(In this pAsuram) amudhanAr say &#8211; I shall praise him thinking about his descending here and incarnating for helping us with that knowledge, and about the way the lion that is <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> came to this world to win the tigers that are the philosophers that misinterpreted vEdhas.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Introduction (given by <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/08\/pillai-lokam-jiyar\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: blue;\">piLLailOkam jIyar<\/span><\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In previous pAsuram \u2013 talked that kali would invade and cause destruction to those who do not have involvement in the knowledge that <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> advised;<\/p>\n<p>In this pAsuram \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> says &#8211; 11.4.10]&#8217;, having beautiful sounds;<br \/>\n<em>than \u2013 <\/em>he (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr)<\/a><br \/>\n<em>uNdu \u2013 <\/em>enjoyed (periya thirumozhi) as life saving, nourishing, and enjoying,<br \/>\n<em>uLLam thadiththu \u2013<\/em> (and his) divine mind became exhilarated<br \/>\n<em>adhanAl \u2013 <\/em>and due to that,<br \/>\nhe who does not tolerate seeing the opposing philosophers<br \/>\n<em>vali mikka \u2013<\/em> got great strength\/force,<br \/>\n<em>seeyam \u2013 <\/em>like a lion,<br \/>\n<em>irAmAnusan \u2013 <\/em>such <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>,<br \/>\nunlike <em>bAhyar <\/em>who do not accept vEdhas as authoritative,<br \/>\n<em>maRai \u2013 <\/em>(they who) while accepting vEdhas,<br \/>\n<em>vAdhiyarAm <\/em>\u2013 would do debates and destroy the world<br \/>\n<em>puli mikkadhu enRu \u2013<\/em> there were too many such tigers that are mis-interpreters of vEdhas,<br \/>\nlike how in the place where there are many rogue animals like tiger that hunt meek animals, a lion that would destroy such tigers would come in,<br \/>\n<em>ip puvanaththil \u2013 <\/em>in this world where many other philosophies who wrong the true path of vEdhas, lived;<br \/>\n<em>vandhamai \u2013 <\/em>in the way he incarnated to wrong those other philosophies,<br \/>\n<em>pORRuvan \u2013 <\/em>I shall praise (such ways of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><i>kali -&gt; <\/i>bustling; or, strength \u2013 then it talks about the richness of earth;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em><b>kali mikka sen nel kazhani &#8211; <\/b><\/em>\u00a0Having paddy fields that are bustling with ploughs, planting, reaping, etc., and thus growing beautiful grains;\u00a0 here, kali -&gt; bustling<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Or, \u2018<em>kali\u2019<\/em> -&gt; beautiful grains grown with strength and sumptuousness of earth;\u00a0 since they were planted at each appropriate time, they have grown with sumptuousness \u2013 such grains;<\/p>\n<p><em>kazhani \u2013 <\/em>paddy field;<\/p>\n<p><em><b>kuraiyal kalaip perumAn \u2013 <\/b><\/em>Since it is having such paddy fields with beautiful grains, as said in \u2018<em>manniya (n)seer thEngum kuRaiyalUr<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/01\/upadhesa-raththina-malai-30\/\">upadhEsa raththina mAlai &#8211; 30<\/a>]\u2019, &#8211; being the lord of thirukkuRaiyalUr having all types of wealth, he who is as said in \u2018<em>irunthamizh nUl pulavan<\/em> [periya thirumozhi \u2013 1.7.10]\u2019, helped by divining <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/\">dhivya prabandhams<\/a> which are a form of SAsthram \u2013 such extremely helpful <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/23\/thirumangai-azhwar\/\">thirumangai AzhvAr<\/a>\u2019s.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> divined in this prabandham also about this great help as \u2018<em>kuRaiyal pirAn adik keezh\u2019.\u00a0 <\/em>It is <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u00a0who are thankful for the help of emperumAnAr and thirumangai AzhvAr respectively; (or thirumangai AzhvAr thankful for the help of nammAzhvAr who made him the poet by giving thiruvAimozhi etc.) (or, nammAzhvAr thankful for the help of Sriya:pathi by giving non-blemished knowledge). <i>vamsam <\/i>-&gt; help.<\/p>\n<p><em><b>oli mikka pAdalai \u2013 <\/b><\/em>For those who get into enjoying the dhivya prabandhams authored by this great benefactor, that are said as \u2018<em>inbap pAdal<\/em> [periya thirumozhi &#8211; 2.5.10]\u2019 (sweet music\/song\/pAsuram), viz. thirumozhi, thirukkuRunthANdakam, thirunedunthANdakam, etc., would be overflowed with joy due to its richness of meanings, and its joy, and they would grow strong, and as said by \u2018<em>kaliyanadhu oli mAlai <\/em>[periya thirumozhi &#8211; 1.2.10]\u2019 (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/23\/thirumangai-azhwar\/\">kaliyan<\/a>&#8216;s garland of pAsurams of divine sound), since it has to be recited with big voice, those prabandhams having strong sound;<\/p>\n<p>For the thamizh vEdhams of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhvAr<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/23\/thirumangai-azhwar\/\">thirumangai AzhvAr<\/a> incarnated to author its six parts (<em>ARu angam kUra avadhariththa<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/12\/upadhesa-raththina-malai-9\/\">upadhEsa raththina mAlai &#8211; 9<\/a>]\u2019);<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> fully immersed in those prabandhams, considering them as life saving, nourishing, and enjoyment;<\/p>\n<p><em><b>than uLLam thadiththu \u2013 <\/b><\/em>due to the love out of such experience, his heart becomes exhilarated; due to that experience, he gets the strength to win the philosophers of opposing views; <em>thadiththu \u2013 <\/em>exhilaration.<\/p>\n<p><em><b>adhanAl vali mikka seeyam \u2013 <\/b><\/em>like a lion having the strength that is such complete knowledge;<\/p>\n<p><em><b>irAmAnusan \u2013 <\/b><\/em>such <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p>Since he does not tolerate to see the opposing philosophers and makes them lose, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> is saying he is \u2018<em>vali mikka seeyam\u2019<\/em>.\u00a0 <em>vali \u2013<\/em> strength; <em>seeyam \u2013 singam \u2013 <\/em>lion.<\/p>\n<p><em><b>maRai vAdhiyarAm \u2013 <\/b><\/em>Unlike those like baudhdhas who reject vEdhas as authoritative, the other groups while accepting vEdhas as authoritative, give wrong meanings to it, and engage in bad debates using those meanings, making the people of the world overwhelmed, and destroy their minds \u2013 such mis-interpreters of vEdhas;<\/p>\n<p><em><b>puli mikkadhu enRu \u2013 <\/b><\/em>that the tigers (those of other such philosophies) have grown in number; since there was no one to rule them, they were ruling the world themselves;<\/p>\n<p><em><b>ip puvanaththil vandhamai &#8211; <\/b><\/em>like how in the place where there are many rogue animals like tiger that hunt meek animals, a lion that would destroy such tigers would come in,\u00a0 in this world where many of other philosophies who wrong the true path of vEdhas lived, in the way he incarnated to wrong those other philosophies,<\/p>\n<p><em><b>pORRuvanE \u2013 <\/b><\/em>I shall praise (such ways).\u00a0 As said in \u2018<em>gurum prakASayEth dheemAn\u2019<\/em> (shall bring to light the glories of guru\/AchAryan), I shall praise the qualities and acts of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> \u2013 thus spake <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From AzhwAr thirunagari SrI u.vE. vidhwAn thirumalai nallAn chakravarththi rAmakrishNa iyengAr\u2019s \u2018<\/strong><em><b>amudha virundhu<\/b><\/em><strong>\u2019 :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><b>kalaip perumAn \u2013 <\/b><\/em>Having the glory of giving the SAsthrams (kalai \u2013 SAsthram (thamizh)). He is \u2018<em>irunthamizh nUl pulavan<\/em> [periya thirumozhi \u2013 1.7.10]\u2019, that is, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/23\/thirumangai-azhwar\/\">thirumangai AzhvAr<\/a> is an expert in the beautiful thamizh prabandhams of <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> and other prabandha SAsthrams; so he is having the glory of writing the prabandhams which came to explain those other prabandhams. What is referred to as \u2018<em>irunthamizh nUl\u2019, <\/em>are the prabandhams of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhvAr<\/a>. This is seen by the divine words of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhvAr<\/a> itself, in \u2018<em>en nenjaththuL irundhu ingu irunthamizh nUl ivai mozhindhu<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 10.6.4]\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The word <em><b>\u2018kalai\u2019<\/b><\/em> is used in other prabandhams to refer to the prabandhams that are equivalent to parts (<em>angam<\/em>) that came to explain vEdhas; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> too uses the same word here to refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/23\/thirumangai-azhwar\/\">thirumangai AzhvAr<\/a>\u2019s six prabandhams that are equivalent to the six parts which explain vEdhas.<\/p>\n<p><em><b>oli mikka pAdal \u2013 <\/b><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/23\/thirumangai-azhwar\/\">thirumangai AzhvAr<\/a>\u2019s prabandhams contain a lot of rhythmic sounds; oli -&gt; sound \/ bouncy phrases; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/23\/thirumangai-azhwar\/\">AzhvAr<\/a> himself has said this as \u2018<em>oli kezhu pAdal<\/em> <em>\u2019 <\/em>[periya thirumozhi &#8211; 11.4.10], in the last pAsuram of the padhikam of \u2013 \u2018<em>nilai idam engum inRi<\/em> [periya thirumozhi \u2013 11.4]\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><em><b>uNdu than uLLam thadiththu \u2013<\/b><\/em> as he said <strong>uNdu <\/strong>(ate), those prabandhams are life saving for <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\">maNavALa mAmunigaL<\/a> said, \u2018<em><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">mARan<\/a> kalai uNavAgap peRROm<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/05\/arththi-prabandham\/\">Arththi prabandham<\/a> &#8211; 55]\u2019 (we have got <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhvAr<\/a>&#8216;s prabandhams for\/as our food) , and so they are also enjoyable due to their sweetness.<\/p>\n<p><em><b>adhanAl vali mikka seeyam irAmAnusan \u2013 <\/b><\/em>When bheemasEnan was thrown in to the Ganges by dhuryOdhanan, he went to <em>pAthALa lOkam,<\/em> and drank pots and pots of nectar and got the strength of twelve thousand elephants; so does <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> become a strong lion by drinking thousands of pAsurams that are like nectar;<\/p>\n<p><em><b>maRai vAdhiyarAm puli &#8230; pORRuvan \u2013 <\/b><\/em>those who wish to follow vEdhas can escape from those who reject vEdhas as authoritative reference; but those philosophers who misinterpret vEdhas are like tiger in sheep\u2019s cloth and their changes are regrettable, and it is hard to escape from them and it creates severe damage. In this way since they indirectly jump on our ways and destroy us they are compared to tigers.<\/p>\n<p>This matches with what is said in <em>Sankalpa sUryOdhayam \u2013 \u2018anyairAmnAya charchA kavachadhruthi kanathgOmukhair dhveepibhiScha\u2019<\/em> (due to wearing the armor that is research of vEdhas, they are tigers wearing the face of a cow..);<\/p>\n<p>Even if there are tigers many in number, one lion would finish them off; in the same way even though there were many of those other philosophies, one <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> could win them such that they do not rear their head ever again.
