Alternatively, it can be said that AzhwAr tells his heart \u201ceven though emperumAn is great, ignoring that, he will carry out tasks for his followers even if he has to change himself\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Let us enjoy the pAsuram and its meanings.<\/p>\n<p><em>ninRu nilam angai nIrERRu mUvadiyAl<\/em><br \/>\n<em> senRu thisai aLandha sengaNmARku enRum<\/em><br \/>\n<em> padai Azhi puLLUrdhi pAmbaNaiyAn pAdham<\/em><br \/>\n<em> adaiyAzhi nenjE aRi<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Word by Word Meanings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ninRu \u2013 standing (near mahAbali)<br \/>\nnilam \u2013 earth<br \/>\nam kai \u2013 with beautiful hand<br \/>\nnIr ERRu \u2013 taking alms<br \/>\nmU adiyAl \u2013 with three steps<br \/>\nsenRu thisai aLandha \u2013 measuring, while walking in all directions<br \/>\nsem kaN mARku \u2013 the supreme entity with reddish eyes<br \/>\nenRum \u2013 at all times<br \/>\npadai \u2013 weapon<br \/>\nAzhi \u2013 chakkaram (divine disc, sudharSan)<br \/>\npuL \u2013 garudAzhwAn<br \/>\nUrdhi \u2013 vehicle<br \/>\nAzhi nenjE \u2013 Oh profound heart!<br \/>\naRi \u2013 listen (to this)<br \/>\npAmbu aNaiyAn \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> who has thivananthAzhwAn (AdhiSEsha) as his mattress<br \/>\npAdham \u2013 divine feet<br \/>\nadai \u2013 attain<\/p>\n<p><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>senRu ninRu<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> walked up to the yAgasAlai (the place where religious rites are conducted) of mahAbali and stood in front of the King, displaying clearly his intent of taking alms. His reaching mahAbali\u2019s place and standing in front of mahAbali are attracting <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/poigai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ninRu<\/strong> \u2013 it appears as if <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is telling mahAbali that\u00a0 he will not leave until he obtained what he set out for<\/p>\n<p><strong>nilam am kai nIrERRu<\/strong> \u2013 taking the earth, after wetting his hands with water [given by mahAbali as a traditional system of keeping one\u2019s oath]. emperumAn\u2019s hands know only to give to others; as a result they have grown, by giving constantly. For perhaps the first time, he is taking something. While sIthAppirAtti was always his (mahAlakshmi), <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> (as SrI rAma) took her when janaka maharAjan offered him her hand, after king janaka referred to her as \u201cmy sIthA\u201d. In the same way, emperumAn took the worlds, which were always his, when offered by King mahAbali.<\/p>\n<p><strong>mUvadiyAl thisai aLandha<\/strong> \u2013 he measured all the directions with his three steps. Alternatively, we can consider this as \u201cin every direction, he measured\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>sengaN mARku<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s eyes became reddish after receiving the gift [from mahAbali], out of happiness. He was happy that he obtained what could not be obtained at all! Is it required of him to display his happiness after obtaining what was always his, from mahAbali? Since in the earlier pAsuram (20) <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/poigai-azhwar\/\">AzhwAr<\/a> had referred to emperumAn measuring the worlds, his thoughts follow him from that pAsuram and he speaks mercifully of the same matter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>enRum padai Azhi<\/strong> \u2013 wasn\u2019t it the person who has everything with him, who went to mahAbali and asked for alms! <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> says in periya thiruvandhAdhi 87 \u201c<em>eppOdhum kai kazhaLa nEmiyAn<\/em>\u201d (one who always has chakrAyudham (disc as weapon) in his hand). He always has garudan as his vehicle. He always has AdhiSEsha as his mattress. (The opinion here is that since he holds one devotee on his hand, one as his vehicle and one as his bed, it is natural that mingling with his followers is his nature). Only the one who is capable of holding the disc on his hand without slipping, one who is capable of riding periya thiruvadi (garudan) astride and who is capable of lying on the lap of AdhiSEsha can be the supreme entity!<\/p>\n<p><strong>pAdham adai \u00a0Azhi nenjE<\/strong> \u2013 to get the divine feet of such a supreme entity, give yourself unto him; do not be like mahAbali who gave a little bit of earth and moved aside.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Azhi nenjE<\/strong> \u2013 Oh profound heart! Aren\u2019t you capable of teaching me too! Do I need to teach you this?
