His nature is such that in order to make the people of this realm also to be his servitors and get them to carry out services like AdhiSEshan does, he sets aside his greatness and comes to lower levels.<\/p>\n<p>As per thamizh grammar, this poem falls under the category of <em>niral nirai aNi<\/em> in which each of the terms in the first part of the poem corresponds to each of the terms in the second part in the same order that the terms appear.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>aravam adal vEzham An kurundham puL vAy<\/em><br \/>\n<em> kuravai kuda mulai maRkunRam karavinRi<\/em><br \/>\n<em> vittiRuththu mEyththosiththu kIndu kOththAdi uNdu<\/em><br \/>\n<em> atteduththa sem kaN avan<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>sem kaN avan \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> with reddish lotus like eyes<br \/>\nkaravu inRi \u2013 without hiding<br \/>\naravam vittu \u2013 driving away the snake kALiyan [from the river yamunA]<br \/>\nadal vEzham iRuththu \u2013 breaking the tusk of the warring elephant kuvalayApIdam<br \/>\nAn mEyththu \u2013 grazing cows<br \/>\nkurundham osiththu \u2013 uprooting the tree <em>kurundham<\/em> (a flower bearing tree) in which a demon had entered<br \/>\npuL vAy kIndu \u2013 tearing the beak of a crane in which a demon had entered<br \/>\nkuravai kOththu \u2013 carrying out rAsakrIdai with cowherd girls [rAsakrIdai is a game in which two persons grip their hands in a crossed way, together, and go in a circular motion, with their planted feet acting together as the centre]<br \/>\nkudam Adi \u2013 dancing with pots<br \/>\nmulai uNdu \u2013 suckling (pUthanA\u2019s) milk (along with her life)<br \/>\nmal attu \u2013 killing wrestlers (chANura and mushtika)<br \/>\nkunRam eduththa \u2013 lifting (gOvardhana) hill<\/p>\n<p>(how wonderful were his activities!)<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>aravu &#8230;..<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> who has eyes similar to reddish lotus, engaged in many activities when he took his incarnation as krishNa.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/poigai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> describes some of those activities in this pAsuram. In the first two lines of the pAsuram are the subjects <em>aravam, adal vEzham, An, kurundham, puL vAy, kuravai, kudam, mulai, mal<\/em> and <em>kunRam<\/em> and in the last two lines are the activities associated with these subjects in the same order \u2013<em> vittu, iRuththu, mEyththu, osiththu,kINdu, kOththu, Adi, uNdu, attu <\/em>and <em>eduththa<\/em>. The pairs will thus be<\/p>\n<p><strong>aravam vittu<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; driving away the snake kALiyan and not killing him as requested for, by his wives<\/p>\n<p><strong>adal vEzham iRuththu<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; when kamsan set his royal elephant kuvalayApIdam on krishNa to kill him, krishNa broke off its tusks and killed it<\/p>\n<p><strong>An mEyththu<\/strong> \u2013 though he is <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, he did not consider his greatness but came down as a cowherd boy and took the cattle for grazing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kurundham osiththu<\/strong> \u2013 when a demon entered a tree <em>kurundham<\/em> in order to kill krishNa, krishNa uprooted the tree, killing the demon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>puL vAy kINdu<\/strong> \u2013 kamsan asked his friend bakAsuran, a demon, to take the form of a bird [crane] to kill krishNa. But, krishNa, knowing the disguise of the demon, killed the bird by tearing its beak.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kuravai kOththu <\/strong>\u2013 he engaged in dancing with the cowherd girls in a type of dance called rAsakrIdai (explained above)<\/p>\n<p><strong>kudam Adi<\/strong> \u2013 dancing with pots [in the middle of the road]<\/p>\n<p><strong>mulai uNdu<\/strong> \u2013 kamsan first set off pUthana, his friend, to kill infant krishNa. She took the form of yaSOdhA, krishNa\u2019s mother and offered her poisoned milk to him, and he drank both her milk and her life, thus killing her.<\/p>\n<p><strong>mal attu<\/strong> \u2013 kamsan, after kuvalayApIdam was killed, set off his champion wrestlers against krishNa. But both chANura and mushtika, the wrestlers, were killed by krishNa in the wrestling match.<\/p>\n<p><strong>kunRam eduththu<\/strong> \u2013 indhra, the deity of celestial persons, was denied food by the people of gOkulam. In anger, he rained hailstorm on gOkulam. krishNa lifted gOvardhanam, a hill around gOkulam and saved the herds-people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>karavinRi vittu<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> did not hide anything\u00a0 while engaging in the above mentioned acts. There are two meanings given for <em>karavinRi<\/em> \u2013 allowing someone to escape without killing him, and acting honestly without anything deceitful.<\/p>\n<p>emperumAn takes all these efforts after leaving the comfortable mattress of <em>thiruvanthAzhwAn<\/em> (AdhiSEshan) and his services.
