(Or, since <em><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a><br \/>\n<\/em> always celebrates shat padham (dhvayam), since <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a>\u2019s mind wants to do the same, it became <em>shat padham <\/em>(bee)).<\/p>\n<p><strong>{Translator\u2019s note: <\/strong><em>shat padham \u2013 <\/em>Also means 6 legs \u2013 those of AchAryan, his wife, and his son.\u00a0 AchAryan \u2013 can be <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a><br \/>\nin this context; wife &#8211; can be <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a> whose divine feet <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a><br \/>\nshowed to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> (<em>paNi seyvadhu gruhiNikkiRE &#8211; though one is hired by the husband, one should serve the wife at home &#8211; mumukshuppadi<\/em>); and son &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/14\/thirukkurugaippiran-pillan-english\/\">thirukkurugaip pirAn piLLAn<\/a> whom <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> considers as his son.<\/p>\n<p>And you see, these are the divine feet which <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> celebrates at all times.<br \/>\n<strong>}<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>unadhu adippOdhil oNseerAm theLi thEn uNdu amarndhida vENdi nin pAl \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>As said in \u2018<em>pApakriyasya SaraNam bhagavath kshamaiva \u2013 sAchathvayaiva kamalA ramaNErthi thAyath kshEmassa Evahi yatheendhra bhavachchrithAnAm<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/08\/yathiraja-vimsathi-18\/\">yathirAja vimSathi &#8211; 18<\/a>], your highness, who, to save all the sentient, performed SaraNAgathy in the divinely radiant divine feet of\u00a0 thiruvarangach chelvanAr (SrIranganAtha), in the presence of SrI ranga nAyakiyAr; from such you, to drink the clear honey that is your divine qualities of <em>chaithyam <\/em>(refreshingly cool)<em>, mArdhavam <\/em>(softness)<em>, saurabhyam <\/em>(fragrant)<em>,<\/em> etc., and as saying <em>\u2018un adik keezh amarndhu pukundhEnE<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 6.10.10]\u2019 (~am being under your divine feet), am praying to you, for me to be near you like your shadow and lines in the feet.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>pOndhadhu \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>reached.<\/p>\n<p>As said in \u2018<em>gurupadhAmbujam dhyAyEth\u2019 <\/em>(Always be thinking about divine feet of AchAryan)<em>, <\/em>it is meditating on your divine feet;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>oN seer &#8211; <\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em>beautiful qualities;<\/p>\n<p>saying <strong><em>nin pAl <\/em><\/strong><em>\u2013 <\/em>is \u2013 in the divine feet of your highness; <em>pAl \u2013 <\/em>to (you).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>adhuvE eendhida vENdum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>Other than what my wavering mind is loving to get, without showing something else, please give only that. You see <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> is asking like this with the wish as \u2013 Please give only the experience of the honey of the lotus feet of your highness.<\/p>\n<p>As said in \u2018<em>vishNO:padhE paramE madhva uthsa:\u2019 <\/em>(honey flowing from thrivikraman\u2019s divine feet),<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>rasamhyEvAyam labhdhvAnandhee bhavathi\u2019<\/em> (reaching the honey that is divine feet of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> and becoming happy (and what else would he wish for?)),<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>sarva gandha: sarva rasa:\u2019 <\/em>(emperumAn\u2019s divine body is the source of all fragrance and taste), and,<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018un thEnE malarum thiruppAdham <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/08\/thiruvaimozhi-1-5-5-maney-nokki\/\">thiruvAimozhi \u2013 1.5.5<\/a>]\u2019 (Your divine feet that is the origin of honey), and,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>thavAmruthasyandhini pAdha pankajE <\/em>[sthOthra rathnam]<em>\u2019 <\/em>(how would any mind fixed on your divine feet look for anything else?),<\/p>\n<p>if you say &#8211; There is something else that is more enjoyable than this, and I will give you that &#8211; ,<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>idhu anRi onRum mAndhakillAdhu \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>As said in \u2018<em>eedhE innam vENduvadhu endhAy<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 10.8.10]\u2019 (~(got your divine feet, doing services, and) I pray for more of this), we have got the taste only for the honey in the divine feet of your highness, so, if giving something other than that, then, like how if one feeds grass to <em>amrthAsi <\/em>(one who is used to drinking nectar (dhEvas)),\u00a0 it would not go below his throat, the beautiful bee that is my mind would not eat that; <\/em>love. <em>mAndha <\/em>-&gt; eat.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>ini maRRonRu kAtti mayakkidalE \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>Given this, please do not show something else and delude (me).<\/p>\n<p><em>mayakku \u2013 <\/em>delude\/besot;<\/p>\n<p>You see, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> is feeling uneasy to even utter \u2018showing <em>bhagavath vishayam\u2019<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a>), and so is saying \u2018showing &#8220;something else&#8221;<em>\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>mAndhakillAdhu \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>if your highness wishes, you can make even that to happen (set me up in <em>prathama parvam<\/em>);\u00a0 even then, my mind would not cooperate to that case;\u00a0 your highness always attempts to do something only based on the individual&#8217;s desire, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n<p>Has your highness not considered in your mind the meaning said in \u2019<em>sthithErvindhE makarandha nirbhbharE madhuvrathE na ikshurakamhi veekShathE\u2019<\/em> (How would someone having mind that is resting on your lotus divine feet dripping with honey, be wishing for something else?)\u00a0 (In the same way my mind would not look for anything else than your divine feet, in <em>charama parvam<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p><em>paramAchAryar <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/01\/alavandhar\/\">AlavandhAr<\/a>) too in the case of <em>prathama parvam <\/em>(emperumAn) said this as \u2018<em>thavAmrutha syandhini pAdha pankajE nivESidhAthmA kathamanyadhichchathi\u2019<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2017\/01\/sthothra-rathnam-27\/\">sthOthra rathnam 27<\/a>]<em>\u2019 <\/em>(how would any mind fixed on your divine feet look for something else?)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>ini maRRonRu kAtti mayakkidalE \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> is saying \u2013 not even consider any thing else.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\"><em>nammAzhvAr <\/em><\/a>too divined this meaning in case of <em>prathama parvam <\/em>(emperumAn), as \u2018<em>pala nee kAttip paduppAyO <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 6.9.9]<em>\u2019<\/em>, \u2018<em>innam keduppAyO<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 6.9.8]\u2019, \u2018<em>nERi kAtti neekkudhiyO<\/em> [periya thiruvanthAdhi &#8211; 6]\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From AzhwAr thirunagari SrI u.vE. vidhwAn thirumalai nallAn chakravarththi rAmakrishNa iyengAr\u2019s \u2018<em>amudha virundhu<\/em>\u2019 :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>pOndhadhu &#8230; mAndhakillAdhu \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>Nature of a bee is to keep looking for flowers for honey. If it gets a flower pregnant with honey, will it even lift its head to look at something else?\u00a0 For a bee, honey is the only food. It would not eat anything else. That is why it is also called as \u2018<em>madhu vratham\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After a bee drinks honey in full, it would not move from there.<\/p>\n<p>It is quite a match for a <em>\u2018pon\u2019 vaNdu <\/em>(bee) (mind) to come and settle down under <em>\u2018poR\u2019 kaRpagam <\/em>(tree)<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Due to meditating often on <em>shatpadham<\/em> (dhvayam), his mind also became <em>shatpadham <\/em>(bee (six legs)).\u00a0 piLLai lOkam jeeyar would tastefully comment that this is like how bhagavAn meditated on the fish-like eyes of lakShmI and He became a fish.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>adhuvE eendhida vENdum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>only if you give what is wished for would it be considered as granting the <em>purushArtham, <\/em>isn&#8217;t it?<\/p>\n<p>Not just following the restriction mentioned in \u2018<em>gurupAdhAbujam dhyAyEth\u2019<\/em> (always think about AchAryan\u2019s divine feet), but my mind, by itself, has involved in the divine qualities of yours and has attempted to keep thinking about it continuously; it is <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> only who should grace for my mind to be immersed in the experience of your qualities more and more \u2013 is the prayer of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>ini maRRonRu kAtti mayakkidal \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>whereas <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> might divert our attention towards many many lowly pleasures, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> can only divert by showing the great pleasure that is emperumAn\u2019s divine feet. By this, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> is showing his status of being in <em>charama parvam <\/em>(subservience to AchAryan).<\/p>\n<p>In this pAsuram it is so enjoyable to see <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> considering <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a><br \/>\nwith \u2013 <em>ananyArha SEshathvam <\/em>(not belonging to anyone other than <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>), <em>ananya SaraNathvam <\/em>(not having any other means than <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>), and <em>ananya bhOgyathvam<\/em> (not considering anything else as enjoyable than <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>That is, by saying \u2018<em>unadhu adippOdhil amarndhida nin pAl\u2019<\/em> (be under your divine feet) &#8211; while it would have been enough to use the words \u2018<em>unadhu adippOdhil amarndhida\u2019, <\/em>using additional words \u2018<em>nin pAl\u2019<\/em> shows that he does not want to go to someone else, but only to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>, and so it shows <em>ananya Seshathvam<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Saying \u2018<em>adhuvE eendhida vENdum\u2019<\/em> it shows that <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> only is the means of getting what is desired.
