AzhwAr says, \u201cSince emperumAn has become medicine, aiSvaryam and nectar, let me enjoy his beauty\u201d While describing emperumAn\u2019s beauty, recourse is taken to compare with worldly materials more out of bewilderment than any other reason. AzhwAr says that once one thinks of emperumAn\u2019s beauty, it is impossible not to speak; it is also impossibleto speak.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>adivaNNam thAmarai anRulagam thAyOn<\/em><br \/>\n<em> padivanNNam pArkkadal nIr vaNNam mudivaNNam<\/em><br \/>\n<em> OrAzhiveyyOn oLiyum ahdhanRE<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ArAzhi koNdARkazhagu<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>anRu ulagam thAyOn \u2013 on that day (when mahAbali poured water on vAmana\u2019s palm), when <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> measured all the worlds, his<br \/>\nadi vaNNam \u2013 the colour of his divine feet<br \/>\nthAmarai \u2013 is reddish like the lotus<br \/>\npadi vaNNam \u2013 the colour of his divine form<br \/>\npar kadal nIR vaNNam \u2013 is dark like the ocean, surrounding earth<br \/>\nmudi vaNNam \u2013 the colour of his crown<br \/>\nOr Azhi veyyon \u2013 the colour of sun who travels on a chariot with one wheel and who has harsh rays<br \/>\noLiyum \u2013 radiance (of that <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>)<br \/>\nahdhanRE \u2013 is also like that sun<br \/>\nAr Azhi koNdARku azhagu \u2013 the beauty of such emperumAn holding the beautiful divine disc, is like this.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyanam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>adi vaNNam thAmarai<\/strong> \u2013 simile for the divine feet is lotus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>anRu ulagam thAyOn padi vaNNam pAr kadal nIr vaNNam<\/strong> \u2013 the colour of divine form of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> who measured the worlds, is that of the ocean which surrounds the world. If his complexion were white, one could say that it is like that of <em>pARkadal <\/em>(the milky ocean). But since his complexion is dark, it is mentioned as <em>pAr kadal nIr vaNNam<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>mudi vaNNam OrAzhi veyyOn<\/strong> \u2013 the colour of emperumAn\u2019s crown is similar to sun.<\/p>\n<p><strong>OrAzhi veyyOn<\/strong> \u2013 this could be construed either as sun who has chariot with single wheel or as sun\u2019s galaxy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>oLiyum ahdhanRE<\/strong>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s radiance is also like that of sun.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ar Azhi koNdARku<\/strong> \u2013 emperumAn who has such a beauty that if he holds the divine disc in his hand, he doesn\u2019t need any other ornament to be adorned with. Beauty for one who is holding the beautiful disc in his hand.
