Alternatively it could be said that AzhwAr is mercifully mentioning the abodes where emperumAn has taken residence for the sake of his followers. This pAsuram describes the infatuation that emperumAn has for his followers. Thus, in the 68<sup>th<\/sup> pAsuram, the way he gave nectar to those who desired it was mentioned. In the 69<sup>th<\/sup> pAsuram, the way he gave kingdoms to those who desired them was mentioned. In this pAsuram, the way he gave himself to those who desired him is mentioned.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>thamaruLLam thanjai thalaiyarangam thaNkAl<\/em><br \/>\n<em> thamaruLLum thaN poruppu vElai thamaruLLum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> mAmallai kOval madhiL kudandhai enbarE<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Evalla endhaikku idam<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meaning<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>thamar uLLam \u2013 devotees\u2019 heart<br \/>\nthanjai \u2013 thanjai mAmaNik kOyil [a divine abode in thanjAvUr]<br \/>\nthalai arangam \u2013 (among all divine places) most special thiruvarangam<br \/>\nthaNkAl \u2013 thiruththaNkAl [a \u00a0divine abode near present day sivakAsi]<br \/>\nthamar uLLum \u2013 what the followers have thought of (as everything for them)<br \/>\nthaN poruppu \u2013 the cool thirumalai (thiruvEngadam)<br \/>\nvElai \u2013 thiruppARkadal (milky ocean)<br \/>\nthamar uLLum \u2013 places meditated upon by followers<br \/>\nmAmallai \u2013 thirukkadal mallai [mahAbalipuram]<br \/>\nkOval \u2013 thirukkOvalUr<br \/>\nmadhiL kudandhai \u2013 kudandhai [kumbakONam] with divine fortified walls<\/p>\n<p>thus, all these abodes<br \/>\nE valla endhaikku idam enbar \u2013 [his followers] will say are the residences for chakravarthy thirumagan (SrI rAma) who is an expert at shooting arrows.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>thamar uLLam<\/strong> \u2013 AzhwAr is referring first to the hearts of followers since these are the most important among all the abodes where <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> has taken residence. Thus, AzhwAr says that unlike other divine abodes, emperumAn will give prominence to his followers\u2019 hearts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thanjai<\/strong> \u2013 the divine abode thanjai mAmaNikkOyil, in thanjAvUr.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thalai arangam<\/strong> &#8211; \u00a0the periyakOyil (huge temple) at thiruvarangam, considered to be the first among all divine abodes of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> and one that could be thought of to be on a par with paramapadham. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumangai-azhwar\/\">thirumangai AzhwAr<\/a> has mercifully spoken of this abode in his thirunedundhANdagam 14 as \u201c<em>appAl mudhalAy ninRa aLappariya Aramudhai arangamEya andhaNanai<\/em>\u201d (one who is in paramapadham took residence in thiruvarangam, as the primary cause of existence for both nithyavibhUthi (SrivaikuNtam) and leelA vibhUthi (samsAram) with his wonderful form which will remove all faults); nammAzhwAr too has mercifully mentioned in thiruvAimozhi 7-2-3 as \u201c<em>katkilee &#8230; thitkodi madhiL sUzh thiruvarangaththAy<\/em>\u201d (Oh one who is invisible to our eyes! &#8230;who lies inside thiruvarangam surrounded by huge walls with firm creepers on them).<\/p>\n<p><strong>thaNkAl<\/strong> \u2013 this divine abode of <em>thiruththaNkAl<\/em> is the one which removed <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumangai-azhwar\/\">thirumangai AzhwAr\u2019<\/a>s infatuation. thirumagai AzhwAr has mercifully spoken of this abode in his periya thirumozhi as \u201c<em>thaNkAl thiRalvaliyai<\/em>\u201d (the powerful entity at thiruththaNkAl).<\/p>\n<p><strong>thamar uLLum thaN poruppu<\/strong> &#8211; \u00a0 thiruvEngdamalai (the hills at thiruvEngadam) which is considered by followers as a treasure and which is spoken of by <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> in thiruvAimozhi 9-3-8 as \u201c<em>ninRa vEngadam nINilatthu uLLadhu<\/em>\u201d (the abode thiruvEngadam where <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> stood awaiting his followers is on the expansive earth). This abode is everything to SrIvaishNavas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>vElai<\/strong> \u2013 the abode thiruppARkadal (milky ocean) which is the cause for emperumAn to take residence in all these dhivyadhESams (divine abodes). Since this abode is approached only by entities such as brahmA et al, AzhwAr is not qualifying this abode with any specific adjective and mentions it merely as <em>vElai<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thamar uLLum mAmallai<\/strong> \u2013 the abode\u00a0 thirukkadal mallai [present day mahAbalipuram] where <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> took a lying posture on the ground in order to shower his mercy on his follower puNdarIka muni.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kOval<\/strong> \u2013 the divine place thirukkOvalUr where emperumAn jostled with <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/poigai-azhwar\/\">poygai AzhwAr<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/bhuthaththazhwar\/\">bhUdhaththAzhwAr<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2017\/09\/thiruvaimozhi-5-10-3-peyyum-punguzhal\/\">pEyAzhwAr<\/a>. Isn\u2019t it the place which exulted after making the three of them jostle with each other!<\/p>\n<p><strong>madhiL kudandhai<\/strong> \u2013 the divine abode thirukkudandhai [present day kumbakONam] which is surrounded by well fortified walls. An abode which was very dear to <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumazhisai-azhwar\/\">thirumazhisai AzhwAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>enbarE Evalla endhaikku idam<\/strong> \u2013 people say that these are the abodes which are the dwelling places for chakravarthy thirumagan (son of emperor) [SrI rAma] who is capable of uprooting the enemies. He is the one who destroyed his enemies and made his followers as his servitors.
