In this pAsuram, it is mentioned that emperumAn remains ignorant of others, except AzhwAr.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>manaththuLLAn mAkadal nIruLLan malarAL<\/em><br \/>\n<em> thanaththuLLAn thanduzhAy mArvan sinaththuch<\/em><br \/>\n<em> cherunarugach cheRRugandha thEngOdhavaNNan<\/em><br \/>\n<em> varunaragam thIrkkum marundhu<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>mA kadal nIr uLLAn \u2013 one who is resting on the huge thiruppARkadal (milky ocean)<br \/>\nmalarAL thanaththu uLLAn \u2013 one who is on the bosom of pirAtti (SrI mahAlakshmi)<br \/>\nthaN thuzhAy mArban \u2013 one who is donning the cool, thuLasi garland on his chest<br \/>\nserunar \u2013 enemies<br \/>\nuga \u2013 to be destroyed<br \/>\nsinaththu \u2013 through his anger<br \/>\nseRRu \u2013 destroying<br \/>\nugandha \u2013 one who was happy<br \/>\nthEngu Odham vaNNan \u2013 with the complexion of a full ocean<br \/>\nvaru naragam thIrkkum marundhu \u2013 sarvESvaran is like the medicine which will cure the disease of the unavoidable samsAram (life in the materialistic realm)<br \/>\nuLLAn \u2013 he is living in my heart<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyanam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>manaththu uLLAn<\/strong> \u2013 the most desired place for emperumAn is AzhwAr\u2019s mind. He made AzhwAr\u2019s mind as his mattress and entered it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>mA kadal nIr uLLAn<\/strong> \u2013 this is the place he prepared himself in order to enter AzhwAr\u2019s mind. He reclined in thiruppARkadal in order to protect his followers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>malarAL thanaththu uLLAn<\/strong> \u2013 just as he made thiruppARkadal as his resting place, he also considered pirAtti\u2019s bosom as his resting place. Is he not as mentioned in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/thiruppavai-20-muppaththu-muvar\/\">thiruppAvai 20<\/a> \u201c<em>nappinnai kongai mEl vaiththuk kidandha malar mArban<\/em>\u201d (one who rested on the bosom of nappinnai (nILA dhEvi))! It is nappinnai who helps him to go back to <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sri-mahalakshmi\/\">periya pirAtti<\/a>. We can also consider the verse <em>malarAL thanaththuLLAn<\/em> to indicate his wealth. From all these it is considered that what <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/periyazhwar\/\">periyAzhwAr<\/a> said in his periyAzhwAr thirumozhi 5-2-10 is apt \u201c<em>aravaththamiLiyinOdum azhagiya pARkadalOdum aravindhappAvaiyum thAnum agampadi vandhu pugundhu <\/em>\u201d (emperumAn entered AzhwAr\u2019s heart with his serpent mattress, the milky ocean and his consort).<\/p>\n<p><strong>malarAL thanaththuLLAn<\/strong> \u2013 the place where his lifeline is located is pirAtti\u2019s bosom.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thaNduzhAy mArvan<\/strong> \u2013 the place where pirAtti\u2019s lifeline is located is emperumAn\u2019s chest. What emperumAn carries out in her bosom, pirAtti carries out with his garland on the divine shoulder. He has such garland on his divine shoulder.<\/p>\n<p><strong>sinaththuch cherunar ugach cheRRu<\/strong> \u2013 with his anger, annihilating his enemies; alternatively, we can add the anger to his enemies and consider this verse to mean that he destroys his enemies who are angry. Destroying his enemies like this is an activity to make pirAtti happy. As mentioned in SrI rAmAyaNam AraNya kANdam 30-39 \u201c<em>tham dhrushtvA SathruhanthAram maharshINAm sukhAvaham babhUva hrushtA vaidhEhi bharthAram parishasvajE <\/em>\u201d (after seeing SrI rAma who destroyed the enemies and made the great sages happy, sithAp pirAtti realised that she existed; she was very happy and she embraced her husband well), did not sIthA become happy after knowing that the enemies of great sages have been destroyed and embrace her husband!<\/p>\n<p><strong>ugandha<\/strong> \u2013 emperumAn was happy that he had destroyed the enemies of his followers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thEngOdha vaNNan<\/strong> \u2013 he has the complexion of the deep ocean. Thus, he has the form which removes his followers\u2019 fatigue. This beauty came about due to his destroying the enemies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>varunaragam<\/strong> \u2013 Just as it is mentioned in brahmavaivartham, prakruthi kANdam 26-70 \u201c<em>avaSyamanubhOkthavyam krutham karma SubASubham<\/em>\u201d (one has to necessarily experience the results of one\u2019s pApa (sinful deeds) and puNya (virtuous deeds)), it is the unavoidable life in this materialistic realm which is termed as <em>naragam<\/em> (hell).<\/p>\n<p><strong>thIrkkum marundhu<\/strong> \u2013 he is the medicine for crossing over this hell which is impossible to cross (otherwise). It is emperumAn\u2019s characteristic to be the <em>vaidhya<\/em> (physician). Just as one says that such and such person is dark complexioned [his characteristic]. Isn\u2019t our mind the reason for such an entity to enter our mind! Has it not been mentioned in <a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/6-5\/\">SrI bhagavath gIthA 6-5<\/a> \u201c<em>Athmaiva AthmanO bandhu: Athmaivai ripurAthmana:<\/em>\u201d (mind is AthmA\u2019s friend; mind is AthmA\u2019s enemy)! He is inside the mind to remove the impending hell.
