previous (poyyaich churakkum)<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Introduction (given by <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\"><strong>maNavALa mAmunigaL<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> was sad seeing the state of <em>samsAris<\/em> who did not accept surrendering to this matter \u2013 that was in previous pAsuram;\u00a0 When asked \u2018What is it the state you are in?\u2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> replies, \u2018I will serve those who consider as their destiny, the people who consider this matter (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s divine feet) as their destiny, like in \u2018<em>ozhivil kAlam ellAm<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/08\/thiruvaimozhi-3-3-1-ozhivil-kalam\/\">thiruvAimozhi &#8211; 3.3.1<\/a>]\u2019 (at all times without break) \u2013 this in this pAsuram.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Introduction (given by <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/08\/pillai-lokam-jiyar\/\"><strong>piLLailOkam jIyar<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In the previous pAsuram, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> talked about the state of those in this world that instigates ignorance, who have sunken due to searching everywhere and floundering looking for some other god who might save them, by not accepting to surrender to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>, even though <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> is there who has won the bad philosophies and established the true path of vEdhas.<\/p>\n<p>In this pAsuram &#8211; unlike such people, those who are most distinguished compared to them, and not forgetting at any time and also being devotional and loving towards the supreme souls who always have reliance on <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> \u2013 I shall do services <em>only<\/em> to such devotees\u00a0 whatever few they may be &#8211; at all times, at all states, and of all types, and using all faculties of body, and under everyone\u2019s knowledge about it (serve together) \u2013 says <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> about his state.<\/p>\n<p><em>nallAr paravum irAmAnusan thirunAmam namba<\/em><br \/>\n<em>vallAr thiRaththai maRavAdhavargaL yavar avarkkE<\/em><br \/>\n<em>ellA idaththilum enRum eppOdhilum eththozhumbum<\/em><br \/>\n<em>sollAl manaththAl karumaththinAl seyvan sOrvinRiyE\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; 2.9.4<\/a>]\u2019 (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> should accept my service only for His benefit\/enjoyment),<br \/>\n<em>sOrvinRich cheyvan \u2013 <\/em>will do without any separate enjoyment (<em>pruthak rasam)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>When some recite as \u2018<em>vallAr thiRaththai <strong><u>madhiy<\/u><\/strong>AdhavargaL\u2019<\/em> , then \u2018<em>madhiththu\u2019 <\/em>\u00a0to mean limiting the level of their devotion, and so this phrase to mean, those who do not look at limits of the level of their ways.<\/p>\n<p><em>nambu \u2013 <\/em>having faith; \u2018<em>anantha:prathamam rUpam lakshmaNasthu thatha:param \u2013 balapadhra: thrutheeyasthu kalau rAmAnujas smrutha:\u2019<\/em> (incarnated in krutha yugam as thiruvananthAzhvAn, in thrEthA yugam as lakshmaNAn, in dhvApara yugam as balarAman, and he will incarnate as <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/&lt;a href='https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/&lt;a href='https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/&lt;a href='https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/'&gt;emperumAnAr&lt;\/a&gt;\/'&gt;&lt;a href='https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/'&gt;emperumAnAr&lt;\/a&gt;&lt;\/a&gt;\/'&gt;&lt;a href='https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/&lt;a href='https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/'&gt;emperumAnAr&lt;\/a&gt;\/'&gt;&lt;a href='https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/'&gt;emperumAnAr&lt;\/a&gt;&lt;\/a&gt;&lt;\/a&gt;\/\">rAmAnujar<\/a> in kali yugam)<\/p>\n<p>As said in \u2018<em>arvAnchO yath padha sarasija dhvanthvamASrithya pUrvE mUrdhnA yasyAnvayamupagathA dhESikA mukthi mApu: &#8211; sOyam rAmAnuja munirapi\u2019, <\/em>(Those who are after <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> would survive by relation with his divine feet, and those before him would survive by relation of his divine head), all the noble ones, from their respective places, due to subservience to their love (<em>prEma paravaSar<\/em>), would praise <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Such <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s \u2013<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>thirunAmam namba vallAr thiRaththai \u2013 \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><em>thirunAmam : <\/em>divine name (of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>); <a href=\"http:\/\/sriperumbuthur.koyil.org\">SrIperumbUthUr<\/a> , <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mudhaliyandan\/\">mudhaliyANdAn<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/purushamangalam.koyil.org\">h<\/a><\/em><em>aritha vAraNa puram (Nazarethpettai))<\/em><\/p>\n<p>(SAsthram shows that we should follow what the preceptors like the aforementioned have done) :-<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>yathA thE thathra varthEran, thathA thathra varthEthA: athAbhyAkhyA thEshu\u2018, <\/em>(in the ways of AchAryan \u00a0what he speaks, where he lives, do services to him till the end)<em>, \u00a0<\/em>and,<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018yAnyasmAkagum sucharithAni, thAni thvayOpAsyAni \u2018 <\/em>(what are to be followed by you are whatever the ancestors have done)<em>, \u2018nO itharANi\u2019 <\/em>(there is no other shelter for us)<em>,\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018yE kE chAsmachchrEyagumSo brAhmaNA:\u2019 <\/em>and<em> \u00a0\u2018thAni thvayOpAsyAni\u2019,<\/em><\/p>\n<p>and,<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>yanthvAdhyA: kriyamANam praSamSanthi svadharma yam\u00a0 vigarhasi sOdharma <\/em>(what the preceptors say as correct path (dharma) is the correct path; what they show as adharmam is adharmam),<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018 vEdha SAsthra rathA rUdA: gyAna kadga dharAdhvijA: kreedArthamapi yath brUyu: sa dharma na \u00a0ithara smrutha:\u2019 <\/em>(preceptor climbing the chariot that is vEdha SAsthram, with the big knife that is knowledge, whatever he says even as humor is dharmam),<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018yAm thvEshAm svairakathA: thA Esha bhavanthi SasthrANi samaya niyatha sAdhu vruthyA samEdham\u2019 <\/em>(even if such preceptors say something casually, that would end up being SAsthram to be followed);<\/p>\n<p>As said in \u2018<em>parigrAhyam pUrvAchAryargaLudaiya vachanamum anushtAnamum <\/em>[SrIvachana bhUshaNam]\u2019 (~what preceptors said you say that, what they do, you do),<\/p>\n<p>in these thousand ways that show the state of intellect and corresponding actions of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s disciples;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/emperumAnAr-signature.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10332\" src=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/emperumAnAr-signature.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"297\" height=\"55\" \/><\/a>the divine name rAmAnuSan as written by svAmi himself<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>maRavAdhavargaL yavar \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>As said in \u2018<em>svAdhyAyAnmA pramadha: <\/em>(do not skip even one day from reciting vEdhas)<em>, <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>AchAryAyapriyam dhana mAhruthya prajA thanthum mAvyavachchEthSee:<\/em> (earn the wealth (service) that is dear to AchAryan, stay with him at all times for doing service)<em>, <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018sathyAnna pramadhi thavyam, dharmAnna\u00a0 pramadhi thavyam\u2019<\/em> (mind, speech, and body should be aligned \u2013 do not deviate from it; do not deviate from what SAsthram said as dharmam)<em>, <\/em><\/p>\n<p>and so<\/p>\n<p>instead of forgetting those (noble ones) due to weakness of faith, whatever few ones who are always thinking of the devotees of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p>To begin with <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> meditates upon <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s divine name as said in \u2018<em>nenjE solluvOm avan nAmangaLE<\/em>\u2019 (oh mind! let us recite his names),<\/p>\n<p>and he advises to people of the world as he said in \u2018<em>irAmAnusan enRu solluminE<\/em>\u2019 (say (the name of) <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>),<\/p>\n<p>and he made it as a prabandham (this prabandham) about <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> for all the prapannas to recite about him as said in \u2018<em>sayam tharu keerththi irAmAnusa muni thAL iNai mEl uyarndha guNaththuth thiruvarangaththu amudhu Ongum anbal iyambum kaliththuRai anthAdhi Odha <\/em>[rAmAnusan nURRanthAdhi thaniyan]<em>\u2019\u00a0<\/em>(oh mind! please accept to recite the rAmAnusa nURRanthAdhi)\u00a0 &#8211; for me to get such capability\/interest, they reformed me who was like a barren land (<em>karunthaRai<\/em>); they are the ones like <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\">AzhvAn<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p>When recited as \u2018<strong><em>namba vallAr thiRaththai <u>madhiyA<\/u>dhavargaL\u2019\u00a0 &#8211; <\/em><\/strong>it shall mean &#8211; those who do consider the limits in the ways of those who have the state of conviction on <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s divine name;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>avarkkE \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>Avoiding doing in a common way that is both for the happiness in their face, and for my survival &#8211; doing it with staunchness that it is <strong>only<\/strong> for the happiness in their face as my destiny, as said in \u2018<em>thanakk<strong>E<\/strong>yAga <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/06\/thiruvaimozhi-2-9-4-enakke-atchey\/\">thiruvAimozhi &#8211; 2.9.4<\/a>]\u2019 (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> should accept my service only for His benefit\/enjoyment);\u00a0 from the \u2018<strong>E<\/strong>\u2019 in \u2018<strong><em>avarkkE\u2019<\/em> \u2013<\/strong> this meaning of \u2018only\u2019 is formed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>ellA idaththilum enRum eppOdhilum <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; As said in \u2018<em>sarvEshu dhESa kAlEshu sarvAvasthAsu sAchyutha \u2013 kinkarOsmi\u2019<\/em> (all, all places and time, in all situations I wish to be able to serve you), and in \u2018<em>ozhivil kAlam ellAm<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/08\/thiruvaimozhi-3-3-1-ozhivil-kalam\/\">thiruvAimozhi &#8211; 3.3.1<\/a>]\u2019 (at all times without break, being always with you in all states\/situations), and in \u2018<em>kAlam sakalamapi sarvathra sakalAsu avasthAsu Avisyur mama\u2019<\/em> (at all times, all places and in all ways let me be a servant for You)\u2013 like how the involvement was in <em>prathama vishayam <\/em>(emperumAn),\u00a0 since He himself divined \u2013 \u2018<em>thasmAth madhbhaktha bhakthAScha pUjaneeyA viSEshatha: &#8211; math bakthaissahasam vAsa:\u2019<\/em> (so my devotees and their devotees are to be worshiped; so you stay with them and worship them)<em>, <\/em>and,<em> \u2018thasmai dhEyam thathOgrAhyam sacha pUjyOyathAhyaham <\/em>[kaNNan\u2019s words in gAurda purANam]<em>\u2019 <\/em>(whoever wishes to do services to me, see them, they are my devotees)<em>, <\/em><\/p>\n<p>in all the places, at all times, and in all situations;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>ellA idaththilum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>in all the places<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>enRum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>in whichever place you are in (mountain, forest, or ocean) <em>(avasthai)<\/em>,<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>eppOdhilum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>at all times.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>sollAl manaththAl karumaththinAl \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>by these three; in all the three of <em>manO (<\/em>mind), <em>vAk <\/em>(speech), and <em>kAyam <\/em>(body\/physically);\u00a0 by <strong><em>sol,<\/em> <\/strong>and<strong> <em>karumam <\/em><\/strong>(words, actions), it identifies corresponding faculties, that is, speech and body.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>eththozhumbum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>in whatever form, any type of service\/subservience; \u00a0in any situation;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>sOrvinRiyE &#8211; <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0As prayed in \u2018<em>vazhuvilA adimai seyya vENdum nAm<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/08\/thiruvaimozhi-3-3-1-ozhivil-kalam\/\">thiruvAimozhi &#8211; 3.3.1<\/a>]<em>\u2019 <\/em>(we shall do services without any blemishes\/deviation), without any break\/deviation; <em>sOrvu \u2013 <\/em>deviation;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>seyvan \u00ad\u2013 <\/em><\/strong>I shall do.<\/p>\n<p>Among those three, \u00a0even within each of them, I shall do all kind of service by using each faculty of the body &#8211; says <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018<em>vAcha yatheendhra manasA vapushA cha yushmath pAdhAravindha yugaLam bhajathAm gurUNAm \u2013 kUrAdhinAtha kurugESamukAdhya pumsAm pAdhAnu chinthanaparas sathatham bhavEyam\u2019 [<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/08\/yathiraja-vimsathi-3\/\">yathirAja vimSathi &#8211; 3<\/a><em>] <\/em>is how <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\">jeeyar<\/a> also has prayed.<\/p>\n<p>Thus <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> expressed his staunchness of service as said in \u2018<em>nanRum thiru udaiyOm nAnilaththil evvuyirkkum \u2013 onRum kuRai illai OdhinOm, kunRam eduththAn adi sEr irAmAnusan thAL \u2013 pidiththAr pidiththAraip paRRi <\/em>[by <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/pillai-urangavilli-dhasar\/\">piLLai uRangAvilli dhAsar<\/a> in <em>iyal sARRu<\/em>]<em>\u2019 <\/em>(we have the blessing of pirAttiyAr in this world, there is no shortcoming for anyone, we who hold on to the divine feet of those who hold on to the divine feet of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> who holds on to the divine feet of the One who lifted gOvardhana mountain)<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>From AzhwAr thirunagari SrI u.vE. vidhwAn thirumalai nallAn chakravarththi rAmakrishNa iyengAr\u2019s \u2018<em>amudha virundhu<\/em>\u2019 :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Let <em>samsAris\u2019 <\/em>state be so. What is your state?\u00a0 Replying to those asking so &#8211; I have not stopped at the stage of taking <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> as god. I got the attainment of state of doing service without any break to those who consider as their god the people who consider <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> as their god \u2013 says <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>nallAr paravum irAmAnusan \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>those in any place and at any time \u2013 even in the past \u2013 who have praised <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> due to their love for him;\u00a0 vyAsa said <em>\u2018kalau kaSchith bhavishyathi\u2019<\/em> (there is going to be one (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>) born in kali yugam), and <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhvAr<\/a> said, \u2018<em>kaliyum kedum kaNdu koNmin<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 5.2.1]\u2019 (~(due to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s birth) bad effects of kali yugam will be nullified &#8211; you shall see).<\/p>\n<p>There are two main 4-letter names \u2013 <em>nArAyaNa <\/em>which is <em>prathama parvam, <\/em>and <em>rAmAnuja<\/em> which is <em>charama parvam.<\/em> To show the greatness of the second name, it includes a special qualification as \u2018<em>chathurA\u2019 <\/em>\u00a0<em>chathuraksharee\u2019.<\/em>\u00a0 While <em>nArAyana <\/em>can give the joy of SrIvaikuNtam as well as ties of material world, the word <em>rAmAnuja <\/em>gives only the joy of SrIvaikuNtam \u2013 thus it has got this special skill.<\/p>\n<p><strong>{translator\u2019s note<\/strong>: <em>chathuryati<\/em> <em>\u00a0<\/em>could mean \u2018wish for four of anything\u2019. Here we wish for four letters of the name <em>rAmAnuja<\/em><strong>}<\/strong> .<\/p>\n<p>No need to consider their clan or <em>gOthram<\/em> (lineage of birth)<em>, <\/em>if one is always thinking without forgetting, the great ways of those having staunch faith in rAmAnuja manthram, \u00a0then I will do all kinds of service only to them, says <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhvAr<\/a> says about himself, \u2018<em>thirumAl thiruppEr vallAr adik kaNNi sUdiya mARan<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhvAr<\/a> who wears the garland that is divine feet of the devotees who are well versed in the names of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> who is the husband of lakshmI]\u2019 (thiruviruththam &#8211; 100); but <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> says that he would be subservient to those who always remembers those who have faith in the divine name rAmAnujar, and thus talks about his greatness being one level up.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>eppOdhilum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>in all levels\/states. Whichever level\/state I may be in.
