AzhwAr says how the karmas (deeds, both good and bad) of those who hold on to him disappear. He tells about the way emperumAn carries out activities for his followers and how he removes their enemies.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>kadhavikkadham siRandha kanjanai mun kAyndhu<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Adhavip pOr yAnai osiththu padhaviyAy<\/em><br \/>\n<em> pANiyAl nIrERRup paNdorukAl mAvaliyai<\/em><br \/>\n<em> mANiyAy koNdilaiyE maN<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meaning<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>kadham siRandha \u2013 very angry<br \/>\nkanjanai \u2013 kamsa<br \/>\nmun kadhavik kAyndhu \u2013 getting angry with him in his presence<br \/>\npoR yAnai \u2013 the elephant kuvalayApidam which came to fight with him [krishNa]<br \/>\nadhavi \u2013 controlling it<br \/>\nosiththu \u2013 breaking its tusks<br \/>\npaNdu oru kAl \u2013 once upon a time<br \/>\npadhaviyAy \u2013 having the quality of gentleness<br \/>\nmANiyAy \u2013 as a brahmachAri (bachelor)<br \/>\nmAvaliyai \u2013 king mahAbali<br \/>\npANiyAl \u2013 with hand<br \/>\nnIr ERRu \u2013 taking water as indication of accepting alms<br \/>\nmaN koNdilaiyE \u2013 did you not obtain earth?<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>kadham siRandha kanjanai<\/strong> \u2013 kamsa who was very angry<\/p>\n<p><strong>kadhavi mun kAyndhu<\/strong> \u2013 like spitting fire<\/p>\n<p><strong>mun kAyndhu<\/strong> \u2013 doing to himself what he wanted to do (i.e. while kamsa wanted to kill krishNa, krishNa killed kamsa)<\/p>\n<p>Or<\/p>\n<p><strong>kadhavi<\/strong> \u2013 getting angry<\/p>\n<p><strong>kadham siRandhu<\/strong> \u2013 it can be said that the anger itself appeared to be beautiful<\/p>\n<p><strong>adhavip pOr yAnai osiththu<\/strong> \u2013 breaking the tusks of the elephant, incapacitating it. krishNa kept dodging the elephant and drove it such that the elephant became tired and he pulled out its tusks without any effort. This was done to help vasudhEva and dhEvaki.<\/p>\n<p><strong>padhaviyAy<\/strong> \u2013 being very simple. Since you [<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>], despite having so much strength, saw a good quality in mahAbali. Alternatively the word <em>padhaviyAy<\/em> can be construed as \u2013 unlike killing kamsan, emperumAn honourably let mahAbali to live.<\/p>\n<p><strong>pANiyAl<\/strong> \u2013 with the hand which had only given to others all along<\/p>\n<p><strong>nIr ERRu<\/strong> \u2013 getting very joyous at getting back his possession of the worlds as if it is something which he could never get<\/p>\n<p><strong>paNdoru kAl mANiyAyk koNdilaiyE maN<\/strong> \u2013 did you accept it as a gift such that your wealth (greatness) showed? Did you not accept the gift as a bachelor, manifesting the quality of seeking alms! It appeared as if your hands had got scarred by accepting alms continuously. Even as <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> left SrIvaikuNtam for his incarnation as vAmana, he kept thinking about seeking alms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>pANiyAl nIrERRup paNdorukAl mAvaliyai mANiyAyk koNidilaiyE maN<\/strong> \u2013 with the hand which you had used only for giving to others, you accepted the water which mahAbali offered [as a sign of giving what <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> sought].
