AzhwAr responds saying \u201cisn\u2019t that behaviour of staying aloof, only for those with true knowledge [about <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>]? Is it possible for those who have attachment towards emperumAn born out of ignorance, arising from their affection for him, to stay quiet?\u201d. AzhwAr was again asked, \u201cYou are his servitor. Should you not be as per your nature [of being his servitor]? Could you compel him like this?\u201d AzhwAr says \u201ceven though that [of staying quiet] is the rule, when the affection starts growing, is it possible to remain like that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>kANak kazhi kAdhal kaimikkuk kAttinAl<\/em><br \/>\n<em>nANap padum enRAl nANumE pENik<\/em><br \/>\n<em>karumAlaip ponmEni kAttAmun kAttum<\/em><br \/>\n<em>thirumAlai\u00a0 nangaL thiru<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meaning<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>thirumAlai kANak kazhi kAdhal \u2013 the deep desire to worship <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a><br \/>\nkai mikku kAttinAl \u2013 if it starts increasing greatly<br \/>\nnANap padum enRAl \u2013 if one should stay quietly<br \/>\nnANumE \u2013 is it possible to stay quiet?<br \/>\nkarumAlai \u2013 that emperumAn who is of dark complexion<br \/>\npon mEni mun kAttA \u2013 before his beautiful divine [physical] form identifies him<br \/>\nnangaL thiru \u2013 pirAtti (SrI mahAlakshmi) who is our <em>purushakAra bhUthai <\/em>(one who is of recommendatory nature)<br \/>\npENi \u2013 with desire<br \/>\nkAttum \u2013 will identify<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>kANak kazhi kAdhal<\/strong> \u2013 an affection which will not diminish, even if not seen. Alternatively, an affection which goes on increasing as one goes on seeing<\/p>\n<p><strong>kai mikkuk kAttinAl<\/strong> \u2013 various meanings are given \u2013 if it grows abundantly; if it breaks through the shore;\u00a0 if it increases excessively; if I get involved more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>nANappadum enRAl nANumE<\/strong> \u2013 is it possible for one, until <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> himself comes head over heels, to stand in a corner, unobtrusively, shyly? Is it possible to say that we should not fall head over heels towards him? Is it possible to say that you are the lord and I am the servant?<\/p>\n<p><strong>nANumE<\/strong> \u2013 is it possible to hear mere words and stay quietly?<\/p>\n<p>On top of that<\/p>\n<p><strong>karumAlai<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> who has dark complexion, which removes one\u2019s fatigue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ponmEni kAttA mun<\/strong> \u2013 before showing his form which attracts one\u2019s mind<\/p>\n<p><strong>thirumAlai nangaL thiru pENi mun kAttum<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sri-mahalakshmi\/\">thirumagaL<\/a>, who is periya pirAttiyAr (SrI mahAlakshmi), will show us emperumAn, the consort of thirumagaL, desirously. Just as it is mentioned in mUnRAm thiruvandhAdhi 1 \u201c<em>thirukkaNdEn ponmEni kaNdEn<\/em>\u201d, only after having <em>dharSan<\/em> (audience) of pirAtti can one have <em>dharSan<\/em> of emperumAn. If the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">chEthana<\/a> (sentient entity) commits an offence by falling head over heels on them, not considering his faults, due to the radiance of their two being together, pirAtti is there near <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> to say, as said in SrI rAmAyaNam yudhdha kANdam 166-4 \u201c<em>na kaSchith nAparAdhyathi<\/em>\u201d (there is none who has not committed a fault) and to make emperumAn to ignore his offence and unite with him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>nANappadum enRAl nANumE<\/strong> \u2013 for the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">chEthana<\/a>, the involvement [with emperumAn] is there without any shortcoming. emperumAn does not mind the faults in the chEthana. Why then should he feel shy?<\/p>\n<p><strong>nangaL thiru<\/strong> \u2013 this implies that she is the mother for us, to carry out the role of<em> purushkAram <\/em>(recommend us to <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>). Since she is there to carry out that role, the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">chEthana<\/a> does not have to move away from emperumAn thinking that he is not qualified to attain him. Neither does he have to fear that he has committed an offence.
