how much more you might enjoy it \u2013 may be the thought of emperumAnAr \u2013 so thinks <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> and says \u2013 even if (you) easily and in detail show emperumAn, I would not want other than the radiant qualities in your divine body; \u00a0in both the worlds I would sustain myself only if you would grant me that; otherwise I would not.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Introduction (given by <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/08\/pillai-lokam-jiyar\/\"><strong>piLLailOkam jIyar<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the previous pAsuram \u2013 As he was engrossed in the happy thought that emperumAnAr advised the true inner meanings of thathva, hitha, purushArtham, he thought that emperumAnAr might be thinking as \u2013 just for advice itself you are enjoying in this way; if I got you to realize emperumAn how much more you might enjoy and be happy?\u2019<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> replies \u2013 even if you show in the palm of my hand (that is, making it easily accessible), that krishNan who is <em>sakala jana manO hAri <\/em>(one who captures the minds of everyone), and who was doing divine playing, I would not wish for anything other than the auspicious qualities that are present bright in your divine auspicious body;<\/p>\n<p>whether you get angry thinking that I am talking too much foolishly and make me fall in to the hell that is this <em>samsAram, <\/em>or, thinking that \u2013 \u2018he has surrendered only to me\u2019 and so with your kindness get me to reach paramapadham of boundless brightness,\u00a0 Oh emperumAnAr who is the most generous like rainy clouds, if by your at most voluntary kindness help me enjoy your divine auspicious body,\u00a0 then I will sustain regardless of the two places to which you may send me; <\/em>reached<br \/>\n<em>viN \u2013 <\/em>paramapadham<br \/>\n<em>sOdhi \u2013 <\/em>which is of boundless radiance<br \/>\nbecause of its pure sathva (tranquil) quality;<br \/>\nThat is, to stay enjoying only the attributes of your divine body,<br \/>\n<em>iv aruL \u2013 <\/em>this grace for that,<br \/>\n<em>nee seyyil\u00a0 tharippan \u2013 <\/em>if\u00a0 you do that, I will stay put in some place; Otherwise, I would not be able to sustain myself, is the thought.<\/p>\n<p><em>piRangu \u2013 <\/em>brightness;\u00a0\u00a0 <em>nirayam \u2013 samsAram<\/em> that is \u2018<em>vidiyA ven narakam<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/04\/thiruvaimozhi-2-6-7-mudiyadhadhu-en\/\">thiruvAimozhi 2.6.7<\/a>]\u2019 (~hell with no light at the end of the tunnel).<br \/>\n<em>thoyyil \u2013 <\/em>mud;<br \/>\nWhen some recite as \u2018<em>nirayath thoyyil kidakil <strong><u>en<\/u><\/strong><\/em>, sOdhi viN sEril <strong><em><u>en<\/u><\/em><\/strong> \u2013 it does not matter whether I stay put in samsAram or I reach paramapatham \u2013 I have got nothing to do with them;<\/p>\n<p>Thinking about the blemish of samsAram, and distinguished nature of paramapadham, I am not with the attitude of leaving the former and getting the latter; if your highness grants me this experience (of enjoying the qualities of your divine body), then I will sustain myself even in samsAram;\u00a0 if not granting, then I would not sustain myself even in paramapadham, is the point.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ramanuja-selvapillai-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-12428\" src=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ramanuja-selvapillai-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"511\" height=\"511\" srcset=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ramanuja-selvapillai-2.jpg 604w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ramanuja-selvapillai-2-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ramanuja-selvapillai-2-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 511px) 100vw, 511px\" \/><\/a><em>Even if you show Him and give him to me..<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>em sezhum koNdal \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>Like the paddy whose face would be dull\/withering if there is one less spell of rain, as said in \u2018<em>vidhyAnyA SilpanaipuNam <\/em>[SrIvishNu purANam 1.19.41]<em>\u2019 <\/em>(Other knowledge are like mundane skills which are useless for self\/god realization), been reciting other than the true SAsthram, which are equivalent to learning to stitch a foot wear, and not reaching the knowledge of <em>thathvam <\/em>as \u2018<em>sAvidhyAyAvimukhthayE<\/em> [SrIvishNu purANam 1.19.41]<em>\u2019<\/em> (That knowledge which leads to liberation is true knowledge), and so not having a way to be saved, as said in \u2018<em>vAdinEn vAdi<\/em> [periya thirumozhi \u2013 1.1.1]\u2019 (was withered (due to being in samsAram)), and so our faces were dull;<\/p>\n<p>emperumAnAr, like a spell of rain for us,\u00a0 created association to his distinguished divine feet, and advised true knowledge, saved us, and made us something \u2013 so <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> is calling him as \u2018<strong><em>sezhum koNdal\u2019<\/em><\/strong> (rainy cloud).<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the cloud that is formed by (only if there is) a mix of smoke, light, water, and air, and which is of material realm, and not pouring on those who need it, but on oceans etc., and for whom that did not ask for it,<\/p>\n<p>the cloud that is emperumAnAr is the head of true inner knowledge of <em>thathvam,<\/em>etc., and has incarnated with a vow to save everyone in the world whether they asked for it or not \u2013 emperumAnAr is having such distinguished auspicious qualities \u2013 so <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> is calling him \u2018<strong><em>sezhum koNdal\u2019.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>irAmAnusA\u00a0 &#8211; <\/em><\/strong>Oh emperumAnAr of such nature!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>kaiyil kani <u>a<\/u>nna kaNNanaik kAttith tharilum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>As said by \u2018<em>paththudai adiyavarkku eLiyavan<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/06\/thiruvaimozhi-1-3-1-paththudai-adiyavar\/\">thiruvAimozhi \u2013 1.3.1<\/a>]\u2019 (easily approachable to devoted servants), He is subservient to His devotees, He performed the work of messenger,\u00a0 charioteering, etc.,<\/p>\n<p>and as said in \u2018<em>kaNNik kuRum kayiRRAl kattuNdAn kANEdi<\/em> [periya thirumozhi \u2013 11.5.5]\u2019 (~Oh kaNNan got tied with a small rope, you see my friend!), He got tied by a weak rope, and got beaten,<\/p>\n<p>and as said in \u2018<em>koRRak kudaiyAga Endhi ninRa gOvardhdhanaththu ennai uyththidumin<\/em> [nAchchiyAr thirumozhi \u2013 12.8]\u2019 (~please unite me to the gOvardhan hill which kaNNan lifted as an umbrella),\u00a0 lifting the gOvardhana mountain,<\/p>\n<p>and as said in \u2018<em>thiNNan veedu mudhal muzhudhumAy<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/01\/thiruvaimozhi-2-2-1-thinnan-vidu\/\">thiruvAimozhi \u2013 2.2.1<\/a>]\u2019 (being the controller for all results like giving strong and unique mOksham, etc.) \u2013 being distinguished, and the lord of everyone (<em>sarvasmAthparan<\/em>), and having wonderful qualities and acts \u2013<\/p>\n<p>even if (you) give such krishNan for me to see easily like having a gooseberry fruit in the palm of the hand (that is, easily and fruitfully),<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>unRan meyyil piRangiya seer anRi vENdilan yAn \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>As said in \u2018<em>pathim viSvasya\u2019 <\/em>(emperumAn is our lord\/husband) and, \u2018<em>dhEvAnAm thAnavAnAncha\u2019<\/em> \u00a0\u2018<em>dhEvAnAm dhAnavAnAncha sAmAnyamathi dhaivatham<\/em>\u201d (~He is the lord who is common to dhEvas and asuras), and \u2018<em>ulagukku Or mundhaith thAy thandhai<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 5.7.7]\u2019 (~He is the distinguished mother and father for the world), am I dedicated to the one who is common to all? Am I not dedicated to your highness who is the lord only for those who are dedicated only to you?<\/p>\n<p>Always, interest would be born only in the matter where we have got love towards, isnt\u2019 it? So, I would not wish for anything other than the qualities of elegance and beauty (<em>saundharyam and lAvaNyam)<\/em>, that are bright in your divine auspicious body; I would not even think of those others;<\/p>\n<p><em>piRangu \u2013 <\/em>being bright.<\/p>\n<p>If asked &#8211; how so: when it is SAsthram that says \u2018<em>prApyasya brahmaNO rUpam <\/em>[hArItha smruthi 8-141]<em>\u2019<\/em> (brahmam (<a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a>) is the destiny to be attained), that is, destiny is sarvESvaran who is the target of all who surrender, and when you the sentient is the one who surrender (to Him), can you say like that? While He is the sarvESvaran who is the destiny, who is ever present, and who is present as <em>antharAthmA <\/em>(in-dwelling supersoul<em>) <\/em>for me, but, from time eternal till now I did not locate the shore of sea that is <em>samsAram; <\/em>after I got your highness today (now), adiyen reached the shore;\u00a0 So the thought is \u2013 only your highness is my destiny.<\/p>\n<p>Or,<\/p>\n<p>when krishNan was being a messenger, charioteer, etc., even after He made visible His full form to everyone whether they are amicable or opposed, and even after advising about <em>thathva, hitha, purushArtha<\/em>m from within the chariot seat of His, the desire for liberation was not born for even at least one person; it is well known, that after just seeing your highness the dumb got that desire for liberation, and your highness got him to see the distinguished divine body of yours, and gave him paramapadham at that time itself \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/kuraththazhwan\/\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a> heard this news, and hated himself by thinking he might not get such benefit; \u00a0in these ways, there is a big difference between emperumAn and your highness, so, I am having faith in this way \u2013 can also be the reply of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Or, else,<\/p>\n<p>even if you show the easy way to approach emperumAn, but since He can punish as well, seeing my lowliness He might be unfavorable, so, I am having faith that it is only your love that would uplift me from the samsAram.<\/p>\n<p>It is said too as\u00a0 \u2018<em>nArAyaNOpi vikruthim yAthi gurO: prachyuthasya dhurbudhdhE:<br \/>\njalAtha bhEtham kamalam sOshayathi ravirna pOshayathi<\/em> \u2018 (Just like the sun which nourishes the lotus will itself scorch the flower when the flower comes out of water, for the ones who give up the attachment from their guru, SrIman nArAyaNan (who helps everyone) himself will lead to their suffering);<\/p>\n<p>Or,<\/p>\n<p>Even though He is the destiny, when enjoying Him, since it says \u2018<em>bhagavath vandhanam svAdhyam guru vandhana pUrvakam \u2013 kSheeram SarkarAyA yuktham svatha dhEhi viSEshatha:\u2019<\/em> (Such a visual of emperumAn preceded by that of AchAryan is the most wonderful experience. It is like drinking the milk mixed with sugar), for us who are devoted (<em>rasikar<\/em>), it is appropriate to be in the state of considering the AchAryan\u2019s divine body\u00a0 only, isn\u2019t it? Accordingly\u00a0 I too understood the difference of this based on your accepting me; so other than enjoying along with your divine body, I do not agree to enjoy Him separately, is also the meaning.<\/p>\n<p>If your highness becomes angry that \u2013 he (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a>) against true nature took himself up to be independent (<em>svAthanthriyam<\/em>)\u2019,\u00a0 and your highness decide either to &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>nirayath thoyyil kidakkilum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>keep me immersed in the slushy mud that is <em>samsAram<\/em> which does not have any dawn (relief); <em>\u00a0thoyyil \u2013 <\/em>mud;\u00a0 <em>nirayam \u2013 <\/em>due to its sad nature, it talks about <em>samsAram.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Or, if your highness think\u00a0 &#8211; Oh he is ours only &#8211; and so show your kindness and \u2013<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>sOdhi viN sErilum<\/em><\/strong><em> \u2013 o<\/em>r you\u00a0 set me into <em>paramapadham <\/em>which is of unbounded radiance since it is purely of sathvam (tranquility);<\/p>\n<p>When some recite as <em>\u2018<strong>nirayath thoyyil kidakkil <u>en<\/u><\/strong><\/em><strong> \u00a0sOdhi viN sEril <em><u>en<\/u>\u2019 \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>It does not matter whether I stay put in <em>samsAram, <\/em>or go and reach paramapadham; I don\u2019t\u00a0 have any thing to do with either place, is the thought.<\/p>\n<p>Or, for, <strong><em>nirayath thoyyil, <\/em><\/strong>etc., it can also mean \u2013 whether I am immersed in the slushy mud that is <em>samsAram<\/em>, or go reach paramapadham which is of unbounded radiance due to it being of pure sathvam. \u00a0<strong>{<\/strong>Difference in the meaning here is that it does not say that emperumAnAr decided one of them for him<strong>}<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>ivvaruL nee seyyil dharippan \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>if your highness would just show your grace that would help me be fully enjoying the qualities like elegance etc., of your divine body, then I would sustain myself.<\/p>\n<p>If your highness would grant me this experience, then I would sustain even if in samsAram, and if not, then I would not sustain myself even in paramapadham, is what he is saying, you see!<\/p>\n<p>As said in \u2018<em>thariyEn ini un charaNam thandhu en sanmam kaLaiyAyE<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 5.8.7]\u2019 (~Please give your grace and remove my cycle of births, as I cannot withstand it anymore), and,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>kaLaivAy thunbam un kaLaiyAdhu ozhivAy kaLai kaN maRRilEn<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 5.8.8]\u2019 (Whether you would remove my sorrows or not, I don\u2019t have any other shelter to go for this), and,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>na dhEham na prANAnna cha sukhamaSEShbhilashitham<\/em>, <em>na chAthmAnam nAnyath kimapi thava SEshathvavibhavAth |bahirbhUtham nAtham! kshaNamapi sahE yAthu SathadhA,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>vinASam thathsathyam madhumadhana! vigyApanamidham || <\/em>\u00a0[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2017\/02\/sthothra-rathnam-57\/\">sthOthra rathnam \u2013 57<\/a>]\u2019 (Oh my lord! Anything outside the wealth of being surrendered to you, I will not tolerate even for a moment my body, vital airs, those pleasures which are desired by everyone and my own <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA<\/a> (self) which are devoid of servitude; let (all these aspects which are devoid of servitude) disappear. Oh my lord who killed madhu (the demon)! this is the truth; this is (my) request.), and,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>naragum suvarggamum nAN malarAL kOnaip, pirivum piriyAmaiyum <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2014\/11\/gyana-saram-2-naragum-suvargamum\/\">gyAna sAram &#8211; 2<\/a>]\u2019 (hell and heaven are &#8211; separation and non-separation from (emperumAn) the husband of the one of the lotus flower)<\/p>\n<p>and so, like how <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">AzhvAr<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/01\/alavandhar\/\">ALavandhAr<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/11\/28\/arulala-perumal-emperumanar\/\">aruLALap perumAL emperumAnAr<\/a> had considered in case of <em>prathama parvam<\/em> (emperumAn), <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> too considerd it in case of charama parvam (AchAryan).<\/p>\n<p><strong>From AzhwAr thirunagari SrI u.vE. vidhwAn thirumalai nallAn chakravarththi rAmakrishNa iyengAr\u2019s \u2018<em>amudha virundhu<\/em>\u2019 :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>kaiyil &#8230; kAttith tharilum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>kaNNan \u2013 attracts everyone\u2019s heart.
