Just as it is rare for samsAris to think of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, it is rare for AzhwAr to forget him.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>enakkAvAr Ar oruvarE em perumAn<\/em><br \/>\n<em> thankkAvAn thanE maRRallAl punakkAyAm<\/em><br \/>\n<em> pUmEni kANapp podhiyavizhum pUvaippU<\/em><br \/>\n<em> mAmEni kAttum varam<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>punam \u2013 on the land appropriate to itself<br \/>\nkAyAm pU mEni \u2013 the colour of kAyAm pU (a blue coloured flower)<br \/>\nkANa \u2013 as one keeps looking<br \/>\npodhi avizhum \u2013 blossoming<br \/>\npUvaippU (mEni) \u2013 the colour of pUvaippU (blue coloured flower)<br \/>\nmA mEni \u2013 (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s) great divine form<br \/>\nvaram kAttum \u2013 will display properly<br \/>\nenakku \u2013 to me (who is so fortunate)<br \/>\nAr oruvarE AvAr \u2013 is there anyone who is comparable to me?<br \/>\nemperumAn \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">sarvESvaran<\/a> (supreme being) also<br \/>\nthAne thanakku AvAn \u2013 he can be compared only to himself<br \/>\nmaRRu \u2013 can he become my equal?<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>enakku AvAr Ar oruvarE<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/poigai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> asks \u201cIs there anyone who is comparable to me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But why [do you ask this], is <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> not comparable to you?<\/p>\n<p><strong>emperumAn thankkAvAn thAne maRRu allAl<\/strong> \u2013 emperumAn is comparable only to himself and cannot be compared to me. emperumAn did not become a servitor to someone and get this benefit! Did he not come on his own, without having to be a servitor to someone! Does he have any glory as I do, about having received someone\u2019s grace? When asked \u201cwhy are you talking as if you do not have any shortcoming? Have you seen emperumAn well? You still have a grievance that you have not seen him yet!\u201d. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/poigai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> responds that in order to get rid of his grievance of not having seen emperumAn, he has seen those entities which are like him. I am on the same land where there are objects which look like him; there is a difference of just a foot between him and me, says the AzhwAr.<\/p>\n<p><strong>punam kAyam pU mEni<\/strong> \u2013 the colour of kAyAm pU (a blue coloured flower) which is fresh as it is on the land which is appropriate for it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kANap podhi avizhum pUvaip pU<\/strong> \u2013 the colour of <em>pUvaip pU<\/em> (another blue coloured flower) which blossoms as it is being looked at.<\/p>\n<p>These<\/p>\n<p><strong>mAmEni kAttum varam<\/strong> \u2013 if the word <em>varam<\/em> is taken to mean \u201c<em>vRiyatha ithi varam<\/em>\u201d &#8211; \u2018that which is wished for\u2019, the meaning for this verse will be: show the divine form of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> who is wished for. If the word is taken to mean <em>varishtam<\/em> \u2013 beautiful, the meaning for the verse will be: show the divine form of emperumAn beautifully.
