He is being called <em>Isvaran<\/em> (one who controls) and is responsible for the function of destruction. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/poigai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says that he got the quality of being <em>Isvaran <\/em>because he is the body (SarIram) of emperumAn and not of his own nature.<\/p>\n<p>Let us look at the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>pon thigazhum mEnip purisadai am puNNiyanum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> ninRu ulgam thAya nedumAlum enRum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> iruvar angaththAl thirivarElum oruvan<\/em><br \/>\n<em> oruvan angaththenRum uLan<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meaning<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>pon thigazhum mEni \u2013 having a form which shines like gold<br \/>\npuri sadai \u2013 platted, matted hair<br \/>\nam puNNiyanum \u2013 rudhra [Siva] who has beautiful puNyam (virtuous deeds)<br \/>\nninRu ulagam thAya nedumALum \u2013 sarvESvaran (lord of all) who stood and measured all the worlds<br \/>\nenRum \u2013 always<br \/>\niruvar angaththAl thirivarElum \u2013 even if they roam around with two [different] forms<br \/>\noruvan \u2013 one among them, Siva,<br \/>\noruvan angaththu \u2013 holding on to the divine body of nArAyaNa<br \/>\nenRum \u2013 at all times<br \/>\nuLan \u2013 will sustain<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>pon thigazhum mEnip puri sadai<\/strong> \u2013 having a physical form shining like gold and having platted, matted hair.<\/p>\n<p><strong>am puNNiyanum<\/strong> \u2013 Siva did penance beautifully and observed means by himself. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> has a comfortable form resembling dark clouds [being magnanimous, ready to pour benefits on everyone]. The golden form of Siva which is like fire, indicates that his form is the exact opposite of emperumAn\u2019s. That Siva is different from emperumAn is brought out by his matted hair, which is the exact opposite of the long crown that emperumAn has. From these two verses, it is clearly mentioned that emperumAn is superior to Siva in every way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>am puNNiyanum<\/strong> \u2013 mahAbhAratham SAnthi parvam 20-12 says \u201c<em>mahAdhEvasarvayagyE mahAthmA hUthvAthmAnam dhEvadhEvO babhUva<\/em>\u201d (rudhra, the mahAthmA (great soul) in the sarvayagya (a kind of ritual) offered himself as the havis (a material which is given as an offering during the ritual) and became a dhEvadhEvan (dhEva among the dhEvas)). Due to the grace of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, rudhra (Siva) who had carried out sinful deeds, reached an exalted state and hence <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/poigai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> calls him as puNNiyan (one who has done virtuous deed).<\/p>\n<p><strong>ninRu ulagam thAya nedumAlum<\/strong> \u2013 emperumAn had carried out many exalted deeds, as per his desires. He is also the sarvESvaran (Lord of all) who kept his divine feet on the heads of Siva and others, without any distinction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>enRum iruval angaththAL thirivarElum<\/strong> \u2013 even if they exist with two different forms always<\/p>\n<p><strong>oruvan oruvan angaththu enRum uLan<\/strong> \u2013 one (Siva) is the body of another (nArAyaNa) and exists. Or, one (Siva) would reside in a part of the divine form of the other (nArAyaNa) and have his existence. Hasn\u2019t <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> mercifully said in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/07\/thiruvaimozhi-1-3-9-valaththanan-thiripuram\/\">thiruvAimozhi 1-3-9<\/a> \u201c<em>valaththanan thirupuram eriththavan<\/em>\u201d (the one on the right side of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s divine form is Siva who burnt the three towns)! Thus, hasn\u2019t nammAzhwAr mercifully said in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2017\/04\/thiruvaimozhi-4-10-3-parandha-dheyvamum\/\">thiruvAimozhi 4-10-3<\/a> \u201c<em>paran thiRam anRip pallulagIr dheyvam maRRillai<\/em>\u201d (there is no other deity without being under the control of emperumAn)!
