In the previous pAsuram, had he not mentioned \u201c<em>kalangAp perunagaram kAttuvAn<\/em>\u201d! When asked whether <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> gives paramapadham only to those who desire it, he says that it is emperumAn himself who creates that desire also.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>eydhAn marAmaram EzhumirAmanAy<\/em><br \/>\n<em> eydhAn ammAn maRIyai EndhizhaikkAy eydhadhuvum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> thennilagaik kOn vIzhach chenRu kuRaL uruvAy<\/em><br \/>\n<em> munnilam kaikkoNdAn muyanRu<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>irAmanAy \u2013 incarnating as SrI rAma<br \/>\nmarAmaram Ezhum \u2013 the seven ebony trees<br \/>\neydhAn \u2013 he pierced with his arrow<br \/>\nEndhu izhaikkAy \u2013 for the sake of sIthAppirAtti who had decorated with ornaments<br \/>\nam mAn maRiyai \u2013 aiming at the fawn (actually the demon mArIcha who had come in the form of a fawn)<br \/>\neydhAn \u2013 he shot it with his arrow effortlessly<br \/>\neydhadhuvum \u2013 shooting his arrows well<br \/>\nthen ilangai kOn vIzha \u2013 to kill rAvaNa, the king of southern lankA<br \/>\nmun \u2013 at an earlier point of time<br \/>\nkuRaL uruvAy \u2013 in the form of vAmana (dwarf)<br \/>\nsenRu \u2013 going to mahAbali<br \/>\nmuyanRu \u2013 making efforts (such as manifesting his divine form, speaking gibberish, measuring the world etc)<br \/>\nnilam kaik koNdAn \u2013 he captured earth<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyanam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>eydhAn marAmaram Ezhum irAmanAy<\/strong> \u2013 in order to convince his follower sugrIva who had asked\u00a0 him to pierce one ebony tree to prove that he has the capability to kill vAli (sugrIva\u2019s elder brother), SrI rAma pierced seven ebony trees with a single arrow. It is implied that when he creates desire in those who are ill-disposed towards him, he will do so just as he does in the case of those who are well disposed towards him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>eydhAn ammAn maRiya EndhizhaikkAy<\/strong> \u2013 not willing to go against the word of sIthApiirAtti, he shot and killed that deer such that the demon mArIcha who had come in the form of deer fell, rolling on the ground [in agony]. If the text is taken as <strong>maRiyai<\/strong> which means a fawn, he killed it without considering it that it is a fawn, since sIthAppirAtti had desired it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EndhizhaikkAy<\/strong> \u2013 sIthAppirAtti\u2019s beauty bewildered SrI rAma too, who has said in SrI rAmAyaNam AraNya kANdam 64-78 \u201c<em>purEva mE chAru thadhImaninthithAm<\/em>\u201d(sIthA who is the princess of mithilA, who has beautiful row of teeth and who is faultless). It is implied here that by going after the deer, he nurtured the desire of sIthA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>eydhadhuvum then ilangai kOn vIzha<\/strong> \u2013 he killed rAvaNa, the king of lankA which is in the southern direction, by shooting arrow. By displaying his valour, he made people, who were not engaged with him on seeing his physical beauty, to be engaged with him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>senRu kuRaL uruvAy mun nilam kaik koNdAn<\/strong> \u2013 at an earlier point of time, in the form of vAmana (dwarf) he took efforts to get back earth, by accepting it as alms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>mun nilam kaik koNdAn muyanRu<\/strong> \u2013 he captured all the worlds by taking efforts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>muyanRu<\/strong> \u2013 this describes the incongruent words that he had spoken as vAmana when he told mahAbali \u201c<em>koLvannAn mAvali mUvadi thA<\/em>\u201d (I will accept, mahAbali; give me three steps) which are disconnected like a child speaking gibberish.
