I knew that life in this world is susceptible to danger and that only if I hold on to him could I extricate myself from it\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>ayal ninRa valvinaiyai anjinEn anji<\/em><br \/>\n<em> uya nin thiruvadiyE sErvAn naya ninRa<\/em><br \/>\n<em> nanmAlai koNdu namO nAranA ennum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> sonmAlai kaRREn thozhudhu<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>ayal ninRa \u2013 standing close (to me)<br \/>\nval vinaiyai \u2013 looking at the extremely powerful sins<br \/>\nanjinEn \u2013 I was scared<br \/>\nanji \u2013 being afraid (like this)<br \/>\nuya \u2013 to get emancipated (after ridding of the sins)<br \/>\nnin \u2013 your<br \/>\nthiruvadiyE sErvAn \u2013 in order to attain divine feet<br \/>\nnayam ninRa \u2013 being in the form of SAsthras (sacred texts)<br \/>\nnal mAlai koNdu \u2013 with beautiful garland<br \/>\nthozhudhu \u2013 worshipped<br \/>\nnamO nAranA ennum \u2013\u00a0 thirumanthram with eight syllables<br \/>\nsolmAlai \u2013 garland of words<br \/>\nkaRRen \u2013 I practised.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>ayal ninRa valvinaiyai<\/strong> <strong>anjinEn <\/strong>\u2013 I was scared of my sins which kept troubling me, without leaving me, entering wherever I entered and constricting me (this is considering the meaning for the term <em>ayal ninRa<\/em> to be \u2018nearby\u2019). Alternative explanation \u2013 I was scared as to what would I do if the sins, which had left me on my gaining knowledge about emperumAn, would come back (this is considering the meaning for the term <em>ayal ninRa<\/em> to be \u2018at a distance\u2019).<\/p>\n<p><strong>anji uya nin thiruadiyE sErvAn<\/strong> \u2013 being scared and in order to get emancipated from those sins, I recited your divine names in order to attain your divine feet, which\u00a0 will not give any place for fear. It is not that I was capable of reciting your divine names. Due to fear\u00a0 and incapacity, in order to sustain myself I recited something.<\/p>\n<p><strong>nayam ninRa<\/strong> \u2013 being very simple to recite. Alternatively, being an explanation for<em> thirumanthram <\/em>(the eight syllable phrase based on the name nArAyaNa).<\/p>\n<p><strong>namO nArANA ennum sol mAlai kaRREn<\/strong> \u2013 I learnt about <em>thirumanthram<\/em> which reveals about him from this <em>prabandham<\/em> (<em>mudhal thiruvandhAdhi<\/em>, a collection of divine verses) which is an explanation for <em>thirumanthram<\/em> (at the beginning of this <em>prabandham<\/em>, AzhwAr had mercifully used the term\u00a0 \u201c<em>sol mAlai sUttinEn<\/em>\u201d (I adorned him with a garland of verses) in the very first pAsuram.
