He\u00a0 has\u00a0 written\u00a0 four\u00a0 prabandhams namely,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>thiruviruththam<\/li>\n<li>thiruvAsiriyam<\/li>\n<li>periya thiruvandhAdhi and<\/li>\n<li>thiruvAimozhi<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These\u00a0 four prabandhams are considered to be equivalent to four vEdhams in thamizh<br \/>\nlanguage. Of\u00a0 them thiruvAsiriyam is the yajur vEdham equiavalent. This is the 6th prabandham<br \/>\nin the iyaRpA.<\/p>\n<p>In the first prabandham, AzhwAr requested <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a> to cut his dhEha sambandham (bodily<br \/>\nconnection) which is an obstacle to bhagavath anubhavam (enjoying <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a>). But<br \/>\nemperumAn&#8217;s wish\u00a0 was\u00a0 different. He wanted AzhwAr to stay in this world for some more time<br \/>\nto\u00a0 correct\u00a0 the\u00a0 people and show them the right path to mOksha (liberation). Therefore when<br \/>\nAzhwAr prayed <em>\u2018poynninRa gyAnamum pollA ozhukkum azhukkudambum inninRa neermai<br \/>\niniyAmuRAmai\u2019 <\/em>(I cannot tolerate the existence in this inferior world with this false knowledge, bad conduct and dirty body<em>).<\/em> He thought\u00a0 \u2018<em>ivvAzhwAr indha samsAraththai vittu vilagi oru<\/em><br \/>\n<em> nalamandhamilladhOr\u00a0\u00a0 nAttilE\u00a0\u00a0 pOychchEravENumenRu pArippadhu nammudaiya\u00a0 guNangaLai anubhavippadharkAgavE anRi vEronRukkAhavanrE; andha guNAnubhavaththai ivarkku nAm ivvidaththilEyE vAykkachcheyvOm; ingE\u00a0 thAnE\u00a0 ivar\u00a0 guNAnubhavam paNNik kaLiththArAy, avvanubhavam uLLadangAmal puRa veLLamittu prabhandhangaLAgap perugi lOkOpakAramum seydhAnAgattum<\/em>\u2019 (This AzhwAr wants to come to paramapadham since he desires to enjoy my qualities. He can experience them in this world itself which serves\u00a0 two\u00a0 purposes &#8211; 1) the enjoyment\u00a0 of my qualities and 2) to correct the samsAris (worldly people). The\u00a0 second\u00a0 one\u00a0 is\u00a0 achieved through\u00a0 his\u00a0 prabandhams which are the outpourings of his experiences which will benefit the entire world). Hence, emperumAn revealed his rUpa, guNa, vibhUthi etc. to AzhwAr. AzhwAr&#8217;s such experiences and expressions are these prabandhams.<\/p>\n<p>This prabandham thiruvAsiriyam is in the prosody called AsiriyappA. Hence it is called<br \/>\nthiruvAsiriyam. The AsiriyappA is of 4 types\u2014nErisai AsiriyappA, nilamaNdila AsiriyappA etc.<br \/>\npASurams 1, 2, 3, 6 are in nErisai AsirappA and the rest (4, 5, 7) are in nilamaNdila AsiriyappA.<br \/>\nThe style is andhAdhi (where ending of one pAsuram is connected to the beginning of the next pAsuram).<\/p>\n<p>AzhwAr enjoys <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>&#8216;s\u00a0kalyANa guNams in these 7 pAsurams.<\/p>\n<p>The brief translation proceeds with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the First pAsuram, he enjoys emperumAn&#8217;s thirumEni (dhivya mangaLa vigraham, divine form).<\/li>\n<li>In the second, one should desire to be adorn with the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhAgavath<\/a> vishayam which is the<br \/>\nswaroopam like the one (vivEki, wise) who wear and adorn this empermAn&#8217;s divine lotus feet. AzhwAr desires to have nithya sambandham (eternal relationship) with bhAgavathas.<\/li>\n<li>In the third, he wants to be \u201c<em>adiyArku adiyAn<\/em>\u201d (servant to the bhAgavathas who are the servant of you, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">emperumAn<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>In the fourth he approaches the bhAgavathas who always sing mangaLAsAsanam, as in<em> \u2018pallANDu pallANDu pallAyiraththANdu\u201c (long live, long live, for many thousands of years)<\/em> and to follow their footsteps and desire to engage in kainkaryam only.<\/li>\n<li>In the fifth, he experiences emperumAn&#8217;s saulabhyam (easy approachability, being very simple) and sauSeelya athiSayam (the abundance of his quality of mixing freely with others ignoring his greatness and the lowliness of others) of thrivikrama avathAram.<\/li>\n<li>In the sixth, He cries out loud to the people that they were worshipping\u00a0 kshudhra dhEvathAs (inferior gods) for inferior benefits.<\/li>\n<li>In the seventh, he feels happy that <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> has made his mind to worship emperumAn unlike others who run behind and worship other dhEvathAs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/periyavachan-pillai.jpg\">periyavAchchAn piLLai<\/a> has written a beautiful commentary for this prabandham. We will enjoy<br \/>\nthe English translation of the same here. This commentary is further elaborately explained<br \/>\nby kAnchIpuram prathivAdhi bhayankaram aNNangarAcharyar swamy (in his dhivyArtha dhIpikai) and by puththur krishNamAchAryar swamy.
