They started instructing AzhwAr \u201cAzhwIr! Do not let go of emperumAn!\u201d. In the earlier pAsuram, AzhwAr stood in the position of <em>guru<\/em> (teacher) and instructed his sensory perceptions. In this pAsuram, his sensory perceptions instructed him on the same matter, in the position of <em>guru<\/em>. Thus the <em>guru-Sishya<\/em> (teacher-student) order has got reversed in this pAsuram.<\/p>\n<p>Let us enjoy the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>anbAzhiyAnai aNugennum nA avanthan<\/em><br \/>\n<em> paNbAzhith thOL paravi Eththennum munbUzhi<\/em><br \/>\n<em> kANAnaik kAn ennum kaN sevi kEL ennum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> pUNAram pUNdAn pugazh<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>anbu \u2013 the mind which is full of love<br \/>\nAzhiyAnai aNugu ennum \u2013 will instruct to approach chakrapANi (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, who has the divine disc in his hand)<br \/>\nnA \u2013 tongue<br \/>\navan than paNbu Azhi thOL paravi Eththennum \u2013 will instruct to worship his divine shoulders which are like beautiful ocean.<br \/>\nmunbu Uzhi kANAnai kAN ennum kaN \u2013 eyes will instruct to worship emperumAn who does not see the time of eons<br \/>\nsevi \u2013 the ears<br \/>\npUN Aram pUNdAn pugazh kEL ennum \u2013 will instruct to hear the praise of emperumAn who has donned the decorative pearl necklace.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>anbu AzhiyAnai aNugu ennum<\/strong> \u2013 mind is such that it is an embodiment of affection which is as deep as the ocean. Thus, instead of calling it as mind, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/poigai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> is referring to it as <em>anbu<\/em> which means affection. Such a mind is instructing AzhwAr to approach and attain <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>. In the earlier pAsuram, AzhwAr instructed his heart [the terms heart and mind are interchangeably used in all these pAsurams] \u201c<em>adalAzhi koNdAn mAttu anbu vidal<\/em>\u201d (Oh dear heart! Do not let go of the affection towards emperumAn). Looking at AzhwAr, his heart tells him \u201cdo not worry about me. Please do not let go of emperumAn\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AzhiyAn<\/strong> \u2013 just as one is engrossed with the bracelets worn by princes on their shoulders and forearms, the heart is engrossed with the beauty of the <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> who is having the divine disc on his hand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>nA avanthan paNbu Azhith thOL paravi Eththu ennum<\/strong> \u2013 my tongue will instruct me to worship, even if in an disorderly way, his simplicity and strong shoulders.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AzhiththOL <\/strong>\u2013 For the word <em>Azhi i<\/em>nstead of the meaning \u201cstrong\u201d, if one were to consider the meaning \u201cocean\u201d, we can say that his divine shoulders are like the beautiful ocean.<\/p>\n<p><strong>munbu Uzhi kANAnaik kAN ennum kaN<\/strong> \u2013 eyes will instruct me to worship <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> who has not seen the times of eons. My eyes do not know whether that is possible or not.<\/p>\n<p><strong>munbu Uzhik kANAn<\/strong> \u2013 Are we not those who have committed faults? We do not have to fear as how we will attain emperumAn. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/poigai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> says that emperumAn will forget the times when we carried out such offences. If he thinks of those times, wouldn\u2019t he be reminded of our offences too? Hence, along with our faults, he forgets the times too, when we committed such faults. Didn\u2019t <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> mercifully say in his thiruvAimozhi 2-7-3 \u201c<em>mAdhavan enRadhE koNdu ennai ini ippAl pattadhu yAdhavangaLum sErkodEn enRu<\/em>\u201d (Since I merely said <em>mAdhava<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> vowed that he will not allow any difficulties to come to me for all times hereafter)! We would know whether he is looking at us with anger or with affection in his eyes when he sees us.
