Would you return to your old ways?&#8221; and he replies &#8220;Is <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s grace so insignificant that it would let me return to my old ways?&#8221;.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/periyavachan-pillai-english\/\">periyavAchchAn piLLai<\/a> highlights the same principle as <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/16\/nampillai-english\/\">nampiLLai<\/a>. Moreover he says, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s grace is different from <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a>&#8216;s grace. <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a>&#8216;s grace is such that there is a possibility of falling down from bhakthi nishtai as <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> himself mentions in gIthA 6.41 &#8220;<em>suchInAm srImathAm gEhE yOgabrashtO(a)bijAyathE<\/em>&#8221; (One who falls from his yOgam\/faith becomes born in the families of pure and virtuous families (to continue his faith from where he left)). In vishNu purANam 2.13.29 &#8220;<em>samAdhi bangas thasyAsIth<\/em>&#8220;, it is highlighted that the saintly bharatha mahArAja (king) lost his focus on <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> due to attachment towards a deer even though he was completely detached from his kingdom, wealth, family, etc.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/12\/15\/azhagiya-manavala-perumal-nayanar\/\">azhagiya maNavALa perumaL nAyanAr<\/a> highlights that <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> explains his lowly nature, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> accepting him due to that aspect alone, his defects being removed due to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s grace and finally him developing attachment towards <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s lotus feet in the <a title=\"kaNNinuN chiRu thAmbu 5 \u2013 nambinEn\" href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/?p=1331\">previous pAsuram<\/a>. Some asked <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> &#8211; even though your worldly attachments are removed, due to being present in this material world, would you not return to your old ways? <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> replies &#8220;I did not get rid of my attachments by performing austerities. They were removed by <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s acceptance of me. Since <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s acceptance of me would never change, my material attachments would not return to me&#8221;. In the <a title=\"kaNNinuN chiRu thAmbu 5 \u2013 nambinEn\" href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/?p=1331\">previous pAsuram<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> revealed his gyAnam and bhakthi towards <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s lotus feet. He would not give up on me ever and you can see this for yourself.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights from <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/14\/nanjiyar-english\/\">nanjIyar<\/a>&#8216;s vyAkyAnam:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>inRu<\/em> &#8211; from today &#8211; from the day when I developed taste towards <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a>&#8216;s devotee (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>) instead of <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><em>ninRu<\/em> &#8211; with full conviction. <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> says &#8220;<em>mAnidam pAda vantha kaviyEnallEn<\/em>&#8221; (I am not a simple poet who would sing the glories of mortal humans) in thiruvAimozhi 3.9.9. But\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> says He would not sing the glories of <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> but only <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s glories.<\/li>\n<li><em>kunRa mAdath thirukkurukUr nambi<\/em> &#8211; just like we cannot fully understand <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s completeness, we cannot see the full height of the balconies\/palaces in <a href=\"http:\/\/azhwarthirunagari.koyil.org\">AzhwArthirunagari<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Highlights from <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/16\/nampillai-english\/\">nampiLLai<\/a>&#8216;s eedu vyAkyAnam:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>inRu thottum<\/em> &#8211; from today itself. It is not something which will happen in the future. It starts from the day when <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> accepts\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> as his disciple\/devotee.<\/li>\n<li><em>ezhumaiyum <\/em>&#8211; seven births &#8211; upalakshaNam (sample) &#8211; implies forever in the future<\/li>\n<li><em>empirAn<\/em> &#8211; pirAn &#8211; upakAraka (one who gives favours). <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> identifies <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> as &#8220;<em>pirAn perunilam kINdavan<\/em>&#8221; (the one who gave great favour by rescuing mother earth) in thiruvAimozhi 1.7.6.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> identifies <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> as the one who did great favours to him by rescuing him from samsAram.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>kunRa mAdath thirukkurukUr<\/em>&#8221; &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s heart is firmly placed in <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s words &#8211; in thiruvAimozhi 4.10.1 <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> says &#8220;<em>kunRam pOl maNi mAda nIdu thirukkurukUr<\/em>&#8221; (same meaning) &#8211; so\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> repeats the same here.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>enRuminnai igazhivilan kANminE<\/em>&#8221; &#8211; If <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> can accept me with all my defects, why would he let me return to my old ways?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Highlights from <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/periyavachan-pillai-english\/\">periyavAchchAn piLLai<\/a>&#8216;s vyAkyAnam:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This vyAkyAnam is mostly based on <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/16\/nampillai-english\/\">nampiLLai<\/a>&#8216;s vyAkyAnam.<\/li>\n<li><em>aruLinAn<\/em> &#8211; Like <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> says in thiruvAimozhi 1.1.1 &#8220;<em>mayarvaRa madhinalam aruLinan<\/em>&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> blessed me with blemishless knowledge\/devotion),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> says <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> blessed him with blemishless knowledge\/devotion.<\/li>\n<li><em>kANiminE<\/em> &#8211; you see for yourself. This is prathyaksham (perceivable by our own senses) &#8211; can be easily perceived. Do I have to even explicitly say this?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Highlights from <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/12\/15\/azhagiya-manavala-perumal-nayanar\/\">azhagiya maNavALa perumaL nAyanAr<\/a>&#8216;s vyAkyanam:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>ezhumaiyum<\/em> &#8211; forever. Even when\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> goes to parampadham, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> is his master. Like srI sathrugnAzhwAn who followed srI bharathAzhwAn (when he went to his uncle&#8217;s place),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> is also nithya sathrugna: (one who is always victorious against even the biggest enemies). Please read <a href=\"http:\/\/ponnadi.blogspot.in\/2013\/12\/virodhi-pariharangal-1.html\">http:\/\/ponnadi.blogspot.in\/2013\/12\/virodhi-pariharangal-1.html<\/a> (point 9) to see how bhagavath kainkaryam is a hurdle for bhAgavatha kainkaryam.<\/li>\n<li><em>empirAn<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> is repeating the words heard from <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> in thiruvAimozhi 1.10.3 &#8220;<em>empirAnai enthai thanthai thanthaikkum thampirAnai<\/em>&#8220;. pirAn means proprietor\/owner. Emphasising that he will be the property of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> only &#8211; not partially\/sometimes for bhagavAn and partially\/sometimes for <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><em>empirAn &#8211; <\/em>one who has done great favours. He has done the favour of keeping me as his own servant instead of sending me away to serve <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><em>Eththa<\/em> &#8211; to glorify. <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> started periya thirvuanthAdhi saying that he starts trying to praise <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> but in the last pAsuram he still says &#8220;<em>moykazhalE Ettha muyal<\/em>&#8221; (try to glorify <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a>&#8216;s lotus feet). But he blessed me so I can praise him in every pAsuram of this prabandham.<\/li>\n<li><em>than pugazhEththa aruLinAn<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s aruL (mercy) is his upAyam (means) and singing the glories of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> is his purushArththam (ultimate goal).<\/li>\n<li><em>ninRu than pugazhEththa<\/em> &#8211; steadily glorifying. In srI rAmAyaNam, bAla kANdam 1.7, nAradha rishi says &#8220;<em>munE! vakshyAmyaham budhdhvA<\/em>&#8221; (oh saint (vAlmIki rishi)! Let me explain clear\/steady mind about srI rAma&#8217;s auspicious qualities). nAradha rishi went into a trance meditating on srI rAma&#8217;s qualities, but before speaking about the same, he first steadied himself.
