He said \u201cleaving aside various means which are insentient, hold on to me who is <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\"><em>paramachEthana<\/em> (supremely sentient)<\/a> and who is trying to attain you\u201d. Those words were spoken to one arjuna at one point of time. periya perumAL (SrIranganAtha, who is dwelling in the SrIrangam temple), tells at all times \u201c<em>mAm Ekam SaraNam vraja<\/em>\u201d The word <em>mAm<\/em> refers to the simplicity of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>. The simplicity found in periya perumAL is far greater than that found in krishNa. periya perumAL\u2019s simplicity will make the simplicity of krishNa to run for life. ANdAL has mercifully stated in nAchchiyAr thirumozhi 11-10 \u201c<em>semmaiyudaiya thiruvarangar<\/em>\u201d (SrIranganAthar who acts in unison through his thoughts, speech and actions) and in nAchchiyAr thirumozhi 11-3 \u201c<em>sengOludaiya thiruvarangachchelvanAr<\/em>\u201d (SrIranganAthar who rules both materialistic and spiritualistic realms with a spectre in his hand). Even to reach SrIvaikuNtam, he [<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>] has to decide first.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thiRambA vazhi senRArkku allAl<\/strong> \u2013 other than those who hold on to him as the means<\/p>\n<p><strong>thiRambA vazhi<\/strong> \u2013 the means which will never fail. In other words, the way which was determined in SrI bhagavath gIthA 18-66 \u201c<em>mAm Ekam<\/em>\u201d (he is the only way). Unlike the other forms of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> (para, vyUha and vibhava which are approachable only to nithya-mukthars (eternally free and liberated ones respectively), mukthaprAyars (those who are at par with liberated ones) and the fortunate ones), archAvatharam is easily accessible to everyone. It can also be construed as \u2013 attaining other dhEvathAs is the wrong path and attaining emperumAn is the way which will not fail.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thiRambAchchedi naragai<\/strong> \u2013 the hellish place (materialistic realm) which was made that way by people themselves, from which escaping is impossible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thiRambA<\/strong> \u2013 the hell from which one cannot escape. The place which will remain despite experiencing it for a long time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>nIkkith thAm selvadhan mun<\/strong> \u2013 even for those who can escape this.<\/p>\n<p>But, before that<\/p>\n<p><strong>thAn selvadhan mun<\/strong> &#8211; \u00a0this <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">chEthana (sentient entity)<\/a> who is <em>omniscient and omnipotent<\/em> is unable to cross this simple hurdle! (in other words, is it possible for the chEthana who is ignorant and incapable, to cross this hurdle?) The opinion here is that the time that he had spent carrying out sinful activities has been without any beginning, hence he does not have enough time to cross this samsAram.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vAnOr kadi nagara vAsal kadhavu<\/strong> \u2013 the door to SrivikuNtam which is fortified by the presence of nithyasUris. <em>kadi<\/em> refers to protection. Hasn\u2019t <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> himself said in varAha charama SlOkam \u201c<em>nayAmi paramAm gathim<\/em>\u201d (I will take you to a great status)! Instead of attaining him by not shunning him when he comes to help us, how sad it is that one loses the opportunity by attempting to attain him through one\u2019s own efforts by destroying one\u2019s own <em>svarUpam<\/em> (basic nature)!<\/p>\n<p><strong>kadi nagaram<\/strong> \u2013 kadi can also refer to fragrance, in which case the meaning will change to SrIvaikuNtam which is sweet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/bhuthaththazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says that he learnt that he somehow escaped from this predicament. Attaining him through his mercy is the best. When <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is attempting to attain the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">chEthana<\/a>, the chEthana making efforts to attain him and losing him through such activities is very lowly. There are people who lose him because they are inimical to him. There are also people who lose him, despite being favourable to him, by attempting to reach him on their own as stated previously.
