previous (<em>gyAnam kanindha nalam koNDu<\/em>)<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Introduction (given by <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\"><strong>maNavALa mAmunigaL<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In previous pAsurams <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> divined about greatness of knowledge propagated by <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>, and his greatness of giving <em>mOksham.<\/em> In this pAsuram \u2013 if <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> had not protected us by commanding with his teachings that the faculties\/senses of the body which are for surrendering to emperumAn should not transgress &#8211; then who could have been the protector of this <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA<\/a> \u2013 so thinks <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> to himself and is joyful.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Introduction (given by <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/08\/pillai-lokam-jiyar\/\"><strong>piLLailOkam jIyar<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In the previous two pAsurams, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> divined about greatness of knowledge propagated by <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>, and his greatness of giving <em>mOksham, <\/em><\/p>\n<p>and in this pAsuram \u2013 when you were without distinction from non-sentient (during the time of annihilated state of worlds), where you were unable to enjoy anything or get <em>mOksham, <\/em>He made you to be eligible to reach the destiny, after the time of annihilation you were given hands, legs, etc.; so do not transgress from the intended use of those senses, surrender to <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">sarvESvaran<\/a>, and get the destiny &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>if <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> had not protected us by this advice looking at the <em>samsAri <\/em>(people involved in worldly matters) who are being servants of their bodily senses, then who could have been the protector of the sentient\u00a0 &#8211; saying so, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> becomes happy thinking about the greatest help of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>charaNam adaindha dharumanukkA paNdu nURRuvarai<\/em><br \/>\n<em>maraNam adaiviththa mAyavan thannai vaNaga vaiththa<\/em><br \/>\n<em>karaNam ivai umakku anRu enRu irAmAnusan uyirgatku <\/em><br \/>\n<em>araN angu amaiththilanEl\u00a0 araN Ar maRRu iv AruyirkkE<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a067<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/yourlisten.com\/sarathy.thothathri\/ramanusa-nurranthadhi-67\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Listen<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><iframe src=\"\/\/yourlisten.com\/embed\/html5?17634131\" frameborder=\"0\" style='width:100%;'><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Word by word meaning (given by <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\"><strong>maNavALa mAmunigaL<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em>charaNam adaindha \u2013 <\/em>he who did not say \u2018<em>na namEyam<\/em>\u2019 (rAvaNan saying even his dead body won&#8217;t fall on perumAL&#8217;s feet), using the faculties of the body that He Himself gave, but surrendered to Him,<br \/>\n<em>dharumanukkA \u2013 <\/em>for such <em>dharmaputhran<\/em> <em>(yudhishtiran),<\/em><br \/>\n<em>paNdu \u2013 <\/em>during the time long ago,<\/p>\n<p>those who troubled His devotees, and saying \u2018would not worship Him\u2019,<br \/>\n<em>nURRuvarai \u2013 <\/em>that is, <em>dhuryOdhanan, <\/em>all the hundred (<em>kauravas)<\/em><br \/>\n<em>maraNam adaiviththa \u2013<\/em> (krishNan) <em>\u00a0<\/em>made them get death<br \/>\n<em>mAyavan \u2013 <\/em>such <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">sarvESvaran<\/a> who possesses astonishing powers;<\/p>\n<p>(<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>,)<br \/>\n<em>angu \u2013 <\/em>during the time (of <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmAs<\/a>) transgressing using the senses of the body<br \/>\n<em>umakku anRu \u2013 <\/em>(advised) that these are not for serving yourselves,<br \/>\n<em>thannai vaNanga vaiththa \u2013 <\/em>(He) gave, as equipment for surrendering to Him,<br \/>\n<em>karaNam ivai \u2013 <\/em>these senses of the body;<br \/>\n<em>enRu \u2013 <\/em>in this way using positive and negative aspects of it, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> showed clearly the use of senses as not for using them other than for emperumAn;<br \/>\n<em>iraAmAnusan \u2013 (<\/em>if<em>) <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>,<br \/>\n<em>amaiththilanEl \u2013 <\/em>had not created<br \/>\n<em>araN \u2013 <\/em>protection<br \/>\n<em>uyirgatku \u2013 <\/em>for the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmAs<\/a>, (by so advising)<br \/>\n<em>araN Ar \u2013<\/em> \u00a0who would be the protector<br \/>\n<em>iv Aruyirkku \u2013 <\/em>for this <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Implied that there is no one else.<\/p>\n<p>Can also read together as \u2018<em>mAyavan thannai vaNanga vaiththa\u2019 <\/em>((senses are kept for) worshiping <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><em>charaNam adaindha dharumanukkA \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>unlike rAvaNan who did not agree even when periya pirAttiyAr who is said as \u2018<em>rAgavathvE abhavath seethA\u2019 <\/em>(periya pirAttiyAr who incarnates along with <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> each time, incarnated as seethA with rAghavan), herself, had, directly, one-on-one, advised him \u2018<em>vidhithas sahi dharmagya: SaraNAgatha vathsala: thEna maithree bhavathuthE yadhi jeevithumichchaSi\u2019<\/em> (It is well known that rAman knows <em>dharmam<\/em> (kindness) very well; (He is the) protector of those who surrender to him; go and identify yourself as his friend and hold his hands \u2013 if you wish to continue living), and unlike saying <em>\u2018na namEyam\u2019<\/em>,<\/p>\n<p><em>dharmaputhran<\/em> and other <em>pANdavas <\/em>surrendered krishNAn as said in \u2018<em>dhraupadhyA sahidhas sarvE namaSchakrur janArdhdhanam\u2019,<\/em> (along with dhraupadhI they prostrated before kaNNan <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a>) and, \u2018<em>krishNaSrya: krishNa bAlA: krishNA nAthAScha pANdavA:\u2019<\/em> (pANdavas who surrendered to krishNan, considered krishNan only as their strength, krishNan only as their lord);<\/p>\n<p>for them \u2013<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>paNdu nURRuvarai <\/em><\/strong><em>\u2013 <\/em>since <em>dhvApara yugam<\/em> was much earlier to him,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> is saying <em>\u2018<strong>paNdu\u2019<\/strong><\/em><strong> \u2013 <\/strong>old times.<\/p>\n<p>During such old time, in <em>mAhAbhAratham,<\/em> those who were referred to by count as \u2018the hundred\u2019, the <em>kaurvavas <\/em>starting from <em>dhuryOdhanan.<\/em> All of them \u2013<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>maraNam adaiviththa \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>as said in \u2018<em>mayaivaidhE nihathA: pUrvamEva nimiththa mAthram bhavasavyasAchin<\/em> [<a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/\">SrI bhagavath gIthA<\/a>]<em>\u2019 <\/em>(They were killed by me only; you can be just a weapon (I have already killed their strength))<em>,<\/em>\u00a0 \u2018<em>kAlOsmi lOka kshaya kruth pravruththa: <\/em>[<a href=\"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/\">SrI bhagavath gIthA<\/a>]<em>\u2019 <\/em>(krishNan saying during giving viSvarUpa dharSanam to arjunan) I am Time, I kill everyone in this world)<em>, <\/em><\/p>\n<p>krishNan got them death; that is, got the kauravas killed;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>mAyavan \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>making day as night, dropping the vow of \u201cwon\u2019t touch weapon\u201d\u00a0 and taking weapon, stopping arjunan who wanted to avoid war, advised him in many ways , and made him say \u2018<em>karishyE vachanam thava\u2019 <\/em>(I will do as you say) , without minding His greatness, being happy for his devotees, for all of the world to witness He performed lowly acts as charioteer, etc., \u2013 having such surprising acts &#8211; krishNan;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>thannai vaNanga vaiththa karaNam ivai \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>As said in \u2018<em>vichithrA dhEha sampaththi: eeSvarAya nivEdhitham \u2013 pUrvamEva kruthA brahman hastha pAdhAdhi samyuthA\u2019<\/em> (~ after annihilation at the start of creation, long ago, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> created sentient with arms, legs, etc.,), and \u2018<em>jihvE keerththaya kESavam, muraribum chEthO bhaja, SrIdharam pANithvandhva samarchchaya, achyutha kadhAm SrOthra dhvaya thvam SruNu \u2013 krushNam lOkaya lOchana dhvaya, harE: gachchAngri yugmAlayam, jigra grANa mukundha pAdha thuLaSeem, mUrdhdhan namAdhOkShajam\u201d <\/em>, (Oh tongue! sing about kEsavan;\u00a0 Oh mind! worship murAri that is krishNan;\u00a0 Oh arms! pay homage to SrIdharan; Oh the two ears! always hear the stories of achyuthan; Oh the two eyes! always see kaNNan;\u00a0 Oh the two legs! walk only to Hari\u2019s temple; oh nose!\u00a0 smell only the thiruththuzhAy from kaNNan\u2019s divine feet;\u00a0 oh head! use of having head is to prostrate upon kaNNan\u2019s divine feet ),<\/p>\n<p>the senses of the body created by <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">sarvESvaran<\/a> for serving His divine feet.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>umakku anRu enRu \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>in this way using the faculties\/senses of the body given for liberating from the material world, like misusing the float given for crossing the river to instead go with the flood, they toil based on directions of their body (<em>Akkai vazhi uzhanRu)<\/em>, and take it upon themselves to go for some remedies or the other (<em>yAdhAnum paRRi neengum viratham<\/em>) \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> addressing such people: <strong><em>umakku anRu enRu \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> told that these senses of the body are) not meant for you to use for involving in this material world;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>irAmAnusan \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>this <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>uyirgatku &#8211; <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0it is not meaningful to advice to the non-sentient!\u00a0 These <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmAs<\/a> are having the life\/breathing,\u00a0 and so not able to tolerate their degradation, due to his ultimate kindness, addressing the sentient, he says that the senses of your body are not for you to use for yourself;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>araN angu amaiththilanEl \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>in that place (where they used their senses for themselves), he advised based on the nature\/temperament of individuals who were disillusioned about the separation of body and <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA<\/a>, and by writing text through SrI bAshyam, etc., and for their mind to fully get it he established that through his disciples, through positive (senses are for service to Him), and negative (senses are not for you) ways &#8211; if <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> had not preached this \u2013<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/mahabharat.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13259\" src=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/mahabharat.jpg\" alt=\"mahabharat\" width=\"456\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/mahabharat.jpg 456w, https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/mahabharat-300x166.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 456px) 100vw, 456px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>iv Ar uyirkku \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>As said in \u2018<em>Evam samsruthi chakrasthE bhrAmyamANEsva karmabhi:\u2019 \u00a0<\/em>(like the wheel the sentient would go in cycles in this material world due to their karmas), \u00a0for the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmAs<\/a> who are drowning in the sea that is material world;\u00a0 (if <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> had not saved them by advice etc.,)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>araN Ar \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>is there any other protection?\u00a0\u00a0 As said in \u2018<em>kShEmassa Evahi yatheendhra bhavachrithAnAm<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/10\/yathiraja-vimsathi-tamil\/\">yathirAja vimSathi<\/a>]\u2019 (we prayed for <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a>\u2019s kindness, and you got that from Him for us, that is our wellness), and \u2018<em>dhathE rangee nijam abibatham dhESikA dhESAkAngkShee<\/em>\u2019 (whoever Is having love for SrIvaikuNtam, for all of them <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> got that from the divine feet of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">SrI ranganAthan<\/a>) \u2013 it is established that only your divine self is the protector.<\/p>\n<p>It is but said, \u2018<em>na chEth rAmAnujEth yEshA chathurA chathurAkshari | kAmavasthAm prapadhyanthE janthavO hantha mAdhrusa:<\/em> [varavaramuni mukthakam \u2013 5 \/ uththara dhinacharyA \u2013 20]\u2019<\/p>\n<p>(Oh! If there was no \u2018rAmAnujA\u2019 the most prudent four lettered manthra, what (terrible) state would worms like me would have ended up in!).<\/p>\n<p><strong>From AzhwAr thirunagari SrI u.vE. vidhwAn thirumalai nallAn chakravarththi rAmakrishNa iyengAr\u2019s \u2018<em>amudha virundhu<\/em>\u2019 :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>dharumanukkA &#8211; <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0referring to dharman represents other pANdavas and dhraupadhI as well.<\/p>\n<p>Killing the hundred kauravas for dharuman shows His partiality towards His devotees.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>vaiththa karaNam \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>since sentient were being like non-sentient at the time of annihilation, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> uses the word \u2018<em>vaiththa\u2019<\/em> (placed\/created), instead of <em>\u2018koduththa\u2019<\/em> (gave) faculties\/senses of the body, (because it is not possible to take it at that time, and also it is not to be given and forgotten but would be taken back during next annihilation, and also to show that the faculties\/senses still belong to Him).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>umakku anRu &#8211; <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0they were not placed on you as your properties.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>enRu irAmAnusan &#8230; Aruyirkku \u2013 <\/em><\/strong><em>enRu -&gt; <\/em>in those ways &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> advised.
