He prays to emperumAn that as a consequence, emperumAn should carry out the means for AzhwAr attaining him. He says that emperumAn helped him to think of him in this world where it is very rare to think of emperumAn. Now, emperumAn should himself provide the means for AzhwAr to attain him.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>enRu maRandhaRiyEn Ezh piRappum eppozhudhum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ninRu ninaippu ozhiyA nIrmaiyAl venRi<\/em><br \/>\n<em> adal Azhi koNda aRivanE inbak<\/em><br \/>\n<em> kadal Azhi nI aruLik kAN<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meaning<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>venRi \u2013 being always victorious<br \/>\nadal \u2013 being in combat (with enemies)<br \/>\nAzhi \u2013 chakkaram (disc)<br \/>\nkoNda \u2013 having in the hand<br \/>\naRivanE \u2013 Oh the omniscient!<br \/>\nnI \u2013 you, who are like this<br \/>\nEzh piRappum \u2013 in all births<br \/>\neppozhudhum \u2013 in all states<br \/>\nninRu ninaiipu ozhiyA nIrmaiyAl \u2013 never forgetting to hold me in your thoughts<br \/>\nenRum maRandhaRiyEn \u2013 I never forgot you<br \/>\ninbam kadal Azhi \u2013 the huge ocean of happiness<br \/>\naruLik kAN \u2013 you should bestow on me<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>enRu maRandhaRiyEn<\/strong> \u2013 I have never known forgetting you. It is mentioned that all that has been lost would be forgotten if he is seen. AzhwAs was asked whether the reason for this is as mentioned in SAsthram, viz. <em>SravNam<\/em> (listening), <em>mananam<\/em> (thinking), nidhidhyAsanam (meditating) about bhagavath vishayam (matters relating to <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>) followed by <em>upAsanam<\/em> and <em>dhruvAnusmruthi<\/em> (thinking without any break, which is the final state of bhakthi yOgam to worship emperumAn). <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/bhuthaththazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says<\/p>\n<p><strong>EzhpiRappum eppozhudhum ninRu ninaippozhiyA nIrmaiyAl<\/strong> \u2013 in all my states you [emperumAn] had come in front of me and graced me sayhing \u201clet him not forget us anytime and attain us\u201d. Since this thought of yours [about me] never changes, I am having the quality of not forgetting you. SrI bhagavath gIthA 15-15 says \u201c<em>maththasmruthirgyAnampOhanancha<\/em>\u201d(memory, knowledge and forgetfulness all emanate from me). Also, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> has said in <a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/7-26\/\">SrI bhagavath gIthA 7-26<\/a> \u201c<em>vEdhAham samathIthAni varthamAnAni cha arjuna, bhavishyANi cha bhUthAni mAm thu vEdha na kaSchana<\/em>\u201d(only I know those who existed, who are existing and who will exist. Oh arjuna! There is none who knows me truly)! As mentioned in SrIvishNu purANam 1-8-28 \u201c<em>bhOdhOyam vishNuriyam bhudhdhi:<\/em>\u201d (this <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">vishNu<\/a> himself is knowledge. She (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sri-mahalakshmi\/\">mahAlakshmi<\/a>) is intelligence) emperumAn is termed knowledge. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumazhisai-azhwar\/\">thirumazhisai AzhwAr<\/a> has mercifully mentioned in\u00a0 thiruchchandha viruththam 101 \u201c<em>ninna pAdha pangayam nirantharam ninaippadhAga nI ninaikka vENdumE<\/em>\u201c (you have to bless me so that I am able to think of your divine lotus feet all the time); \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> has mercifully mentioned in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/10\/thiruvaimozhi-1-10-10-marappum-gyanamum\/\">thiruvAimozhi 1-10-10<\/a> \u201c<em>maRappaRa ennuLLE manninAn<\/em>\u201d (he stayed put in my heart such that I can never forget him). Even the knowledge for the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">chEthana<\/a> has to be taken from emperumAn\u2019s treasure [of knowledge]. It is not only that knowledge is subservient to <em>dharmam<\/em> (righteousness); AthmA\u2019s <em>dharma bhUtha gyAnam<\/em> (knowledge through senses) is also subservient to emperumAn. When his existence itself is under emperumAn\u2019s control, it goes without saying that his knowledge is also under emperumAn\u2019s control. Thus, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/bhuthaththazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says that he did not attain emperumAn through karma yOgam (path of deeds), gyAna yOgam (path of knowledge) and the resultant bhakthi yOgam (path of devotion) but through emperumAn himself who is sidhdhOpAyam (readily available as means).<\/p>\n<p><strong>venRi adalAzhi koNda aRivanE<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> says \u201cWe have done what we were supposed to do; can you compel us to do more? \u201d. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/bhuthaththazhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> responds \u201cYou have the weapon which removes all hurdles [discus]. More than that, you know about yourself fully and you also know about me. You also know that I cannot attain you through my efforts and that I can attain you only through your grace. Aren\u2019t you the omnipotent and the omniscient? \u201d Hasn\u2019t jithanthE SlOkam 1-6 said about emperumAn\u00a0 \u201c<em>naiva kinchith parOkshanthE prathyakshOsi na kasyachith; naiva kinchidhasidhdhanthE na cha sidhdhOsi kasyachith<\/em>\u201d (there is nothing that you have not seen; you are not seen by anyone; there is\u00a0 nothing that has not been attained by you; you are not attained by anyone)! Just as <em>agyAnam<\/em>\u00a0 (ignorance) and <em>aSakthi<\/em> (powerlessness) are chEthana\u2019s qualities, <em>gyAnam<\/em> (knowledge) and <em>Sakthi<\/em> (power) are emperumAn\u2019s qualities. AzhwAr says that he has not seen any shortcoming in emperumAn\u2019s knowledge and power. Hence<\/p>\n<p><strong>inbak kadal Azhi nI aruLik kAN<\/strong> \u2013 you, who had granted the knowledge without any shortcoming, to attain you, should also enable me to have unlimited happiness out of attaining you, with which I can enjoy you. Just as <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> removed the contraction in knowledge, he should also enable as mentioned in thaiththirIya upanishath Anandhavalli 7 \u201c<em>EshahyEvAnandhayAthi<\/em>\u201d (he \u2013 emperumAn\u00a0 &#8211; himself makes jIvAthmA ecstatic). You should grant me the ecstasy born out of seeing you. When you carry out the difficult task of enabling me to see you, can you not carry out the easier task of granting the consequent happiness? Both the words <em>kadal<\/em>\u00a0 and <em>Azhi<\/em> mean ocean. The combination of these two words <em>kadalAzhi<\/em> thus refers to excessive happiness, Viz.
