form that iraNiyan did not think had the capability to kill him and hence did not ask a boon for. If we rearrange the words of the verse to get <em>andhippozhudhaththu pugundhu ilangum ariyAy<\/em> the meaning would change to \u2013 entering during dusk in the form of a radiant narasimha.<\/p>\n<p><strong>igazhndha iraNiyadhu Agam<\/strong> \u2013 the body of iraNiyan, who constantly was abusing <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> as well as prahlAdha,\u00a0 which had grown out of the strength from boons granted by celestial entities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>sugirndhu engum sindhap piLandha<\/strong> \u2013 apart from killing iraNiyan who is the enemy of follower prahlAdha, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/peyazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> also mentions the fury that emperumAn had when he killed iraNiyan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>sugirndhu<\/strong> \u2013 cutting into many pieces<\/p>\n<p><strong>engum sindhap piLandha<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> tore iraNiyan\u2019s body and strew them all over the place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thirumAl<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is together with <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sri-mahalakshmi\/\">pirAtti<\/a> who is the reason for his carrying out beneficial activities for his followers. The reason for his having partiality towards his followers is pirAtti. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/peyazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says this so that we praise her along with praising emperumAn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thiruvadiyE<\/strong> \u2013 the divine feet of emperumAn who is the consort of pirAtti.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vandhiththu<\/strong> \u2013 bowing down to him<\/p>\n<p><strong>en nenjamE<\/strong> \u2013 Oh my heart which feels happy when thinking of him!<\/p>\n<p><strong>vAzhththu<\/strong> \u2013 praise him.
