The quality of <em>saulabhyam<\/em> (simplicity) is spoken of here as the boundary for modesty. AzhwAr is amazed at the ability of emperumAn to don the act of one who has to accomplish something (the form of Siva) and the act of one who is readily available (the form of vishNu) at the same time! How amazing is this, he wonders!<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>thAzh sadaiyum nINmudiyum oNmazhuvum chakkaramum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> sUzharavum ponnANum thOnRumAl sUzhum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> thiraNdaruvi pAyum thirumalaimEl endhaikku<\/em><br \/>\n<em> iraNduruvum onRAy isaindhu<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>thAzh sadaiyum \u2013 matted locks tied in a lowly way<br \/>\nnIL mudiyum \u2013 long divine crown<br \/>\noN mazhuvum \u2013 the beautiful weapon <em>mazhu<\/em> (axe)<br \/>\nchakkaramum \u2013 divine disc<br \/>\nsUzh aravum \u2013 snakes coiling around<br \/>\npon nANum \u2013 having golden waist cord<br \/>\niraNdu uruvum \u2013 these two forms (of Sankara and nArAyaNa)<br \/>\nsUzhum thiraNdu aruvi pAyum thirumalai mEl endhaikku \u2013 for my father (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>) who is atop thirumalai hills which have streams on all sides<br \/>\nonRu Ay isaindhu thOnRum \u2013 \u00a0merge into one<br \/>\nAl \u2013 how amazing is this!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyanam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>thAzh sadaiyum<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> took as his <em>SarIram <\/em>(divine physical form) the physical form of Siva with his matted hair tied in a lowly way, exhibiting clearly that he [Siva] has assumed this form [with matted hair] in order to accomplish something [by carrying out penance]. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/peyazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says that without feeling disgusted that he had to take as part of his physical form, the form of one with matted hair, emperumAn undertook that too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>nIL mudiyum<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s crown which gives out to everyone that he is the leader of all the worlds. What simplicity is this that he is equating such divine crown with a lowly matted hair!<\/p>\n<p><strong>oL mazhuvum<\/strong> \u2013 the weapon axe which is used to trouble others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>chakkaramum<\/strong> \u2013 just as it is mentioned in thiruviruththam 33 \u201c<em>aruLAr thiruchchakkaram<\/em>\u201d, the divine disc which is used to protect<\/p>\n<p><strong>sUzh aravum<\/strong> \u2013 snake which is wound around the waist to create fear<\/p>\n<p><strong>pon nANum<\/strong> \u2013 the golden waist cord which is wound around the waist to display wealth<\/p>\n<p><strong>thOnRumAl<\/strong> \u2013 these two forms appear to be one. Isn\u2019t Siva too a part of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s <em>SarIram<\/em> (divine physical form)!<\/p>\n<p><strong>sUzhum thiraNdaruvi pAyum thirumalai mEl endhaikku<\/strong> \u2013 to my father who has taken residence in the divine hills of thirumalai, surrounded everywhere with streams<\/p>\n<p><strong>iraNdu uruvum onRAy isaindhu<\/strong> \u2013 these two forms complemented each other and merged into one! Even though the two forms are incongruent, it appears that they suited him [<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>] as if they were meant for him that way!<\/p>\n<p><strong>isaindhu<\/strong> \u2013 even <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/peyazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> had thought that the two forms will not complement each other. One form (of Siva) is meant to accomplish something [through penance] and the other (of vishNu) is full of beauty. Despite such contrast, the two forms appeared as one and fitted <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> well! AzhwAr wonders at this simplicity of emperumAn!
