previous (<em>thannai uRRAtcheyyum<\/em>)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Introduction (given by <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\"><strong>maNavALa mAmunigaL<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As he spoke about such help of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> (showing him <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a>\u2019s divine feet), \u00a0his mind thought \u2013 it is due to looking at karmas that eeSvaran who is having absolute relationship had left (me) circling through heaven, hell, and womb; so due to the relationship with <em>prakruthi, <\/em>bad taste would rise and might lead into bad ways \u2013 so, would this goodness continue till the end (of attaining true goal)? &#8211; thinking so, his mind felt weak; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> says (to his mind) \u2013 when surrendered to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>, he won\u2019t let us down, so you do not have to worry about attaining the goal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Introduction (given by <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/08\/pillai-lokam-jiyar\/\"><strong>piLLailOkam jIyar<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> thought about how <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> set him on the noble path (of being devoted to the divine feet of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\">kUraththAzhvAn<\/a>) and became happy, his divine mind said \u2013 even though you say like this, since <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">sarvESvaran<\/a> who controls everything has vowed to give fruits based on respective eternal karmas, it is due to looking at our karmas only that He had let us roam without any break, in heaven, hell, and womb; since we still have association with<em> prakruthi<\/em> which can generate such karmas, it is possible to be involved in bad ways due to growth of bad old taste and become target of punishment; only if this goodness continues till the time of attaining goal should you be able to stay worry free like this? \u2013 and so his mind was weak; 34<\/a>]\u2019 (deeds of the past, future, and what is being effected now),<\/p>\n<p>and vowing to lift us up from the mud slush of material world, he came and incarnated in this \u2018<em>kodu ulagam<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 4.9.7]\u2019 (~ cruel world); such <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>charaNam enRAl<\/em><\/strong><em> \u2013 <\/em>As said in \u2018<em>rAmAnujasya charaNau SaraNam prapadhyE\u2019, <\/em>and, \u2018<em>SaraNamEmi rAmAnujam\u2019<\/em>, and, \u2018<em>irAmAnusan charaNE gathi<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/11\/ramanusa-nurranthadhi-13\/\">rAmAnusa nURRanthAdhi \u2013 13<\/a>]<em>\u2019<\/em>, and \u2018<em>mUlE nivESyamahathAm nigamadhrumANAm mushNan pradhArka bhayam thrudhanaika dhaNda: &#8211; rangESa bhaktha jana mAnasa rAja hamsO rAmAnujaS SaraNamasthu munissvayathna:\u2019<\/em> (~vEdha vEdhantham is a tree that is grown big and with many branches; <em>mAyAvAdhis<\/em> could not handle it and so did not give proper meanings to it, whereas <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> who holds thridhaNdam provided proper meanings; devotees of rangESan, that is, <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/azhwars\/\">AzhvArs<\/a>, in whose lotus mind\u00a0 ramAnuja is the <em>rAja hamsam<\/em> living around such lotus; we hold on to the divine feet of that rAmAnuja muni), and,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>rAmAnujAya munayE nama ukthi mAthram kAmAthurO(S)pi kumathi: kalayan nabheekShNam \u2013 yAmAmananthi yaminAm bhagavaj janAnAm thAmEva vindhathi gathim thamsa: parasthAth<\/em> [rAmAnujAshtakam]<em>\u2019<\/em> (Even if one is of bad mind and afflicted by other desires, if he often utters just the word \u2018<em>rAmAnujAya nama:\u2019, <\/em>then he would reach the mOksham which the yOgis who recite His names would reach),<\/p>\n<p>if we just do the saying of one sentence \u2018<em>dhevareerE charaNam<\/em>\u2019 (~only you are my shelter);<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>iniya suvarggaththhil<\/em><\/strong><em> \u2013 <\/em>for those who are under the attraction of material world due to the matters of sound, taste, etc., it would look completely enjoyable \u2013 such heaven;<\/p>\n<p><em>inimai -&gt; <\/em>sweetness\/enjoyability<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Heaven is -&gt; As said in \u2018<em>thraividhyAmAm sOmapA: bhUthapApA: yagyairishtvA svarggathim prArththayanthE \u2013 thE puNyamASAdhya surEndhra lOkam aSnanthi dhivyAn dhivi dhEva bhOgAn \u2013 thE tham bhukthvA svargga lOkam viSAlam kSheeNE puNyE marthya lOkam viSanthi\u2019<\/em> (doing <em>yAgam<\/em>, <em>yagyam<\/em> to go to heaven, saving all the puNyams for it, reaches heaven, and enjoys enjoyments beyond human level in the most sprawling heaven, spends good karmas, and after exhausting it, returns to birth),<\/p>\n<p>a place that is perishable one day,\u00a0 and obtained based on efforts (<em>sOpadhika<\/em>), that is of such nature, in such a heaven \u2013<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>idumE \u2013<\/em><\/strong> will <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> put and keep us there?\u00a0 (No he would not).<\/p>\n<p>As said in \u2018<em>thandhu:kEna sambhinnam<\/em>\u2019 (sadness is broken away), etc., even though compared to this material world that heaven is more distinguished, it is similar to hell, and is most adverse only, for <em>mumukshus <\/em>(those who wish to get liberated (from the cycle of birth etc));<\/p>\n<p>It is as said in \u2018<em>dhEvEndhrathvAdhikam padham EthEvai nirayAsthAtha sthAnasya paramAthmana:<\/em><strong><em> &#8211; <\/em><\/strong><em>kshEthrANi mithrANi dhanAni nAtha puthrAScha dhArA: paSavO gruhANi | thvath pAdha padhma pravaNAth vruththEr bhavanthi sarvE prathikUla rUpA:\u2019, <\/em>(~ the post of dhEvEndhran, etc., land, friends, wealth, husband, sons, wife, cows, etc., houses, etc., would be felt as different forms of hurdles, when one&#8217;s devotion increases towards your divine feet);<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhvAr<\/a> too divined \u2018<em>pala nee kAttip paduppAyO<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 6.9.9]\u2019 (Are you trying to finish me by showing to my eyes lowly pleasures?), and,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>pOra vaiththAy puramE<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 5.1.5]<em>\u2019<\/em> (You kept me away into matters other than You), and,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>neRi kAtti neekudhiyO <\/em>[periya thiruvanthAdhi &#8211; 6]\u2019 (Are You trying to show me other paths\/means to keep me away from You?), and,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>aRpa sArangaL avai suvaiththu aganRozhindhEn<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/07\/thiruvaimozhi-3-2-6-kirpan-killen\/\">thiruvAimozhi \u2013 3.2.6<\/a>]\u2019 (I had stayed away from You and toiled as I enjoyed lowly pleasures),<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>kUvik koLLum kAlam innam kuRugAdhO<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 6.9.9]\u2019 (Would the duration of getting me (to Your divine feet) not shorten?),<\/p>\n<p>thus they consider the pleasure of material realm as adverse and as detrimental to the nature of <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>innum narakil ittuch chudumE<\/em><\/strong><em> \u2013<\/em>As said in<strong> \u2018<\/strong><em>upAya upEya bhAvEna thathvatha: sarva dhESikai: .. sUniSchidhAngri padhmAya\u2019<\/em><strong> (<\/strong>~It is the AchAryan who is the means and destiny), after\u00a0 becoming dedicated only to him by considering his divine feet only as the means and destiny, would he put us in suffering in <em>raurava<\/em> and such hells which are fearful just upon hearing about them and which are very unbearable?\u00a0 (no, he would not);<\/p>\n<p>As said in<strong> \u2018<\/strong><em>kruchrENa dhEhAn nishkrAnthim yAmya kinkara dharSanam<\/em> ||\u2018 (~ as he comes out (of the body) he sees the servants of yama), \u2018<em>yAthanA dhEha sambandham yAmya pAsaischa karshaNam<\/em> | \u2019 (~pulled by the servant of yama inflicting pain), \u2018<em>ugra mArga kadhakklESam yamasya purathassthithim<\/em> ||\u2019 (~suffers going through terrible route to the abode of yama), \u2018<em>thanniyOgavacha yAthayAthanASchacha sahasracha:<\/em> |\u2019 (~ takes the form of thousands of painful bodies),<em> \u2018SruthvA smruthAvAcha dhUyEham thath pravESa bhayAkulaha:<\/em> ||\u2019 (~ I hear about all the aforementioned dangers, and am very afraid to enter into this)<strong>,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>and in \u2018<em>kadum solAr kadiyAr kAlanAr thamarAl paduvadhOr kodumiRaikku anji<\/em> [periya thirumozhi \u2013 1.6.5]\u2019 (~fearing the hardship by rude servants of yaman who would use harsh words),<\/p>\n<p>and in \u2018<em>eNNiRandha thunbam tharu nirayam pala<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/07\/ramanusa-nurranthadhi-30\/\">rAmAnusa nURRanthAdhi &#8211; 30<\/a>]\u2019,<\/p>\n<p>in such hells; would he be neutral to our going to such hells and suffer?\u00a0 (no he would not);<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>avaRRaith thodar tharu thollaich chuzhal piRappil nadumE <\/em><\/strong><em>\u2013 <\/em>As said in \u2018<em>karma brahmOdhbhavam vidhdhi <\/em>[<a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/3-15\/\">SrI bhagavath gIthA \u2013 3.15<\/a>]\u2019 (know that body (<em>brahma<\/em>) gives forth action), for the gaining of good and bad karmas which are reason for those heaven and hell, the body is the source for it, as indicated by the word \u2018<em>brahma\u2019,<\/em> it is based on this that this cycle continues, and,<\/p>\n<p>as said in \u2019<em>chakrasthE bhrAmyamANE svakarmabhi: <\/em>(~ due to his karma he keeps taking birth) and<strong>,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>mARi mARip pala piRappum piRandhu<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/04\/thiruvaimozhi-2-6-8-mari-mari\/\">thiruvAimozhi \u2013 2.6.8<\/a><strong>]\u2019 (<\/strong>in many births (such as <em>dhEva<\/em> (celestial), <em>thiryak<\/em> (animal), <em>manushya<\/em> (human), <em>sthAvara<\/em> (plant) forms), while being born again and again (in same form of birth too)<strong>),<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>would he set us up in the series of births and go in cycles like in a wheel? (no he would not).<\/p>\n<p>That is, would he let us do acts and be\u00a0 involved in that?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>nadumE <\/em><\/strong><em>\u2013 <\/em>would he establish us\/set us up ?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>ini nammai nam vasaththE vidumE <\/em><\/strong><em>\u2013 <\/em>To the divine feet of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>, being \u2018<em>nizhalum adi thARum <\/em>[periya thiruvanthAdhi &#8211; 31]\u2019 (amicable like shadow and lines of divine feet), that is, us who have become completely subservient, would he make us independent-minded in the remaining time of future, and let us be according to our taste (in other matters) and become <em>svaira sanchAri <\/em>(going in the ways of our own reckoning)?\u00a0 (no he would not).<\/p>\n<p>That is, for us who have surrendered to the divine feet of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>, and having the distinction of being \u2018<em>thanakkEyAga enaik koLLum<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/02\/thiruvaimozhi-2-3-4-enadhu-aviyul\/\">thiruvAimozhi 2.9.4<\/a>]\u2019 (this act of enslaving me exclusively for him), he would divine such that none of the unwanted things would touch us \u2013 is the point.<\/p>\n<p>It is as said in \u2018<em>thriNeekrutha virinchAdhi nirankuSa vibhUthaya: rAmAnuja padhAmbOja samASrayaNa Salina:\u2019 <\/em>(those who surrender to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> think of other things as to be neglected), and,<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018<\/strong><em>mathana kathanai: naklishyanthE yathISvara samSrayA:<\/em> [yathirAja sapthathi]<em>\u2019 <\/em>(those who have reached <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> would not worry about good and bad things)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>mEvudhaRku <\/em><\/strong><em>\u2013 <\/em>about the destiny which is prayed for by us as said in \u2018<em>adiyArgal kuzhAngaLai \u2013 udan kUduvadhu enRu kolO<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/02\/thiruvaimozhi-2-3-10-kalippum-kavarvum\/\">thiruvAimozhi \u2013 2.3.10<\/a>]\u2019 (~Oh when would I be able to join the groups of devotees (in SrIvaikuNtam)?), and<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>rAmAnujArya vaSaka: parivarthisheeya <\/em>[sundhara bAhu sthavam]<em>\u2019<\/em> (we want to be under a corner of the shadow of divine feet of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> )<\/p>\n<p><em>naiyal \u2013 <\/em>do not be doubtful\/weak;<\/p>\n<p><em>mEvu \u2013 <\/em>match\/fit; that is, attaining;<\/p>\n<p>Like how saying \u201cdon\u2019t cry for food\u201d (in thamizh colloquy), it means \u2018don\u2019t worry about getting the food, you are sure to get it\u2019, \u2018<em>naiyal mEvudhaRku\u2019 <\/em>implies the same regarding getting the goal;<\/p>\n<p>Considering the words of SAsthram, \u2018<em>nAbhuktham ksheeyathE karma kalpakOti Sathairapi, avaSyam anubhOkthavyam krutham karma SubhASubham\u2019<\/em> (~for how much ever crores of years you experience the fruits of your karmas, they would not diminish; and its effects have to be definitely experienced in the form of good and bad),<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">sarvESvaran<\/a> is of the nature of instigating us into worldly affairs; would <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>, who also gives full importance to SAsthram, ignore us \u2013 was the fear of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a>\u2019s mind. Addressing his own mind, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> says \u00a0&#8211; even after surrendering to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> and being in <em>charama parva nishtai <\/em>(devoted to AchAryan only), he would not make us be affected by the heat of material world till the time of getting the destiny, unlike it would happen for <em>upAsakar <\/em>(those in bhakthi yOgam, etc.)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>manamE naiyal mEvudhaRkE \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>he is saying so by treating mind like a sentient; his advise is such that it could reform even a non-sentient, you see!<\/p>\n<p>It is said too, <em>\u2018<\/em><em>nakalu bhAgavathAyam avishayam gachchanthi\u2019 <\/em>(if they are devotees then they are not under consideration by yaman), and,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>parihara madhusUdhana prapannAn prabhuraham anya nruNAm na vaishNavANAm\u2019<\/em> (~do not go near the residence of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s devotees<em>; <\/em>I am not the lord for them; they are my lord), and,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>thyaja bata dhUra tharENa thAn apApAn\u2019<\/em> (leave those devotees; they are not of any sins),.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/16\/thirumazhisai-azhwar\/\">thirumazhisaip pirAn<\/a> divined this meaning too in the matter of <em>prathama parvam <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a>), in \u2018<em>eththinAl idark kadal kidaththi Ezhai nenjamE<\/em> [thiruchchandha viruththam &#8211; 115]\u2019 (Oh poor mind! why are you (unnecessarily) immersed in the sea of sadness (when <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is well set inside us)? ).<\/p>\n<p><strong>From AzhwAr thirunagari SrI u.vE. vidhwAn thirumalai nallAn chakravarththi rAmakrishNa iyengAr\u2019s \u2018<\/strong><em><strong>amudha virundhu<\/strong><\/em><strong>\u2019 :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>iniya suvarggaththil <\/strong><\/em><strong>\u2013 <\/strong>Since it would appear to be good, it is said as \u2018iniya\u2019 suvarggam.<\/p>\n<p>Since <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> has incarnated to lift us up, would he let us be tied to worldly affairs?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>nammai nam vasaththE vidumE <\/strong><\/em><strong>\u2013 <\/strong>We who spoiled ourselves by doing what we wanted. Will he let us continue in that path in the future, even after surrendering to him? (he would not).<\/p>\n<p>This shows the differences between <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> conducts us based on karmas;
