He then looks at his heart and asks it to involve itself in efforts to see him directly.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>vadivAr mudikOtti vAnavargaL nALum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> kadiyAr malar thUvik kANum padiyAnai<\/em><br \/>\n<em> semmaiyAl uLLurugich chevvanE nenjamE<\/em><br \/>\n<em> meymmiayE kANa virumbu<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>nenjamE \u2013 Oh heart!<br \/>\nvAnavargaL \u2013 nithyasUris (permanent dwellers of SrIvaikuNtam)<br \/>\nvadivu Ar \u2013 being beautiful<br \/>\nmudi \u2013 crowns<br \/>\nkOtti \u2013 making them worship<br \/>\nkadi Ar malar \u2013 having fragrant flowers<br \/>\nnALum \u2013 every day<br \/>\nthUvi \u2013 offering<br \/>\nkANum padiyAnai \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> who is seen (always) with divine form<br \/>\nsemmaiyAl \u2013 in a proper way<br \/>\nuL urugi \u2013 with mind melting<br \/>\nsevvanE \u2013 in a direct way<br \/>\nmeymmaiyE\u00a0 \u2013 as it is<br \/>\nkANa \u2013 to worship<br \/>\nvirumbu \u2013 have desire<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyanam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>vadivAr mudi kOtti<\/strong> \u2013 nithyasUris lower their beautiful crowns, bow down and worship emperumAn. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/peyazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says that it should be like this only [everyone should worship <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p><strong>mudi kOtti<\/strong> \u2013 nithyasUris bow down their crowns. Just as <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> mercifully mentioned in his thiruvAimozhi 8-4-5 \u201c<em>paNiyA amarar<\/em>\u201d nithyasUris, like rAvaNa who did not bow down to emperumAn, will not bow down to anyone other than <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vAnavargaL<\/strong> \u2013 this term could refer to either nithyasUris or to celestial entities such as brahmA et al.<\/p>\n<p><strong>nALum<\/strong> \u2013 everyday. Just as we eat every day, nithyasUris will worship <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> every day. Has it not been mentioned in rig ashtakam 1-2-7 \u201c<em>sadhA paSyanthi sUraya: <\/em>\u201d (nithyasUris constantly see emperumAn)!<\/p>\n<p><strong>kadiyAr malar thUvi<\/strong> \u2013 offering fragrant flowers at the divine feet of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, without expecting any benefit<\/p>\n<p><strong>kANum<\/strong> \u2013 as the benefit of offering such flowers, they will be able to see emperumAn. They will engage all their sensory perceptions with emperumAn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>padiyAnai<\/strong> \u2013 having divine form. The word <em>padi<\/em> would refer to either his divine form or his divine characteristics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>semmiayAl uL urugi<\/strong> \u2013 melting with the heart, realising in a proper way that <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is the lord and we are servitors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>sevvanE nenjamE<\/strong> \u2013 Oh heart! In the way to attain him. This implies having emperumAn as the means for attaining him. Even if you engage in <em>bhakthi<\/em> (devotion) instead of trying to see him through your efforts, seeing him when he manifests himself on his own.<\/p>\n<p><strong>meymmaiyE kANa virumbu<\/strong> \u2013 instead of trying to see only one quality of his and withdrawing, make an effort to see him fully! Have desire in this instead of looking for other benefits. In other words, implying that he is the end goal (benefit). <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/peyazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> is already enjoying the dharSan of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>. What is meant by asking his heart to desire to see him?
