previous (<em>kaiyil kaniyenna<\/em>)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Introduction (given by <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\"><strong>maNavALa mAmunigaL<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Whereas everyone has determined with finality that samsAram is to be shunned and paramapadham is to be wished for, and only that paramapdham is the place to be in, you are considering paramapadham and samsAram as equals \u2013 what is it that you have determined to be the place to be in? amudhanAr divines his reply.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Introduction (given by <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/08\/pillai-lokam-jiyar\/\"><strong>piLLailOkam jIyar<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the previous pAsuram \u2013 Reflecting on the help of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> to him, calling him as \u2018Oh the most generous emperumAnAr!\u2019, and saying to him, \u2018Whether your highness show the easy to be reached krishNan like a fruit in the palm of the hand,\u00a0 or give paramapadham where He resides, or give this <em>leelA vibhUthi <\/em>(earth, etc) which is His abode for amusement, I do not wish for any of them than the experience of divine auspicious body of your highness; so if you grace me to have this experience to be had at all times, then I would be able to sustain; otherwise, like fish out of water, I would not be able to sustain\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Those who heard that ask, \u201cAs said in \u2018<em>jani mrudhi dhuritha nidhau mEjagathi jihAsAnthara jrumbhithA bhavathA \u2013 bhavathu cha na bhaSi parasmin niravadhikAnandha nirbharE lipsA\u2019<\/em> (~birth, and death in this world is the cycle in which I shall get disinterested in this world; I shall get happy about boundless joy that is paramapadham), whereas everyone in the world has determined with finality that samsAram is to be shunned and paramapadham is to be wished for, and so are wishing to go there, you talked of these two as equals; now, what is it that you have determined to be the place to live?\u201d,<\/p>\n<p>amudhanAr replies \u2013 The \u2018<em>kalakkamillA nal thava munivar<\/em> [thiruvAimozhi \u2013 8.3.10]<em>\u2019 <\/em>(not having the perturbances of samsAram, such sages like <em>sanakar<\/em>) who get immersed in the qualities of sarvESvaran who is in sleeping position in divine milky ocean, are liking the distinguished knowledge;\u00a0 emperumAnAr having such knowledge;<\/p>\n<p>The most knowledgeable followers of vEdhas, at all times, as said in \u2018<em>thozhudhu muppOdhum<\/em> [nAchchiyAr thirumozhi \u2013 1.9]\u2019 (worship you at all times), prostrate on the divine feet of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>,\u00a0 and the place of presence of those who with the thought of <em>\u2018<\/em>\u2018<em>thEvu maRRaRiyEn<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/01\/kanninun-chiru-thambu-2-navinal\/\">kaNNinuN chiruth thAmbu \u2013 2<\/a>]\u2019 (~ do not know any other god) are immersed in the experience of such emperumAnAr only, is the place to be in for me their servant;<\/p>\n<p>Thus amudhanAr ascertains about the destiny he talked about in earlier pAsuram (only want experience of enjoyment of qualities of your divine body).<\/p>\n<p><em>sezhum thiraip pARkadal kaN thuyil mAyan thiruvadikkeezh<\/em><br \/>\n<em>vizhundhiruppAr nenjil mEvu nal gyAni nal vEdhiyargaL <\/em><br \/>\n<em>thozhum thiruppAdhan irAmAnusanaith thozhum periyOr<\/em><br \/>\n<em>ezhundhu iraiththu Adum idam adiyEnukku iruppidamE<\/em>\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0 105<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/yourlisten.com\/sarathy.thothathri\/ramanusa-nurranthadhi-105\">Listen<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"\/\/yourlisten.com\/embed\/html5?17657854\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Word by word meaning (given by <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\"><strong>maNavALa mAmunigaL<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>pARkadal \u2013 <\/em>In the divine milky ocean<br \/>\n<em>thirai \u2013 <\/em>having waves that are<br \/>\n<em>sezhum \u2013 <\/em>beautiful,<br \/>\nas said in \u2018<em>kadal Odham kAl alaippak kaN vaLarum<\/em> [mudhal thiruvanthAdhi &#8211; 16]\u2019 (~with waves of ocean gently touching His divine feet, He sleeps), like how one would get to sleep as someone pats the thighs, those waves comfortably shake those divine feet,<br \/>\n<em>kaN thuyil \u2013 \u00a0<\/em>He is in sleeping position,<br \/>\n<em>mAyan \u2013 <\/em>that is, sarvESvaran having the wonder of <em>\u2018uRanguvAn pOl yOgu sey<\/em> [thiruvAimozhi \u2013 5.4.1]\u2019 (~In deep meditation, as if in sleep);<br \/>\nimmersed in His qualities, saying \u2018<em>jithanthE\u2019<\/em> (we are lost (to the beauty of your eyes)),<br \/>\n<em>thiruvadik keezh vizhundhiruppAr \u2013 <\/em>and falling on His divine feet,\u00a0 yet not moved by this nature (of emperumAn in milky ocean), such \u2018<em>kalakkam illA nal thava munivar<\/em> [thiruvAimozhi \u2013 8.3.10]\u2019 (not having the perturbances of samsAram, such sages like <em>sanakar<\/em>), (even they) would enjoy this (glorious knowledge) at all times thinking \u2018what a great knowledge this is!\u2019\u00a0 (knowledge about <em>charama parvam \u2013<\/em> knowledge related to devotion to AchAryan), and so,<br \/>\n<em>mEvum \u2013 <\/em>they liked (such knowledge)<br \/>\n<em>nenjil \u2013 <\/em>in their mind;\u00a0 (it is Not saying:\u00a0 they liked the <em>one<\/em> having that knowledge).<br \/>\n<em>gyAni \u2013 <\/em>he (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>) is having such knowledge<br \/>\n<em>nal \u2013 <\/em>that is distinguished;<br \/>\n<em>nal vEdhiyargaL \u2013 <\/em>Ones who are the most knowledgeable followers of vEdhas &#8211;<br \/>\n<em>thozhum &#8211; <\/em>\u00a0would offer reverence, follow in the path, etc.,<br \/>\n<em>thiruppAdham \u2013 <\/em>of the divine feet of emperumAnAr; he having such divine feet;<br \/>\n<em>irAmAnusanai \u2013 <\/em>such emperumAnAr;<br \/>\nas said in \u2018<em>nithyAnjali putAhrushtA\u2019<\/em> (always with folded palms and having happiness),<br \/>\n<em>periyOr \u2013 <\/em>those having the glory<br \/>\n<em>thozhum \u2013 <\/em>of experiencing such emperumAnAr at all times,<br \/>\nand due to the intensity instigated by that experience, their body not staying in one place,<br \/>\n<em>ezhundhu \u2013 <\/em>so they get excited<br \/>\n<em>iraiththu \u2013 <\/em>bustle, making sounds like that of waves,<br \/>\n<em>Adum idam \u2013 <\/em>and dance; place of theirs,<br \/>\n<em>iruppidam \u2013 <\/em>is the place of abode<br \/>\n<em>adiyEnukku \u2013 <\/em>for me, their servant.<br \/>\n<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>sezhum \u2013 <\/em>beauty; also greatness.<\/p>\n<p>Some also recite as \u2018<em>pARkadal paLLi koLL<u>um<\/u> mAyan\u2019<\/em>\u00a0 (same meaning).<\/p>\n<p><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>sezhum thiraip pARkadal kaN thuyil mAyan \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>Saying <strong><em>sezhum<\/em> <\/strong>can be adjective for the waves , or for the ocean;\u00a0 when it is adjective for waves, <strong><em>sezhum<\/em> \u2013 <\/strong>being beautiful, like the excitation of milk, the waves coming one on top of the other, such beauty of the whole scene;<\/p>\n<p>when it is adjective for the ocean, <strong><em>sezhum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>having the greatness, as said in \u2018<em>naLi neerk kadalaip padaiththu than thALum thOLum mudigaLum saman ilAdha pala parappi<\/em> [thiruvAimozhi &#8211; 8.10.8]\u2019 (made the ocean of cool water, he spread his many matchless divine feet and divine shoulders and divine heads on it), ocean that is spacious for sarvESvaran to comfortably keep and move about his left and right arms, and be in sleeping position;<\/p>\n<p>Or,<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>sezhum<\/em> <\/strong>can be adjective for \u2018<strong><em>mAyan\u2019 \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>In such a divine milky ocean, as said by \u2018<em>kadal Odham kAl alaippak kaN vaLarum<\/em> [mudhal thiruvanthAdhi &#8211; 16]\u2019 (~with waves of ocean gently touching His divine feet, He sleeps), like how one would get to sleep as someone pats the thighs, those waves comfortably shake those divine feet, like sleeping comfortably in a swing, He is present in reclining position, and is as <em>\u2018uRanguvAn pOl yOgu sey<\/em> [thiruvAimozhi \u2013 5.4.1]\u2019 (~In deep meditation, as if in sleep), \u00a0sarvESvaran having such wonder.<\/p>\n<p>That is, as said in \u2018<em>Esha nArAyaNa SrImAn ksheerArNava nikEthana<\/em><em>:\u2019<\/em> (~ SrIman nArAyaNan descended from the milky ocean), and in \u2018<em>veLLaththu aravil thuyil amarndha viththinai<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2014\/12\/thiruppavai-06-pullum-silambina-kan\/\">thiruppAvai &#8211; 6<\/a>]\u2019, as <em>anantha avathAra gandham<\/em> (as the root of all His countless incarnations), sarvESvaran who is in reclining position in the divine milky ocean.<\/p>\n<p>Some also recite as \u2018sezhum thiraip pAR kadal <u>paLLi koL<\/u> mAyan\u2019 (similar meaning).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>thiruvadikkeezh vizhundhiruppAr &#8211; <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0As said in \u2018<em>paR kadalAn pAdham vazhuvA vagai ninaindhu<\/em> [nAnmugan thiruvanthAdhi &#8211; 89]\u2019 (meditating without any blemishes, on the divine feet of the One in milky ocean), enjoying the auspicious qualities of such sarvESvaran, and immersed in it, as said in <em>\u2018un adik keezh amarndhu pukundhEnE<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 6.10.10]\u2019 (~am being under your divine feet), under His divine feet, they stay put without separation, like shadow and lines of feet; by such \u2018<em>kalakkamillA nal thava munivar<\/em> [thiruvAimozhi \u2013 8.3.10]<em>\u2019 <\/em>(not having the perturbances of samsAram, such sages like <em>sanakar<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>nenjil mEvum nal gyAni \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>Since they praise often as \u2018Oh what a glory of knowledge this is (about <em>charma parvam<\/em>)!\u2019;<\/p>\n<p>and \u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> is) having such distinguished knowledge, the knowledge which is in their minds;\u00a0 they praise the knowledge about <em>charama parvam <\/em>(related to devotion to AchAryan).<\/p>\n<p><em>mEvu \u2013 <\/em>liking (the knowledge about <em>charama parvam).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>nal vEdhiyargaL \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>The most knowledgeable followers of vEdhas &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>thozhum thiruppAdhan \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>(would worship emperumAnAr ) &#8211; as said in, \u2018<em>lakShmaNAya munayE thasmai namaskurmahE\u2019<\/em> (our reverence to the <em>lakShmANa muni<\/em> that is emperumAnAr), and \u2018<em>thasmai rAmAnujAryAya nama:parama yOginE<\/em> \u00a0[vEdhArtha sangraham thaniyan]<em>\u2019 <\/em>(salutations to that <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> who is a great ascetic), and, \u2018<em>praNAmam lakShmaNa muni: prathigruhNAthu mAmakam\u2019<\/em> (My prostrations to emperumAnAr; and he accept it), and \u2018<em>rAmAnujam yathi pathim praNamAmi mUrdhnA <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thaniyans-invocation\/\">thaniyan<\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/kUraththAzhwAn\/\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a><em>]<\/em><em>\u2019 \u00a0<\/em>(~we surrender to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s divine feet), (emperumAnAr of) such divine feet that they prostrate, follow, etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>irAmAnusanai \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>to such emperumAnAr;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>thozhum periyOr \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>As said in \u2018<em>nithyAnjali putAhrushtA\u2019<\/em> (always with joined palms and having happiness), and \u2018<em>puNarththa kaiyinarAy <\/em>[thiruvAimozhi \u2013 6.1.5]\u2019 (having palms joined in reverence), and, \u2018<em>kaigaL kUppich cholleer<\/em> [thiruvAimozh \u2013 6.1.1]\u2019 (tell (Him) with palms joined in reverence), they having the greatness of worshiping at all times.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/emperumAnAr_ThirumEniyil_pUrvacharyargaL-Large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3200\" src=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/emperumAnAr_ThirumEniyil_pUrvacharyargaL-Large-748x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"554\" height=\"759\" srcset=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/emperumAnAr_ThirumEniyil_pUrvacharyargaL-Large-748x1024.jpg 748w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/emperumAnAr_ThirumEniyil_pUrvacharyargaL-Large-219x300.jpg 219w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/emperumAnAr_ThirumEniyil_pUrvacharyargaL-Large-768x1051.jpg 768w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/emperumAnAr_ThirumEniyil_pUrvacharyargaL-Large.jpg 789w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 554px) 100vw, 554px\" \/><\/a><em>irAmAnusanaith thozhum periyOr<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>ezhundhu iraiththu Adum idam \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>they become uncontrollably happy due to that experience, and so not able for their body to stay in one place, they bustle and make sounds like that of waves, and whirl about;<\/p>\n<p>their place;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>adiyEnukku iruppidamE \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>As said in \u2018<em>thannai uRRAtcheyyum thanmaiyinOr, mannu thAmariath thAL thannai uRRAtcheyya ennai uRRAn <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2017\/04\/ramanusa-nurranthadhi-97\/\">rAmAnusa nURRanthAdhi &#8211; 97<\/a>]<em>\u2019,<\/em> for me who is the servant of the last order, the place of residence is;<\/p>\n<p>like those in <em>prathama parvam<\/em> (emperumAn) who are like \u2018<em>sireedharan thol pugazh pAdi, kumbidu nattam ittu Adi kOgukattuNdu uzhal <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/09\/thiruvaimozhi-3-5-4-vambavazhil-kodhai\/\">thiruvAimozhi \u2013 3.5.4<\/a>]\u2019 (dancing upside down \u00a0in chaotic manner and making noise),\u00a0 those in this <em>charama parvam<\/em> (AchAryan) too are excited and make sounds, and dance; their place is my residence, says amudhanAr.<\/p>\n<p>It is said too in \u2018<em>yA vaikuNta kathA sudhA rasabujAm rOchEtha nOchEdhasE<\/em>\u2019 (having tasted the stories of SrIvaikuNtam and its lord, and because of which is having greatness and happiness), and, \u2018<em>vAsa sthAnam thadhiha kruthinA bhAdhi vaikuNata kalpam\u2019<\/em> (the place where those who have done good deeds, their place itself is like SrIvaikuNtam)<\/p>\n<p><strong>{<\/strong>The aforementioned may be similar to what is said in \u2018<em>madhura kavi sonna sol nambuvAr pathi vaikuntham <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/02\/kanninun-chiruth-thambu-11-anban-thannai\/\">kaNNinUn chiruth thAmbu \u2013 11<\/a>]\u2019 (one meaning for this is \u2013 those who have faith in the words of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi<\/a> (about <em>charama parvam<\/em>), their residence itself is SrIvaikuNtam)<br \/>\n<strong>}<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<p>and \u2018<em>vasthavyam AchArya sannidhiyum <\/em>[SrI vachana bhUshaNam &#8211; 275]<em>\u2019<\/em> (place to be is that of AchAryan).<\/p>\n<p><strong>From AzhwAr thirunagari SrI u.vE. vidhwAn thirumalai nallAn chakravarththi rAmakrishNa iyengAr\u2019s \u2018<em>amudha virundhu<\/em>\u2019 :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>sezhum thiraip pARkadal &#8211; <\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>In SrIrangarAja sthavam, bhattar says, \u2018<em>nidhrAsi jAgryayA\u2019<\/em> (sleeping with awareness);<\/p>\n<p>In many texts, where there are conversation of <em>sanaka\u00b8<\/em>and other sages<em>,<\/em> matter of discussion is about <em>charama parvam<\/em>; such knowledge is celebrated many times \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> possesses that knowledge; amudhanAr is saying this after seeing that.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>nal vEdhiyargaL thozhum thiruppAdhan \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>Those who worship emperumAn in the milky ocean and have space in their mind for the knowledge of charama parvam \u2013 they are vEdhiyar;<\/p>\n<p>those who worship emperumAnAr who possesses such knowledge \u2013 <em>nal<\/em> vEdhiyar.<\/p>\n<p>The one they prostrate to \u2013 is One who is sleeping;<\/p>\n<p>The one these people prostrate to \u2013 is emperumAnAr who is as said in \u2018<em>kAdhal uRRarkkum uNdO kaNgaL thunjudhalE<\/em> [thiruviruththam &#8211;
