Once we understand our connection with <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, the heart will understand him on its own and hold on to him. He says that for those who have faultless devotion towards him, it is impossible to wait patiently for him to come to them.<\/p>\n<p>Let us go through the pAsuram and its meanings:<\/p>\n<p><em>theLidhAga uLLaththaich chenniReei gyAnath<\/em><br \/>\n<em> theLidhAga nanguNarvAr sindhai eLidhAgath<\/em><br \/>\n<em> thAy nAdu kanRE pOl thaNduzhAyAn adikkE<\/em><br \/>\n<em> pOy nAdikkoLLum purindhu<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>theLidhAga \u2013 to ensure\u00a0 that bewilderment is removed<br \/>\nsem niReei \u2013 establishing firmly<br \/>\ngyAnaththu \u2013 through knowledge<br \/>\neLidhAga \u2013 with ease<br \/>\nnangu uNarvAr \u2013 knowing well<br \/>\nsindhai \u2013 [their] minds<br \/>\nthAy nAdu \u2013 [among the (herd of) cattle] attaining its mother<br \/>\nkanRE pOl \u2013 like the calf<br \/>\nthaN thuzhAyAn adikkE \u2013 the divine feet of sarvESvaran (supreme entity) who adorns a cool thuLasi garland<br \/>\npurindhu \u2013 with liking<br \/>\npOy \u2013 seeking<br \/>\nnAdik koLLum \u2013 will join together<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>theLidhAga uLLaththaich chennireei<\/strong> \u2013 establishing the heart such that it attains clarity. Removing the bewilderment in worldly matters and establishing the heart in the one entity (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>) that is of importance to it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>sem nireei<\/strong> \u2013 instead of controlling the sensory perceptions by trying to win over them, involving the sensory perceptions in matters related to <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> and win them over. In other words making the heart to have the ability to distinguish [between good and bad], to be free from sensual pursuits [desires for worldly matters] and to be humble.<\/p>\n<p><strong>gyAnaththeLidhAga nangu uNarvAr sindhai<\/strong> \u2013 the knowledge that is born in such a purified heart is bhakthi (devotion), says <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/poigai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a>. With the aid of that bhakthi, people will be able to feel him clearly through the methods ordained in SAsthras (sacred texts) \u2013 through <em>Sravanam<\/em> (hearing about <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>) <em>mananam <\/em>(thinking about him) and <em>nidhidhyAsanam<\/em> (meditating continuously about him). The heart of such a person would be able to see him clearly as mentioned in muNdaka upanishath 2-2-9 \u201c<em>thasmin dhrushtE parAvarE<\/em>\u201d (if that supreme entity who is above everyone else is seen).<\/p>\n<p><strong>theLidhAga<\/strong> \u2013 to know clearly that \u201che is the Lord and I am his servitor\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>gyAnaththu eLidhAga<\/strong> \u2013 once the heart realises this, it will be able to hold on to <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> just as it is holding on to all the worldly matters now.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thAy nAdu kanRE pOl<\/strong> \u2013 if a calf is let out towards a herd of cattle, it will avoid all other cows, identify where its mother is and go towards it.\u00a0 In the same way, the heart will also avoid all other entities who appear superficially to be the ones to be held on to and hold on only to emperumAn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>thaN thuzhAyAn<\/strong> \u2013 he is the one who is beautiful to look at with his thuLasi garland. Isn\u2019t he the one who is like a mother to everyone!<\/p>\n<p><strong>adikkE<\/strong> \u2013 just as the calf forgets all other parts of the cow\u2019s body and reaches for the udder [which sustains it], the heart will also forget all other divine limbs of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s divine form and hold on only to his divine feet. It will hold on to the divine feet of the only entity who is fit to be attained.<\/p>\n<p><strong>purindhu<\/strong> &#8211; this means &#8220;with desire&#8221;.
