When asked what was his action that triggered <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> to accept him,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> says, he had such lowly qualities that even most saintly persons will give up on him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/16\/nampillai-english\/\">nampiLLai<\/a>\u00a0 highlights that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> reveals his state before being accepted by <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/periyavachan-pillai-english\/\">periyavAchchAn piLLai<\/a> highlights that <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> first rejected <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> (in first pAsuram) but then showed attachment to <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> (in third pAsuram), since <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> is most dear to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>. He says &#8220;If I think about <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s favours to me, I should like whatever he likes&#8221; and he speaks about his lowly qualities and how <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> accepted him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/12\/15\/azhagiya-manavala-perumal-nayanar\/\">azhagiya maNavALa perumaL nAyanAr<\/a> highlights that <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> reveals his heart and shows his attachment towards nammAzhwAr in the previous pAsurams. Seeing that, some ask, rishis (sages) and <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/azhwars\/\">AzhwArs<\/a> have unanimously declared <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">srIman nArAyaNan<\/a> as mother and father of all of universe. You are also part of\u00a0 that same universe. So, why are you surrendering to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> instead of <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">bhagavAn<\/a> as done by these great sages and <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/azhwars\/\">AzhwArs<\/a>?\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> replies &#8220;Due to my extremely lowly nature, even those saintly people have given up on me. Only\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> uplifted me seeing that lowly nature itself as a qualification. Ones like <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\">kUraththAzhwAn<\/a>, ANdAL (<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\">kUraththAzhwAn<\/a>&#8216;s dharmapathni), <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">srImahAlakshmi<\/a>, etc.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>annaiyAy aththanAy<\/em>&#8221; &#8211; being all types of relation such as mAthA, pithA, AchArya, etc. mAthA (Mother) is generally focussed on priyam (that which is pleasing to the child), pithA (Father) is generally focussed on hitham (well-being &#8211; that which is ideal for the child) and AchArya is focussed fully on the hitham (well-being) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">jIvAthmA<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>en nambi<\/em>&#8221; (my master) &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> is so complete that, not only he has the ability to purify himself, he can also purify me.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Highlights from <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/16\/nampillai-english\/\">nampiLLai<\/a>&#8216;s eedu vyAkyAnam:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Except for <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>, no one else will accept me &#8211; I have so much defects. I am an embodiment of all lowly qualities.<\/li>\n<li>When kAkAsura who offended <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">sIthA pirAtti<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">srI rAma<\/a> launched a straw as a weapon to kill him. kAkAsura tried to get help from all 3 worlds and eventually failed and finally surrendered to srI rAma who could only give him refuge forgiving his cruel act. Similarly, for the amount of blemishes I have, only <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> could accept me and reform me.<\/li>\n<li>Whatever <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> observed in <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> in thiruvAimozhi 2.3.2 &#8220;<em>thAyAyth thanthaiyAy aRiyAdhana aRiviththa aththA<\/em>&#8221; (being a mother, being a father and enlightening me with those aspects that are not known to me), madhurakavi AzhwAr observes the same in <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>thanmaiyAn<\/em>&#8221; &#8211; just like fire is hot and water is cold naturally, it is <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s natural quality to uplift even the most fallen persons.<\/li>\n<li>Whatever done by mother, father will not do. Whatever done by father, mother will not do. Others cannot do either (mother&#8217;s task or father&#8217;s task). But <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> is so complete that he fulfills all these responsibilities. Some how I tried to compare him with saintly persons &#8211; it is my mistake to try and compare him with any one since no one is as complete as <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Highlights from <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/periyavachan-pillai-english\/\">periyavAchchAn piLLai<\/a>&#8216;s vyAkyAnam:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This vyAkyAnam is mostly based on <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/16\/nampillai-english\/\">nampiLLai<\/a>&#8216;s vyAkyAnam.<\/li>\n<li>Experts in vEdhams means ones who have understood the essence of the meanings of vEdham, i.e., becoming <em>Anrusamsya pradhAnar<\/em> (Being benevolent\/compassionate towards others) &#8211; uplifting them from this miserable samsAram.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">satakOpa<\/a> &#8211; one who removed my wickedness\/ignorance. <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> is known as <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">satakOpa<\/a> since he angrily drove out the ignorance from his own mind during his birth. Now,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> uses that name of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> remembering <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>&#8216;s favour of driving out the ignorance from his mind as well. Up to 3rd pAsuram, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> used &#8220;<em>kurukUr nambi&#8221;<\/em> and in this pAsuram he uses <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">satakOpa<\/a> due to the fact that <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> dispelling his ignorance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Highlights from <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/12\/15\/azhagiya-manavala-perumal-nayanar\/\">azhagiya maNavALa perumaL nAyanAr<\/a>&#8216;s vyAkyanam:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As heard from <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a> who identified devotees as &#8220;<em>nalaththAl mikkAr<\/em>&#8221; (ones who are filled with good qualities) in thiruvAimozhi 5.8.3,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhwAr<\/a> says &#8220;<em>nanmaiyAl mikka<\/em>&#8220;. They are not just filled with kindness, they are also devoid of any hatred towards any one. They are so kind hearted that even towards the ones who hurt them, they are merciful. sIthA pirAtti defended the rAkshasis (rAvaNa&#8217;s demoniac female assistants who troubled her so much) and advised hanuman to show mercy towards them. <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/10\/05\/kurathazhwan\/\">kUraththAzhwAn<\/a> requested emperumAn to bless nAlUrAn (his own sishya who caused the loss of his eyes) with the same benediction as he himself would get. prahlAzhdhAzhwAn too was compassionate towards the ones who committed great offenses towards him.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<em>nanmaiyAl mikka nAnmaRaiyALargaL<\/em>&#8221; &#8211; Their most compassionate quality is learnt\/acquired from vEdham. &#8220;<em>mAthA pithA sahasrEbhyO vathsalatharam sAsthram<\/em>&#8221; (sAsthram carries thousand times more care than mother\/father will manifest).
